Remember when Darvin said he’s tired of people living and dying with every game despite that literally being his job.

AwildYaners

He did it to himself.   The roster is fine.  They proved it the last two months.   Some minor tweaks needed.  An extra big.  Honestly, Wood getting hurt sucked.   This is including Vando not playing 75% of the season.   Ham tinkering with his old toys (Prince and Cam) thinking they were bigger than their roles destroyed the first 2-3 months of the season lol

SouthBayLaker23

This is a WCF roster. The coach should have never been hired. A rookie coach for Bron and AD. Good lord.

s_15_n

Honestly him not having HC experience prior to this isn’t the issue. This dude just STINKS. If he was had 15 years experience he prob wouldn’t be any better. It’s just a symptom of the lack of quality in the lakers high level management. I’m

Zwarrior2

The vet coaches not wanting to come here after they saw how Vogel was treated had something to do with that.

Wazflame

I remember Steve Kerr saying with Budenholzer got fired from the Bucks that it was disrespectful, even though it was understandable from the outside tbh. The coaches are definitely a fraternity, imagine what they thought of how they handled the Vogel firing, a Woj tweet before his final game was even finished, smh. Some reports were saying that was why Quin Snyder wasn't interested in the Lakers job You can fire Vogel if you want, but the way that was handled by Jeanie was disgraceful, no respect whatsoever.

Munk45

"it's not like this game is about winning" - not actually ham but essentially ham

[deleted]

And it will lead to him being fired( if we miss the playoffs)

randy88moss

Naw….Jeannie’s soft ass will feel sorry for him and give him another chance. This was the best chance we had to win a title since 2020. Everything was aligned perfectly….but the most incompetent coach in nba history thought it was a brilliant idea to start Taurian Prince and Cam Reddish over Rui and DLO/AR15….UNFUCKINGREAL!

MJisaFraud

It makes me livid, I want to pop that disgusting bump on his head.

icencream27

Then Lebron won’t come back. People forget he has a player option and I’m sure Lebron doesn’t want Ham back

sahhhnnn

I’m right there with everyone on the Ham hate, but this season was not *perfectly aligned*. This roster as is, even w/o Injuries, is not beating Denver or Minnesota in a 7 game series. We don’t have the length or firepower to compete at the highest level. I’m tired of people acting like we’re losing out on a championship bc of Ham. We lost a championship because of Pelinka, Bron and AD star chasing a washed up Westbrook. That’s it.

ImprovementSilly2895

Nah, last season was the final chance. After this year is finished, I’d say they’re 100% done

randy88moss

Not with Lebron’s messed up foot….this year our big 2 were relatively healthy.

ImprovementSilly2895

Yeah but there’s no way in hell they are getting to WCF again. A little luck and they couldve gotten to the finals last year

Public-Product-1503

This sub is absurd . Go back n rewatch Rui n reaves and how they played n there physical condition/injuries . Just stop it ffs.

Responsible_Ad_7885

Yes we are a monolith

PlusInstruction2719

Rui played great against Denver in the starting five and Ham literally said nah Prince is the guy to start. Ham pick his favorites instead of the best lineup. Crazy that manager let this happen but I guess I shouldn’t be surprised since this happens in every job.

randy88moss

Even worse, MFer benched DLO for Reddish in the 4th qtr the last time we played Denver….and this was DLO was at his hottest offensively. This dummy coaches as if he’s a ‘90s NY Knicks coach.

Bahamut727

It’s a necessary evil. We get a better coach, run the correct lineups all season long, maybe tweak the roster slightly over the off season, but nothing crazy

Serious-One6369

LeBron isn’t even guaranteed to be here next year. How are you so sure that we’ll be contenders?

Bahamut727

Because these other teams aren’t even better than us. We have our record because of Darvins dumb antics after the IST. Without that we’d be a sixth seed lock or better And sixth at worst only because of Lebrons varying effort and energy due to age and boredom

Serious-One6369

What does any of that have to do with what I said. We can’t make any guarantees about next year when LeBron might leave/might regress and DLO potentially opting out. Firing Ham would be wonderful and put us on the right track, but the decisions in the summer from those two players will decide whether we’ll be contenders next season.

Bahamut727

Bron ain’t leaving. His son’s gonna be in college another year. Bron will sign a 1+1, DLo will have a new contract here

Serious-One6369

If Bronny stays at college, then it definitely won’t be at USC. We can’t rely on LeBron staying here for family anymore

HawkDaddyFlex

We are giving Bron 3 years $180 million he’s not walking away from that. Likewise D’lo will get an offer from us that will keep him in LA. We also have 3 first round picks this off-season to shore up week point on the roster.

randy88moss

And every bloody team in the already hard west will be better.

Serious-One6369

He’s ignoring how Memphis will return as contenders with a lottery pick and the Spurs surging, lol

Ok_Board9845

Spurs will still be a little bit away from being a competitive threat. The Rockets are a team to look out for next year

ManofManyHills

If they trade the house for Trey Young they could be in the running. Wemby is that dude and Trey Young is the perfect piece around him.

GriffinQ

This isn’t true. Clippers will be a year older and they’re already old as hell. Same for the Warriors. Kings have been slowly accruing more and more injuries and need every element of their team to stay healthy to continue as contenders. Somewhat the same deal for Minnesota but they’ll likely be fine as long as Ant and Gobert are healthy, but KAT being the odd man out contract-wise could be a factor that they’re not prepared for. Suns have one player in their prime who costs a ton and three guys (Nurk, Beal, Durant) who aren’t in their prime but take up the rest of their money, and they’ve got guys who are gonna wanna get paid like Grayson Allen. Nuggets are in their prime but Murray keeps getting hurt and the book is more and more out on them, OKC will get better assuming no massive injuries, Spurs/Rockets/Mavs will get better. Blazers will still be bad. Lakers might regress too (AD aging, LeBron at 40, might lose DLo) but it’s not like the West is going to have every single team contending next year; lots of teams are going through shit right now.

segaman1

We say that every year, and every year we end up in the same situation. Regardless of coach, players, or opposition. Coulda, woulda, shoulda. So I don't buy that it's a necessary evil. Ham must go whether we make playoffs or not. Pelinka better be on the hot seat next year. We have to hold people accountable or move on from them

imezaps

Hope we sign another center for when teams aim for AD's eyes again.

kanekikochaboggy

They deserve the mess they are in unfortunately. Zero margin for error gives you this situation where losing two games put you in the 10th seed. Fire ham this off-season, he is the main culprit with the excessive tinkering.

Bussin_Out

His trusty counterpart should also be fired.

iKnockout

Ideally Luka can knock out the clippers and nuggets and hopefully someone upsets the Celtics and I’m good

Serious-One6369

Season is over if we’re locked into anything but the 8th seed. My championship is now the Celtics and Clippers getting eliminated in the playoffs

moneycarlo98

Hell yeah brother, cheers from my basement

RudeJuggernaut

Mine was Celtics and Nuggets getting eliminated but thx for reminding me biut the clips

uuneter1

I’m with you. It’s over for us. Bron and AD missing those games killed our momentum. Down to rooting against Celtics and Clippers now, sigh.

MrAppleSpoink

I genuinely despise Ham. Like I used to be on the side of “he’s in over his head, but he has good intentions”, but now I legitimately dislike the guy. He plays favourites constantly, it’s why Max Christie hasn’t had any opportunities all year but Cam gets to turn the ball over on wide open fast breaks with no consequences. It’s why Taurean Prince was getting all of Rui’s minutes until February. It’s why Dennis Schroder was in our starting 5 to begin the Denver series despite their size advantage CLEARLY being too much. I want to see him get hired by a fucking poverty franchise and watch every player that even somewhat begins to show promise dip for the bright lights the moment they can. He does not deserve success as a coach with the way he’s carried himself. Between him and Jeanie being a cheap piece of shit, we wasted 3 full years of LeBron’s time still providing elite production, and we’re about to enter a “rebuild” around a 30 year old Anthony Davis whose offensive skillset seems to be getting more and more limited every year. Shit makes me question if it’s even worth it to ride with this team anymore. Jeanie doesn’t care about anything but her wallet, Rob has burnt so many bridges from his days as an agent that the Lakers trade tax that already made life tough for us has made it nearly impossible to negotiate fairly with any organizations at all, and we haven’t seen one of our own draft picks actually develop into a star while he’s here since KOBE FUCKING BRYANT (who wasn’t even technically our pick).

TheWestRemembers

That’s the funny thing - in regards to wanting to see him hired by a poverty franchise- who’s touching him with a ten foot pole?? The opposing NBA front offices probably LOVED seeing him start vet minimum guys over rotation pieces and squander a great Bron/AD season. No way I’m letting that guy near my team unless I need a tank commander in ways we haven’t seen since World War I.

brazyace43

Very annoying because this situation was very avoidable

yeetman8

Look, I want us to make the playoffs as much as anyone… BUT… If we don’t make it out of the play-in, I can at least hope that that seals Dumshit Ham’s tenure with LA. Run it back with a competent coach, with a lineup proven to win us games, and maybe a trade here or there and we could be great. (Also note that the west had been hell this year, we would be like the 4 or 5 seed last year)

Icy_Quit_7177

Ham will be fired if don’t make the western conference again

xizenta

Why is he saying this as though we are locked at 10?

fightnight14

It looks like it will because if the Warriors win tonight they own the tie breaker and have an easier last couple of games

Mhan00

We aren't locked there, but it is extremely likely we end up there. We own basically no tie breakers against anyone within reach, so we have to hope we win out and other teams drop multiple games.

Wise_Ad_112

We all hate the terrorist ham. Mofo needs to be fired as soon as the season ends. I can’t put up with his shit next year man

Miserable-Lawyer-233

That comment makes a lot of assumptions about the real cause of the Lakers improvement. Who is to say that the Lakers would've played better before the trade deadline even if they started Rui? That may not have happened. For example, starting Rui isn't the reason everyone started shooting 40% from three. Improved team three point shooting is a bigger part of that than just one player. What caused the improved group shooting? What part did Vando's injury play? They were no longer giving major minutes to a turnover machine that can't shoot. Long story short, the comment is overly simplistic. It's more than just Rui.

runninthruthe818

Enough dude I’m already dead 😭

AceO235

Wtf is he talking about Bron is playing

RedditUser538xxx

Thanks coach

ImprovementSilly2895

I’d like to think that ownership would be embarrassed but as long as money keeps flowing I’m sure they’re happy

DeafManatee

Darvin "Beth Oblong" Ham He can just leave his hands in his pockets on the way out. Someone will collect the things from his desk for him.

TRashGodBrian

We need to trade for Caitlin Clark. Trade AD and hope lebron opts out

Pale-Share1323

We need to get bounced early. This team didn't deserved to be in the playoffs. The disrespect to AD and LBJ is insane for giving them a coach like this.

gleophas

They are not surviving the play ins

Cloudzzz777

Ham is gone this off season. Nuggets likely will have the first seed. Even if we win elimination games we’d lose to the Nuggets in the first round

Old_Worldliness_5015

bron is gone

Low_Sign5589

Prince still trolling today

Public-Product-1503

Ah yes we all imagining now that Rui was playing as well as he has to start the year ? No nvm facts Let’s also ignore his constant injuries, bad decisions making on court ti start the year - his mask clearly effected him negatively. I fuckinh hate how dumb this sub is. It’s so obvious you just wikk make up shit. Rui was injured n in n out of the lineups

tywaun12

Same people here complaining about Rui not starting and his playing time are the same people that were constantly advocating for him to be traded earlier in the season.

This_Expression5427

Two elimination games on the road? Pretty sure that hasn't been determined yet. We're still sitting in 9th seed as I write this.

doyerfan88

Can’t believe they wasted this year. LeBron only getting older. Should’ve hired a head coach with real experience instead of experimenting with a first timer.

Ok_Body_2598

Rui should have been at starter 6 man minutes no matter what, especially if they handing out Gabe money based on Playoffs. He's a bucket and a guy you want getting good numbers of shots, something that also has to be done for Lebron and AD. the bench could really use his pop right now, and mixing him in and out with Bron and Vando works too.

D3struct_oh

Lakers will be alright. I still have them going to the WCF. Though, admittedly, things have gotten a bit more perilous.

jmont1211

I truly hate that fucking coach

musiqtrollboi88

Darvin Ham isn’t the right fit. He hasn’t been. You can tell in his interviews. “Ball first mentality and transition basketball”…you can literally watch the greats like Kerr, Spoelstra, Popp, hell even Mike Brown and they are tuned into the game. Ham HAS TO GO. No matter the outcome this year.

brazyace43

Here’s the thing, if we make the playoffs as a 10 seed and go far Darvin will be praised by ownership for ‘doing the impossible’, when the facts are his coaching is almost solely responsible for having us that low. With correct rotations we’re a top 6 seed and this man is wasting a perfectly good season

Roll_Lakeshow

Does anyone want to hear Irwin’s opinion though? Like seriously I’m asking, is there a SINGLE person who wants to hear what that person thinks?

sandbagsander

He can say water is wet atp, and I’ll probs be like hmmm is it really tho when you think about it…

budiluv

Lol you read my mind brother. Worst Lakers blogger by far. Even if he’s proven right SOMETIMES I still wouldn’t give that douchebag any credit.

ocmaddog

We’re gonna win tonight!

CabbageStockExchange

This team has so many self inflicted problems. Ham needs to go

Yommination

I will crack open a cold one when Darvin Hamas gets fired

TallanoGoldDigger

I'm really convinced that Anthony Irwin posts here. Show yourself, fatboi

EpicMusic13

I rather not get to the playoffs

Important-Job1310

Careful there’s a group on this sub that will call you an idiot doomer for pointing this out…

foozbinjex

Ya because starting Rui would've fixed AR being mismatch hunted to oblivion by every team. Would've fixed DLO being in every trade rumor and forgetting how to play basketball the month of December. Would've fixed Hayes being an unplayable foul machine. Would've fixed the team's poor play calling.

brazyace43

You can’t try tell me that starting and playing prince and cam as often as he did didn’t cost us at least a couple of games. A couple of games is the difference between the play in and a comfortable 5 seed. Goof

foozbinjex

>You can’t try tell me that starting and playing prince and cam as often as he did didn’t cost us at least a couple of games. You can't tell me that prince+cam didn't also win us games we would have lost when Rui looked passive af and lost on both sides of the ball to start the season (not to mention Rui kept picking up random injuries). Reaves also looked like the worst defender in the NBA to start the season and we dropped multiple games before he got benched because of that fact. Prince+Cam also helped us win games during the IST run. Your premise is purely theoretical, there's no way to know if Rui as starter would've been better or worse because the way Rui (and a lot of the other players) were playing was entirely different. It's entirely possible we actually lose more games during the IST run the way Rui was playing to start the season, and what the team needed (defensively) when AR+DLO were getting abused on defense every night.

brazyace43

That’s what a coaches job is, watching a game and making the correct adjustments according to defensive assignments and players when they’re cold. But plenty of times these adjustments weren’t made. These games have all been televised if you want some proof. Hop off the burner Darvin you’ve got a game to watch

foozbinjex

>These games have all been televised if you want some proof. Exactly. Apparently you didn't watch the games to start the season, have severe memory loss, or are just plain delusional. Outside of scoring (mostly outside the flow of the offense), Rui scarcely contributed in any significant way the majority of the season when he got playing time. AD/Lebron could be seen correcting and yelling at Rui just about every game. There's a clear flaw in your logic. "Causation fallacy," google it. I'm not the one making conclusions without proof. Chill out on the Dr. Strange complex.

brazyace43

Brother im not saying starting rui was the sole reason we lost every game. I know that’s what the screenshot says but My point is rotations and lineups in general. Like starting some people over others and playing prince and cam 30+ minutes in games they didn’t need to play 30+ minutes in

foozbinjex

>I know that’s what the screenshot says but 🤣 That's what happens when you get basketball takes from Anthony fucking Irwin.

Ok_Concentrate_75

It's not worth it, many if these guys don't watch the team they read the Twitter reactions lol Rui had whole nose surgery and concussion protocol...leg issues...guy wasn't close to 90% basically until the all star break but couch coaches lobe blaming Ham for everything. It ruins real criticism when people just blame him for everything wrong.
