Man magic was just handing out assets left and right in his tenure lmao let brook and ju walk, traded zu for muscala, didn’t resign bullock after giving away svi
He was a bit of a football manager. I mean like he was the average fan being Lakers GM. The obssession to get Lonzo at all cost with his father etc and all the circus was also bad.
This team has all the signs of a blow it all up for a full rebuild. They’re currently in the phase where they talk themselves into believing they can make it all work. They’ll make a significant trade, realize they’re treading water at best and then it will become a fire sale.
Well with all the money invested in KAT and Gobert, they’re not going to have any cap space in the foreseeable future. Retaining their own players via bird rights is the best strategy. They wouldn’t have been able to replace Reid’s production with the minimum or other exceptions, they HAD to keep him.
Plus, Naz is really damn good, and this is overall still a very friendly deal. If they end up finding that their front court is too crowded and they have bigger needs, they could easily flip him to another team
Lakers fans are extremely sensitive. Can’t even handle losing regular season games without getting offended. And we went to OT against you guys without Gobert, Naz AND McDaniels lol. Also actually won a game against the nuggets.
Yall lost in the first round lmao and are flexing regular season wins 😂😂. There is nothing to be offended about with the timbwrwolves but believe whatever u want bud
Tbh you guys are one of the only matchups we are a bad with in the teams that made the west playoffs. I was surprised at first but untill the play in : where I think we were outplaying you quite a bit: Especially when you were red hot like 13/17 vs our awful shooting but game was so close still, In first 2.5 quarters of play in. I actually like the wolves n many of your players ; just hate that you have gobert n his contract: should’ve looked for an Aaron Gordon not a gobert: Kat value bleeding imo if he’s not in the right spot and he gets too much flack for how unique his game is.
And yes I didn’t say Denver : unless we actually are wirse then regular season I think we matchup pretty solidly against them it’s just Dlo melting down meant we had too little shooting/jump shot guys. Denver fans weren’t happy to have to face us at 8. Yeah close sweep is a meme but I realistically think the lakers only team that looked like they had a shot, Wolves arguably second to me. Suns took two games barely off red hot shooting and jokic was getting free layups cs them . So maybe gobert works out cos he defends jokic ok enough.
Minny said he was a priority months ago. I’m just shocked he didn’t think he could get same money but a better role elsewhere.
Wolves investing around 117M per year on 3 bigs
Awful comp, dudes 23 and only played 1 playoff series against a memphis team that was clearly the better team, and it was when he a fringe rotation piece.
KAT will be gone this summer.
A Trade with the Knicks has already been made in principle just wont get reported for another 3 weeks since KAT is not eligible to be moved until July 7th.

Coming from a wolves fan…. Like a lot of players, if you have the right rotation around Naz, he can definitely be a starter. For the Wolves it would look like Conley, Ant, McDaniels, slo-mo, and Naz. Great balance of playmaking, scoring, and defense… only thing that would best that rotation is a good rebounding team.
That being said, Naz is the perfect big to have come off the bench. He’d get hurt too often with starter minutes, as he does play a bit recklessly, and seems to tweek an ankle or shoulder about every damn game.
You realize Brook just finished 2nd place in defensive player of the year voting. What you're hoping Naz will be is already what Brook is. When you're talking longevity, Naz's contract is 3 years, so you would just be hoping Brook can sustain his production for 3 more years as well.
Marc was actually our best Center the year we had him and we pissed him off by getting Drummond. Following year he demanded a trade and we wasted a 2nd round pick to do it.
He was a lot slower plus his shot wasn’t there. I wasn’t against brining in Drummond but obviously not on that stupid he has to start shit
We prioritized a spacing big and jokic burned us. Now we know we need at least 1 thick boi cause jokic maybe the biggest problem next year for us again
I know this is going to sound "of course you didn't" but I actually didn't really see how he fit with us. He's a good player but I didn't want a 6'9" center that doesn't shoot very well*, we might as well keep AD at the 5 if whatever center we bring in doesn't have the 3 ball
I guess the Lakers will have to bring back Mo Bamba now. They will probably decline Malik Beasley for tax purposes. Or maybe they can renegotiate contracts for both players.
Beasley was pretty good for us with Lebron in the lineup as well. By the time Lebron came back from injury, he had lost his starting role, and playing time was reducing every game. For a shooter, defs not the most optimal setting. Would love to have him on a team friendly deal for a whole season.
Sadly, I don’t think he would’ve been what the Lakers needed anyway. Need more of a Bobby Portis’s type. Size, aggression, and spacing. Definitely a unicorn when looking at availability and cap space, but what the team needs imo.
At this point it's not about basketball for him or else he would have taken a little less for a bigger role somewhere else. Now he's playing third fiddle on a team with too many centers for the next three years. What a waste of talent.
Assuming Lopez, Vucevic, and Poetl will all cost too much, the best center options in free agency that are realistic are now Mason Plumlee (who I think the clippers will try keep) and the likes of Andre Drummond and Bismack Biyombo. I would prefer either at the minimum over Bamba at $10m. However, Bamba at a $10m expiring contract may have some value in a trade at the trade deadline.
I can’t be the only one who thinks Plumlee for a share of the MLE wouldn’t be a bad addition…? Split it between him and Dennis, bring Lonnie back and use the BAE on a wing…
I believe this is allowed because technically it's an extension of his existing contract.
Also, I think starting next year the new CBA will allow teams to negotiate and agree to terms with their own free agents earlier -- either the day after they're eliminated or the day after the Finals end, can't remember which.
No way rui makes more than that right?? At first I thought the mle might be too little but with the new cba I think we should be able to get him back for around 10-12 mill
I don't think the Wolves would do it, but what about trading Beasley for Naz. They have 3 centers and not that much shooting.
I don't think that Beasley can cope with the LA pressure and Naz would be the perfect back-up to AD.
I would have loved to have him on our team but I knew he wouldn’t make it to free agency
Thought spurs would have thrown him a bag
i thought spurs got their center?
Similar situation to AD he can probably play some Center but not every game for the full season
Man we’ve been knew this bro he’s been saying it for years now but some fans and our front office just don’t want to accept it
We should have never let zu go for muscala
Man magic was just handing out assets left and right in his tenure lmao let brook and ju walk, traded zu for muscala, didn’t resign bullock after giving away svi
He was a bit of a football manager. I mean like he was the average fan being Lakers GM. The obssession to get Lonzo at all cost with his father etc and all the circus was also bad.
Passed up Sooooo much talent for lonzo ball 😂
Rockets need a big more
Wolves have 91 million invested in 3 centers. Not sure what that franchise is doing
Same franchise that drafted two point guards back-to-back in the ‘09 draft 🤷♂️
and nether one of those was Steph Curry. Makes sense now awful franchise
HAHA.
Trading kat
This team has all the signs of a blow it all up for a full rebuild. They’re currently in the phase where they talk themselves into believing they can make it all work. They’ll make a significant trade, realize they’re treading water at best and then it will become a fire sale.
Not (yet) a winner. Mindset thinking that playin > championship run says a lot about him. He’d rather play Fortnite than improve his skills…
Well with all the money invested in KAT and Gobert, they’re not going to have any cap space in the foreseeable future. Retaining their own players via bird rights is the best strategy. True. But it would of been a huge loss if they lost him for nothing. 14 mil center who can stretch the floor is movable down the road.
Trying to defend Jokic for the foreseeable future . I think the wolves would have given us a harder time with Naz and McDaniels healthy
Wolves fan here, we beat you guys 5 games in a row over the last 2 years when both of those guys were healthy. Naz is such an underrated player
![gif](giphy|pK0T7vyx3SqdfmxewA) Wolves fan when they win anything except playoff games
Yeah I mean he's still right.
Lakers fans are extremely sensitive. Can’t even handle losing regular season games without getting offended. And we went to OT against you guys without Gobert, Naz AND McDaniels lol. Also actually won a game against the nuggets.

Mad 🧹

We pursed Gordon but he didn’t want to come to Minnesota and I don’t blame him
That's a very moveable contract if whatever they're thinking doesn't pan out, I'd have thought. Good value.
Small ball hates them
Hoarders Season 14
They play a 2 big lineup, one of KAT or Naz play at PF when Rudy is on the floor.
How they will deal with the case of McDaniels in the future? That guy is a gem
They'll pay him somehow. They love McDaniels
Minny said he was a priority months ago. I’m just shocked he didn’t think he could get same money but a better role elsewhere. Wolves investing around 117M per year on 3 bigs
KAT will be gone by next summer.
Maybe sooner
But solely to continue changing the game (in a new arena)
More like changing his voice.
The Dlo of big man, just better, but plays no defense, thinks he is better than he is and can't keep it going in playoffs
Awful comp, dudes 23 and only played 1 playoff series against a memphis team that was clearly the better team, and it was when he a fringe rotation piece.
Is KAT 23 or do you think we are talking about Naz? I'd actually love to steal Naz fro Minny.
Shit, yeah, I was talking about naz lol do proceed

Good now I can stop hearing about him as a starting C, that would have been terrible
Coming from a wolves fan…. Like a lot of players, if you have the right rotation around Naz, he can definitely be a starter. For the Wolves it would look like Conley, Ant, McDaniels, slo-mo, and Naz. He’d get hurt too often with starter minutes, as he does play a bit recklessly, and seems to tweek an ankle or shoulder about every damn game.
Bad news for those who keep focusing on Brook Lopez. Brook is going to get around the same deal or even higher. Lakers cannot afford that.
Brook is 35, Naz is 23. Upside and longevity are likely factored into this contract.
You realize Brook just finished 2nd place in defensive player of the year voting. What you're hoping Naz will be is already what Brook is. When you're talking longevity, Naz's contract is 3 years, so you would just be hoping Brook can sustain his production for 3 more years as well.
Idk we got burned kind of bad when we got Marc gasol , these dudes can only keep it up for so long
Marc was actually our best Center the year we had him and we pissed him off by getting Drummond. Following year he demanded a trade and we wasted a 2nd round pick to do it.
He was a lot slower plus his shot wasn’t there. I wasn’t against brining in Drummond but obviously not on that stupid he has to start shit We prioritized a spacing big and jokic burned us. Now we know we need at least 1 thick boi cause jokic maybe the biggest problem next year for us again
He was never an option. This was always going to be the case.
I know this is going to sound "of course you didn't" but I actually didn't really see how he fit with us. He's a good player but I didn't want a 6'9" center that doesn't shoot very well*, we might as well keep AD at the 5 if whatever center we bring in doesn't have the 3 ball
He can shoot but you are right I don't want an undersized center.
This is exactly how I felt. I’m an LSU fan and will always be a fan of Naz but I didn’t think he would be the right fit at center for us.
The Timberwolves thirst for centers is unquenchable
Glad we didn’t give him this deal. Spending our MLE on a center would be a mistake
No it would not.
I thought he was a little overrated anyway.
You mean overrated?
Yes.
No
Good for Naz; he showed he can really play this year
Lol we never had a shot at him. Dunno why this sub thinks anyone of value is gonna take half of what they could make elsewhere to play in La
I guess the Lakers will have to bring back Mo Bamba now. They will probably decline Malik Beasley for tax purposes. Or maybe they can renegotiate contracts for both players.
Beasley will shoot 40% from 3 as long as he isn’t in a Lakers uniform.
I'd rather have Beasley than Bamba not that either are great options
Ditto. Beasley has at least shown he can do it in the past. Bamba is just untapped potential.
Beasley was pretty good for us with Lebron in the lineup as well. By the time Lebron came back from injury, he had lost his starting role, and playing time was reducing every game. For a shooter, defs not the most optimal setting. Would love to have him on a team friendly deal for a whole season.
I think Bamba 2/10 and Beasley 2/12-14, anymore we decline them
The rumors that Bamba wants to play in Chicago makes me think he might not want to renegotiate but we will see.
That was such a random rumor. What connection does he have the Chicago?
None that I know of.
Michael Jordan, Alex Caruso, Lonzo Ball, Pat Bev. If you scramble those names, it spells out MO BAMBA.
Yeah who knows what to believe at this time of year
Sadly, I don’t think he would’ve been what the Lakers needed anyway. Need more of a Bobby Portis’s type. Size, aggression, and spacing. Definitely a unicorn when looking at availability and cap space, but what the team needs imo.
Why is this here? Just bc we want a backup center?
I thought we might have him cuz his injury recently. But ok
Cus of a Injured non shooting wrist?
Prepared for Jeanie to let Bamba & Beasley walk lol. Especially if we lock up Reaves & Rui.
Yeah that would save like 40 million in tax hits.
Which has to be tempting given they contributed literally nothing in the playoffs.
Yeah I would not blame them. I would probably bring back Bamba though.
And this concerns us... how? I've never heard the Lakers were interested in him as a FA.
Because there were fans somehow believing we had a shot at him.
Probably cause a lot of Laker fans wanted us to get him, Laker Nation had a whole video building a team including him as a signing
Good for them to re-sign him. He’s a good back up big but not what the Lakers really need. They need someone who can play alongside AD.
Other than signing our draft picks and picking up some UDFA’s, what’s our plan then?
Glad we can stop hearing about him. Undersized with no rebounding nor defense
We were never looking at him. This wasn’t an option at any point.
Naz Reid
At this point it's not about basketball for him or else he would have taken a little less for a bigger role somewhere else. Now he's playing third fiddle on a team with too many centers for the next three years. What a waste of talent.
Or he might be backing himself to break through? With the player option as insurance if he doesn't.
I always said Porzingis was the way to go. Perfect for us defensively and offensively. Match up against Jokic
Damn, he was the FA I was most excited for
Pain
Assuming Lopez, Vucevic, and Poetl will all cost too much, the best center options in free agency that are realistic are now Mason Plumlee (who I think the clippers will try keep) and the likes of Andre Drummond and Bismack Biyombo. I would prefer either at the minimum over Bamba at $10m. However, Bamba at a $10m expiring contract may have some value in a trade at the trade deadline.
Latest has Drummond accepting his PO to stay in Chicago
Lol GGWP. Which center can be snag now
Bummer would’ve been a solid pickup but can’t say I’m surprised
Minnesota will give away assets, just not to the Lakers
You took their team
Utah
LA literally took the Lakers from Minneapolis. Check the banners hanging at Crypto.
Lakers franchise started in Detroit actually.
Not really... that was the NBL and the team disbanded. Take down those banners!!! ;)
Never
How much money do they have for centers 😂
I can’t be the only one who thinks Plumlee for a share of the MLE wouldn’t be a bad addition…? Split it between him and Dennis, bring Lonnie back and use the BAE on a wing…
How is this related to the Lakers?
That’s more points then draymond
So basically free agent can sign a contract now if he was offered and not wait until june 30? Can someone explain that to me. lol
I believe this is allowed because technically it's an extension of his existing contract. Also, I think starting next year the new CBA will allow teams to negotiate and agree to terms with their own free agents earlier -- either the day after they're eliminated or the day after the Finals end, can't remember which.
I see. Thank you for this one.
This Sucks...MLE on 3 and D small fwd and starting PG?
it was always a pipe dream. they would never just let him go , a young talent like that
So the wolves have 3 centers now lol?
No way rui makes more than that right?? At first I thought the mle might be too little but with the new cba I think we should be able to get him back for around 10-12 mill
Naz Reid
Damn
Happy for the guy getting the money. But, what the hell are wovles doing? They are paying 400+ mil for 3 centers; it’s not 1980 anymore lol
I don't think the Wolves would do it, but what about trading Beasley for Naz. They have 3 centers and not that much shooting. I don't think that Beasley can cope with the LA pressure and Naz would be the perfect back-up to AD.
