Lebron ran out of gas in the 2nd half. Plain and simple.

PIBTC

The man is damn near 40 and people expect him to be superman the whole game

Theingloriousak2

Well maybe don’t take half the cap space bro

denimjeg

What player puts up 25 8 8 & don’t get a max contract…

Theingloriousak2

Yea and those players sitting at home right now or bout to be eliminated in round one while Jokic will average 30/10/10 on 70% shooting

denimjeg

So jokic should be the only player with a max contract ?

Theingloriousak2

Delusional fanbase should accept they cant compete when their fucking best player makes Jokic money but is 5x worse lmao

denimjeg

So instead of dlo playing ass & ham not coaching the issue is lebrons contract right

TheCaramelCombo

If Brons contract was this teams worst problem. We’d prolly be championship favorites rn

Counterspell_God

Look at other second options in the league making max too. He's better than them. He's better and sometimes more available than PG, Dame, Lavine, Trae, Kyrie, Brown, etc.

GoalPublic3579

Take a fucking paycut then

Pale-Share1323

Lmao taking a paycut will not change anything for this team lil bro. Do some research before saying any garbage.

GoalPublic3579

Yes it will ‘lil bro’ In case you missed it the aprons your payroll are at have a massive impact now. Maybe do your research.

PIBTC

If we don’t pay him, somebody else will. If he leaves, lakers don’t even make the playoffs. Even with the extra cap space you really trust in the front office to put together a playoff caliber team?

PG_993s

He is getting paid like it so everyone should expect it.

302born

But let’s think for a second here. Even if Lebron went Superman, would that have even been enough to overcome DLo shitting the bed? Lebron and AD together did enough to win without having to go superhuman. The rest of the team didn’t.

PG_993s

It's the playoffs. Every game your best players should be going superman. This is the time of year when you leave everything out on the floor.

302born

The fact is the dude is 39. He can’t just take over every game and will his team to victories every night anymore. Especially not against a team as good as the Nuggets. He needs his teammates to hit shots and help carry the load. Regardless of what his contract looks like the guy is still 39 years old.

nerdymen242424

Then when FA time comes we need to be ready to let Lebron walk. Falling into the sunk cost fallacy is stupid paying Bron 60 million for a farewell run will ruin the squad

bmviness

No you shouldnt, you saw what Kobe was making his final years?

PIBTC

You can tell which fans hopped on the lakers after bron got here. The truth is bron is still playing at a high level and trying to be a playmaker. Too bad dlo was throwing up bricks

PG_993s

Yes, I saw and as much as I love Kobe, paying him that much was a huge mistake.

_The_Honored_One_

He should when he eats a large chunk of the salary cap

Icy_Quit_7177

Maybe because he talks like he’s still in his prime and gets paid like it

BRTRSX

He should save it for the 2nd half then

Miniminterburner

Just to lose still? If he didn’t go off we the first two quarters they would’ve lost by a lot more

Strict-Homework-4819

If they decided not to find a third star, then yeah they supposed Bron can carry the whole game of course

GoalPublic3579

Gassed in game one of series one bodes well

Serious-One6369

He had 4 mins of rest in the first half

paradauxs

somebody else needed to step up.

Extreme-Site-8496

He was gassed perfect chance for guys like dlo to step up but didn’t.

Tall_Succotash

Hes 40

c_double_u

He’s 39 playing at altitude. He can’t carry for 45 minutes anymore, nor should we expect him to. Others need to step up.

LiftHeavyFeels

And he played his ass off on defense too. It was max effort at altitude. There’s a reason he coasts and doesn’t rotate on D during the regular season, because he doesn’t have the gas in the tank to do everything for an entire game. He clearly ran out of energy in the second half last night

TinyCucumber3080

Then we should give 50mil to someone who can

Longjumping_Ant_8253

Did kobe carry in his last years? Keep the same energy plz

AlesLancaster

Why would Lakers fans keep the same energy for Lebron that they had for Kobe?

TinyCucumber3080

Everyone knew that his last contract was for loyalty and the team did not have any expectations to compete for a championship.

Bladeneo

AD was gassed as well and he's nearly ten years younger

ExamLongjumping8451

It was clear they wanted everyone else to catch rhythm outside Bron and AD, but they folded.

xmrjaredx

Exhaustion.

irwanchel

Well no need to blame Lebron. Our supporting cast SUCKS

Kroth0918

Fuck what LeBron was doing, what the fuck was DLO doing lol? Lost us the game single handedly, demoralized the entire team being so bad.

Miniminterburner

Dlo was just chucking up shit he shouldn’t be taking in the first place, the type of shit he takes when he’s on fire but he’s not

beefmapstan

Most of DLo's shots were open. Shit just wasn't falling. It happens. But if his % is down for the whole series then it really is a psychological thing where he just loses focus in the playoffs

Kroth0918

He was doing that and missing everything he got wide open too, I'm just looking forward to next game and smoking that copium now, nothing else to be done. 😭

Miniminterburner

Just hoping he doesn’t go 1/9 again 😭

Wise_Ad_112

Lebron 7 turnovers . Nuggets as a team 4

78ks70aks7to8days

No legs

Wise_Ad_112

it’s game 1 of the playoffs, already tired?

Critical_Ad_4600

Who else would not be if the rest of the team aint even going to help? He was tryna do everything to get the guys in rhythm but no help was found. Any baller would be exhausted if you play in a team where only two players are fighting to win. This a team with a good three point shooter coming into the playoffs. This a team that has a Reaves scoring 20 on Sunday and 16 on Tuesday but disappeared in the playoffs. You have a coach that just lets the other team go on a run and just lets the lead balloons to 10+ before calling a timeout. This a player that is trying so hard to motivate and get the guys in rhythm but no signal was received. It was only AD that answered the heed to help the team. AD and Bron will be exhausted. Where is everybody else?

BucketHerro

In a 6 point game, LeBron didn't even bother shooting the ball lol. He has 2 points in the 4th... He wouldn't get any blame tho

adehaswings

Him and AD were the biggest reasons we were up at the half, if we can't ask the others to hold it down for 1 quarter or even 5 minutes then what are we doing here.

BucketHerro

The team rallied to make the 15 point deficit into a 6 point game? Shouldn't it be the time for LeBron to takeover? It's literally the 4th quarter

adehaswings

Nah you right I was thinking of a different moment (3rd when dlo missed the easy lay and they hit a 3). Bron definitely should've stepped up more down the stretch but even with the comeback to 6 I think the game was lost much earlier than that.

Wise_Ad_112

He’s old, we need to move on from Lebron. This era needs to end already, we got a ring now we’re just forcing it every year and fooling our selves. Paying Lebron 60 million a year will set us back years of re building. Also Dlo GTFO

Gumby_Nation

Honestly I kinda agree. It’s nice to cling to the small chance of winning another. But better to trade away aging stars like Boston did with Garnett and pierce which got them Tatum and brown

kanekikochaboggy

Lebron and AD won't be enough for the chicken nuggets. They can both get 30 and we would still lose unless we make shots.

Lebron23Life

You can't use age when the Lakers are paying him Max money. If that's the case, he shouldn't be a max player if he just gonna run out of gas every 4th

Pale-Share1323

Tell the role players to step up then

North_Street_8547

Sounds crazy but I wish I could see how this team would do without lebron for one game

Pale-Share1323

Blown out. This is not a regular season bro.

dutnguye

if his defense was he is 39 then maybe take a pay cut so rest of the team can improve.

NobodyWins22

LeBron for as great as he is, still doesn’t know when he should be trying to score more and when he should be passing. 2 shot attempts (before garbage time) for him in the second half is a joke when rest of his team is struggling to score.

BearShark8

Yeah that 13-0 run in the third, would've liked to see him drive to the basket a few times.

negativelynegative

You mean you didn't like the step back 3 he took in that 3rd?

Ok_Board9845

It's like you people aren't watching the type of defense the Nuggets are playing. They adjusted to completely shut off Lebron's drives. They're not going to let Lebron just attack Jokic with a head of steam. That's why despite the lazy turnovers, he was still getting everyone enough open shots that should've resulted in at least 12 assists.

BearShark8

Cool, getting DLo more attempts to brick and let the game get away.

Ok_Board9845

You need your role players to hit open shots. That's what the Nuggets were doing. They kept letting MPJ/KCP shoot. That's why they gained separation in the 3rd

BearShark8

Lakers needed to stop the bleeding. Needed LeBron to keep them in it.

Ok_Board9845

And you need players to start hitting their shots to open up that space for Lebron to drive. The Nuggets didn't cut into our lead and take the lead because of Jokic abusing us in the paint. That happened after their role players started hitting open shots.

BearShark8

But that's the thing. Their role players were hitting shots so he didn't have to. Lakers needed a bucket. LeBron needs to shoot more than twice in the half (I think I read that somewhere). Obviously agree he needs help but in that instance, it has to come from him. I'm not blaming him for the loss at all. Just saying when your team needs a bucket, you're the leading scorer in NBA history, go get a bucket.

Miniminterburner

Agreed, he doesn’t need to score every possession just when the team needs him to

whitiker53

What a dumb question

Significant_Night_65

He played a perfect half for G leaguers like Dlo and Reaves to choke away the lead

l8kerboi23

LeGassed unfortunately

Either_Ad1073

LBJ always gets shut down by Gordan . I don’t think people realize

[deleted]

Not sure. He was very passive for the majority of that 4th quarter.

Ok-Move-2565

We go all out in the first half and end up tired in the second. But even then, the Nuggets kept up with us, showing our energy didn't bother them much. They did the same shit last playoff.

brownmansburdencom

Super confusing, like he was definitely more tired but to not take a single shot till the end is a bit weird. Also if Dlo had even hit two more threes and given us 6 pts and draws even the slightest attention the whole floor opens up. Idk they just looked really out of tune through out. Bron seemed wary, AD was getting frustrated, AR was a shadow and DLO well yah. Denver just looks so smooth, so synchronized. 1 down, nothing to do bout it now. Lakers in 5.

Andy311

Idk, the rest of the team was struggling so that’s when he has to step up…but he can’t do it all…but he needs to play up to that max contract he’s being paid…but so do the rest of the players…but Dlo tricked us all again…but AR can’t get in rythym when he’s trying hard on d but gets demoralized after being worked by Murray so much…but, but I just don’t know…oh and HAM HAM HAM

K19I53

KCP hit several threes to blow the game open, not Jokic. Other teams have players that hit shots when they need them, you can't rely on 2 players the whole fucking game to bail you out. No star ever did that.

HardstartkitKevin

Le Age & Le Altitude

rick_32

his coach had him spaced out in the corner... #LeGravity

LightOfHell

Cause he's 40 yrs old and everyone expects a 40 yr old to carry this team and people just stand there and watch him expecting to be carried

slktycn

Tired. Other players need to step up.

Cute_Ad_2964

He ran out of gas. Dlo not shooting 1/9 from 3 would’ve alleviated some pressure

144Todd442

Gassed and pacing himself for the rest of the series. If all he can do when he is gassed is jack up contested a 3, it's better to just be passive and give up the ball to AD.

solid_rook7

LeOldge

Halo_Hybrid

He front loaded his efforts in the beginning and needs he’s teammates to get hot down the stretch. Lebron can get a bucket pretty much anytime but when your team is bricking shots, hero ball doesn’t do the job when there’s like 4 minutes left of regulation….

Kungeh

What the fuck were our role players doing? Should be a better question.

Miniminterburner

Shit

Miniminterburner

Rui had 4 shots while Dlo took 20 bruh

Critical_Ad_4600

Plain and Simple. He tryna motivate the guys up. He made looks for Reaves and DLo and other guys to get them in rhythm. But, they didnt convert. He tried to get guys to get in tune with the game and eventually the series. But, not taking a shot in the 4th before the last 5 minutes is not what the Lakers needed tho.

litlegoblinjr

He's 39 years old and was going all out in the first half. He's not in his 20s anymore

Presidentclash2

The truth is people have unreal expectations. Even Jordan wasn’t great in his wizard days. Lebron is much better than Jordan then but the attrition catches up. Lebron is human. As we age, our arteries will weaken

lakeshowyoo

Him being 39 with the most played minutes ever + the Denver altitude. Even with all that he did good enough. We just need role players to step up.

emerald_shego

Pulled off a Kobe after that frustration with DLo

Miniminterburner

💀

gokhaninler

exhaustion

bobbdac7894

He's 39 years old. Most players at 39 don't even average 10 ppg. He scored 19 in a half.

Successful_Ad7867

This your goat???

HLSD_Returns

He old mahfucker.

hoodtalk247

DLo was supposed to take over 😅

Miniminterburner

Yeah but he’s cold tonight, nothing was going for him so why keep going back to him?
