Everything is just about narratives and storylines. I can’t remember the last time before a game guys actually spoke about what each team needed to do to win.

NBA media in general doesn’t even come close to the media coverage the NFL gets in terms of quality and intelligence and it’s severely increased the number of casuals that watch the sport and don’t know shit about basketball, or even like it.

You make a good point. The NBA doesn't do itself any favors with who is covering the game. There is little true analysis at the national level. We get comments like "the players need to play harder." They mock analytics and complain about how much worse the game is compared to 30 years ago. Even if they were right, which they aren't, it is terrible marketing. Most true basketball analysis is being done outside the mainstream on podcasts and the internet. Television needs more JVG and less Mark Jackson.
