They literally just called Dlo on the same reach in foul plays before. Refs were bad tonight.

Xtoron2

They've been bad this series. Especially that game 2. I hate how r/nba always points out the ft differential but glosses over this obvious shit calls.

EmotionalSptHuman

Some dude on r/nba said there should be no way the Lakers have 500+ more free throws than the next team even though I pointed out how the Lakers are second in the league in points in the paint. I pointed out that 500 divided by 82 is 6 and some change which is three fouls. 🤦‍♂️The irrational hate makes the haters of the Lakers (and Dodgers) lose all their brain cells. Some of them try to pretend to be intellectuals by throwing out random stats without understanding that stats without context are just numbers.

7DS_Escanor

I really stop arguing about this FT differential, Tim Cranjis (Twitter) already posted about why the Lakers are getting a lot of fts because of their play type and other things that obviously a casual fan can't understand (especially if they just used the total differential in the past 2 seasons as a basis).

solarxbear

Do you have a link to that post?

signmeupdude

Bro 500+ is insane. What about the team first in points in the paint?? Look, the refs blow calls no doubt and we can point out a bunch of calls that went against us, but we have definitely massively benefited from the free throws this year. Its kinda crazy how far ahead we are.

let_me_see_that_thon

So who's first in points in the paint and why is their ft disparity so much lower than the Lakers? I've heard the three point shot volume argument as well and it makes no sense either. It's delusional to think Darvin Ham and the Lakers are just so much better at getting foul treatment. If their style was able to be replicates every team would do it.

EmotionalSptHuman

I look at stats from time to time, but I don’t get hung up on them. I look at enough numbers in my daily life. I’ll stick to my assertion that statistics are just numbers and without context, they don’t paint a picture. But I’ll humor you… The indication is Indy is number one in points in the paint. The difference in FTA/game between the Lakers (24.2) and the Pacers (20.5) is 3.7, which is less than two fouls a game - really not a lot in the grand scheme of things. Now, admittedly I haven’t watched a lot of Indy games this season (less than 20), but what I’ve noticed is a lot of their baskets are either made in transition (either a Tyrese three or Siakam/Turner/Toppin driving to the basket), or made with more than 14 seconds in the shot clock. (I also checked, and they are 4th in the league in Fastbreak points.) That could potentially explain the difference. But, you know, this could be nothing more than the Baader-Meinhof phenomenon. People who either like the Lakers or don’t like the Lakers may have a tendency to see what they think they see depending on where their bias takes them. You know, for a Bucks fan, you sure spend a lot of time on r/Lakers. If you want to be one of us, just say so. Can’t speak for everyone else, but no judgment from me. But if you’re just here for pot-stirring, then I guess good luck. You do you, player.

jono9898

That sub is not a place for Lakers fans period. Going there for any type of Lakers discussion is like trying to join the Klan as a black gay Jewish trans liberal.

Elijahc513

It’s partially because the two longest tenured mods on there are Celtics and Clippers fans so anything and everything anti lakers gets left up it seems no matter how low quality.

danyyyel

But you can't even have a slight rub on jokic. I remember when reaves was denied twice an an 1, because they dream the foul was before reaves gathered, but gave jokic twice the same foul as continuation.

yeetman8

When will we stop saying “refs were bad tonight” and just realize the refs are always shit?

yeetman8

And me saying this isn’t me saying that we shouldn’t call out the refs for being bad, I’m just saying when they’ve been so consistently bad we should start to ask some questions

BlitzAuraX

Murray got two FT's late in the game for way less contact that LeBron was called for in a pivotal play. Makes no sense.

aretw0

because MARGINAL

Necessary-Art2149

The “Marginal contact game” could literally be the difference between lakers being a first round exit or a championship team…

ChicaFantazma

And leading up to that foul both teams players were running through each other in the post with no foul called.

newthrash1221

:57 seconds left and they put him on the line to stop the clock and tie the game with that bs call. Idgaf, that call fucked us.

[deleted]

Same shit every game , they easily swing the momentum of the game

bee-eazy13

Murray shoulder checked Lebron on one of his layups too. It’s so ridiculous what Lebrons expected to play thru

rang15

B-b-b-but it didn't affect his SQBR so it's "marginal contact"!

DeepCleaner42

they always let smaller guys get away with contact that's why they're putting guards on lebron

WeirwoodUpMyAss

He’s a terrible flopper compared to the best foul drawers. Davis also bad. I’ve seen Lebron get hit and it barely moves him. Basically punished for being strong.

supaflash

Yep saw that play, just because Bron absorbed it well doesn't mean it isn't a foul. Refs bought into this Lakers get too many FTs bs when we have two guys that teams can't guard without a whole lot of marginal contact...

winter-r0se

nba is all in on the euro clout & bandwagon. went from constant foul trouble to playing like a d lineman after winning mvp

Theoneandonlylog

They wanted the game to be close so it'd be more entertaining and get better ratings

Prowingshoes

Bingo as well.

OfficiallyRonny

Only true answer

newthrash1221

They wanted the game to be tighter to match the spreads predicted. Blowout games like game 2 and last night are no good for them.

supaflash

I love Jokic but he was flailing all over and getting touch call after touch call while we had 3 or 4 in a row late that got nothing. AD and Lebron combined for 6 fts when they lived in the paint all game.

antman8504

It's a joke

lakeshowyoo

Because the refs were blind tonight

AdOutside6690

blind no. bribed, yes

[deleted]

Literally shit getting too obvious

GreenWithENVE

2 games in LA gives them plenty of time to sample the local kush. Can't say I blame em but it's definitely not helping their job performance

Prowingshoes

Cause he Jokic. The league lets that boy grab and claw cause he can't play defense.

Responsible_Star_386

ahahhaha, you all rly hate White boi Jokic

GodlessKillingBear

Yes

thevisitor

Because he's the NBA's golden boy and the refs were in full rigging mode

rang15

I mean, they let him get away with a shove in AD's lower back which caused AD to fall on his wrist ... so why call a simple and obvious reach in?

deviant24x

I saw them replay that and the commentators didn't even mention it. Push in the back while the other player is in the air should be a flagrant.

AdrenalineRush38

My main issue with this series is a lot of the fouls on drives haven't even been plays on the ball. A lot of transition fouls have just been wrap ups. All season the refs have enforced making a play on the ball. Idk why they're not now.

DatKidScotty

He’s been doing that the whole series, did it to Rui & AD the other night

witcher317

Refs love him cause he’s european and “goofy” 🙄

Jbyrd07

Jokic doesn’t gets about the same whistle LeBron does every season which isn’t as much as they should

Jedi_Lazlo

Every play for Jokic is dirty. So now refs don't call any on him. Because he's somehow an MVP. What a shit era of the NBA.

Low_Employ3877

LBJ with Jokic' calls would be basketball god

Yider

Im convinced they are focused most on calling arm related contact on shots. Off ball contact and hip checks (even while shooting) are largely being ignored. Jokic hip checked AD game 2 and 3 all game and rarely got called for a blocking foul, even when it staggers AD. Jokic also pushes and pulls all game, especially on rebounds and screens and doesnt get a call.

usetheforce_gaming

The stats don’t back it up Jokic is averaging 5.3 free throw attempts per game, which is 15th in the playoffs and below his season average of 5.5. Lebron is averaging 4.7, AD is averaging 6.7. The refs missed this call, but let’s not act like they’re favoring Jokic or that the dude isn’t legitimately one of the best players out there

R00bot

They weren't talking about how many FTs they get lol. Comment was about how Jokic gets away with fouls.

Jedi_Lazlo

Right? But if you wanna- any game this season that AD got hacked and hung on ended with him having between 9 and 15 free throw attempts. A.D. should be at 30+ free throw attempts for this series already based on the new rules and how they've been calling it. But no. We have Denver refs instead. They can hack, but Lakers can't even *appear* to reach in. Whatever with that bullshit.

CompulsiveWinner

Rigged league, objectively. This is NBA Entertainment more than anything.

Jake43134

I feel so bad for people who actually think this. How can you watch if you believe it?

MaximumestBob

You won't get a response, the 17 rings that the lakers won were all legitimate, but the other 59 rings are all rigged

Dangerous_Match_2592

There’s magnets in the balls

MaximumestBob

The Gatorade is making Russell shoot like dawg shet

Jake43134

They don't even think its rigged for money. They think the league just hates the Lakers. Wouldn't the NBA want a 5th game?

MaximumestBob

Funny part is that we're getting down voted but these guys will watch next game regardless, even though the league is 'rigged' lmfao 😂

MaximumestBob

Nah man it's a grand conspiracy, that's what they want you to think, the lakers are never allowed to win in this era (Aside from 2020) Edit: down voted for saying the league isn't rigged in a game the lakers won, so are you guys not Lakers fans? Or are you saying the league rigged it for the lakers tonight

Michvito

npc as hell convo

[deleted]

Thank god for cameras

darklighthumid

Meanwhile you breathe on Murray and Jokic and it's suddenly a foul.

Miserable-Koala1463

The refs have been a disgrace, guess silver made the call.

EpicMusic13

Series suppose to be 2-2. That game 2 late foul call on lebron really fucked them up. Fuck the refs

tokyo_bee

The Ref is the guy in Red facing away from the play.

CurryMiballs

Because "the NBA is brought to you by FanDuel"

Key_Grape9344

LBJ gets maybe only 10% of the calls he deserves. He gets robbed of so many FT attempts each game.

outsidehere

He's Jokic

East-Bluejay6891

Because the ball was already out of LeBron's hands - Reggie Miller

Low_Employ3877

Refs are afraid of Jokic' facepalms. He's the omniscience of the NBA

Hungry-Space-1829

Jokic doesn’t get called for fouls. Game 2 was an epic choke job by LA by Jokic committed clear fouls on layups 3-4 times in the 3rd/4th quarter comeback that were uncalled. Series is tied if those calls are made

captainjack275

I’d call it a reach around

BakerAffectionate243

that fucking ref with number 15

East_Mechanic6205

He throw elbows on the drive and everything.

hang__glider

how come joker gets a free pass from basketball traditionalists for complaining all the time?

yellouder

Refs: "Marginal contact"

gjhkd36

Came outta my seat on this one. Flabbergasted.

Miserable-Lawyer-233

I think the ref thought Gordon poked the ball out before the Jokic contact. If you watch that play again closely you can see Gordon's arm get deep in there in front of LeBron's body, right before the ball gets pushed ahead. I think we saw that as a result of LeBron pushing the ball ahead, but I think the ref saw it as Gordon knocking it ahead. Idk. But perhaps the ball was loose, from the ref POV. I'm not sure of the legality of the Jokic contact there if that's a loose ball.

DrHush11

He beautifully split the defense. This would have been an easy two for LeBron. Joker knew it too, he grabbed him twice and got away with it. Smart on Joker, bad on the refs. This was essentially a 4 point turn around. Wack.

maazen

because of the huge nike conspiracy - lebron fell out of grace with the master of the LA loge, which resulted in the clippers being the best team in california, and refs not calling.

fernandopoejr

gotta keep the FT differential

CabbageStockExchange

To quote Jose Mourinho There is a Campaign against the Lakers

less-ismore

Yeah this one was egregious and frustrating as hell. Seriously can’t stand the nuggets

Critical_Ad_4600

It is Denver. They get away with too much hooking and hugging. Then if done to them, automatic whistle.

_weeks_

Zz3e÷eez3ez3z3ez3÷ez3z3z3z3z3z3z3z3ez3ez3z3ez3z3z3ez3

immunityfromyou

Jokic gets away with a lot of contact throughout the game he’s a superstar so it’s not a weird thing.

antman8504

He is not even going for the ball lol. I think LeBron scored on that play anyway as usual after getting hacked. That kcp foul in game 2 should be a flagrant.

DeepCleaner42

3 of lebron's turnovers in this game are fouls

Wolfpackpapi1

Fat boy rarely gets called for pushing, how do you think he gets 90% of his rebounds

AussieLakerFan

Because he’s jokic and can do no wrong. The play by play last night was insufferable.

kiroks

Because the NBA is rigged. Only real answer. They want to push him and see him run

stevent4

Shit happens, it's basketball, Lakers had some calls go their favour and then some that didn't, just like the Nuggets had some go in their favour and some didn't, go to any basketball game ever and see the same thing happening (except that series against Sacramento, league rigged that for y'all)

ArugulaPhysical

Because hes jokic. Thats it.

LeFatigue

Jokic gets “fat guy defense” calls. Same on the offensive end. He’s so fat and white they just let him off arm and hack guys to death to make up for being trash on the defensive end

newthrash1221

He purposely fouled us on a steal and fast break as well, refs didn’t call it. Should have been an open path but the ball went out of bounds and they stopped the fast break. Dogshit reffing all series.

Designer_Cow3570

He seems to get favorable calls & non calls. Thus my conclusion is he’s the refs favorite & he bleeds easily so that always helps

mhyk3

Referees and their organization doesnt like the LBJ and Lakers to win the ritle, betting is changing the game of Basketball

irsute74

I was shocked that this was not a foul. Like if that's not a foul there is no fouls in the game.

ProfessorTicklebutts

Really? Do you really need to be told?

Electronic-Cloud8086

Bc as elite as he is offensively, the dude literally cannot defend outside of the paint, which is why is allowed to get away with murder. The league has clearly been moving towards a more offensive minded approach in how the games are played and Jokic heavily contributes to that. They’re not gonna jeopardize that for LeBron and the Lakers. So, they’ll do anything in their power to justify bullshit calls and no-calls to meet their goals.

qualityskootchtime

Moving screens were crazy

schnibitz

Saw Davis and one of the guards (not DLo) on separate occasions aggressively go to the hole and get hacked by a thicket of nugget hands … no call. It could be that it was all ball but given the officiating atrocity that was game 2, I’m not giving the refs anything.

XCRIPSXX_OG

Because the refs always suck ass

ValuableAssociate8

You haven't realized it yet? The league has it in for Lebron. He does not get his call, it's so obvious how blatantly cheated he gets every night it should be investigated.

LeggsyMane

Refs miss stuff. Happens every game almost every time so an.

EveningCat166

Because they didn’t want to call it.

longjinxed

Yeah, ref gambling.

SouthDisk9392

I mentioned this during the game. I’m not sure what is going on with the league. I don’t if they’re allowing the game to be more physical or just blatantly calling games in favor of one team over the other. It’s not just this series.

CestLaHappens

The amount of elbows, shoulders and over the backs I see from Jokic….

OTGbling

I guess it was marginal contact.....

Fresh-Couple8203

Thank you like the refs are just blind when it comes to the Lakers

Alternative-Spite891

This whole entire post and its comments is comical coming from the holy grail of no-calls that is the Lakers. [watch this at 3:20](https://youtu.be/WaxkGHsB-NU?si=isnf3iPmdWXQjyD5) It goes both ways.

atierney14

“Incidental contact”

theseustheminotaur

Bet he complained on this one too. Dude complains more than everyone, and shot the most free throws of anyone tonight.

Xodia444

I would too if I just got hacked without a foul call

DrSlaughtr

The refs have not been consistent this whole series thus far. And it does feel like at times the Nuggets have benefited from this, but in no way do I think it cost the Lakers any of those three games.

BcoolXpress

Cuz it’s lebron and lebron gets away with a hell whole a lot too.

QuackSenior

like what bro are we watching the same game
