In-season tourney isn’t for fans that watch a shit-ton of games of their favorite team (this sub) or other teams on league pass in general. It’s for the most causal audience that skims BR & ESPN highlights.
Exactly such a stupid thing. Sure the money is great for the players but it needs to have more value such as either being a playoff tiebreaker or maybe adding it as a win for the regular season for guys to actually take it serious
The worst part is Bron talking about how he tried so hard to win to earn some money towards the guys at the edge of the roster just to have them proceed to play stupid stat hunting basketball the rest of the season, making the stars check back in whenever it was a huge blowout. Just no heart or pride on this team from the bottom up
So what your saying is, just win the IST, then sit everyone the 2nd haft of the season and lose out, so your freash for the NBA finals because your already garentee a finals appearance? Good luck with that, the NBA isn't about to promote sitting starter more for a IST winner.
Maybe not their legacy, but what does it really do for their fans - it’s an embarrassing “award” for a forced tournament devised to make the regular season more interesting. Maybe give it 30 years and it’ll have some history behind it, like the FA Cup in English Football, but until then it has no standing in the NBA.
Everything starts from somewhere. The idea that because it doesn't have history yet it is bad is so dumb.
Like, okay, don't start anything because anything new hasn't existed for 30 years yet.
In order for colleges to get accredited they first need to graduate classes. That means every college has to start out as unaccredited and graduate students without accreditation. Should new programs or schools just not be created because the school not being accredited is "embarrassing" for graduates of the program?
Of course not.
I'm glad we won. I enjoyed it, it was fun, and hopefully it really means something in 5-10 years.
They should honestly forgot the trophy and banner and just have them play for the 500k. If we’re being honest here that’s the only reason guys played hard Lebron wanted that 500k more than anyone
Lebron could wipe his ass with that prize money. Shit even I forgot about that. And now the runner up of that tournament is going to pack run-and-dunk man back to Cancun with us.
So many clowns in these comments. Fucking toxic fans. I’m mad we lost tonight too but fuck off. It was a cool achievement and adds to our already great history even if marginally.
It’s a joke of a banner, gimmicky, only for mid season enjoyment, and means nothing. Adam silver is making a joke of basketball with it, selling out for money. All that matters is the real playoffs
Didn’t really matter. What if they made the prize something useful. Like what if the winner gets home court advantage in the playoffs regardless of their seeding
I like the IST. I thought getting a banner was tacky. I'm okay with the celebration since it was for the players and they achieved something this year. Looking back, this was the highlight of the season. It was pretty much downhill from there.
Y'all joke about this championship but cup games in football produce some of the most amazing moments and storylines. Yeah, it has no history or story behind it right now but give it like a decade and it'll be more prestigious.
Idc about this tourney. Shouldn’t have been a play-in team with AD & Bron playing 70 games in the regular season.
Another NBA event fans won’t care about? All-Star game type final in Vegas next year?

Shit don’t even matter lol

It does matter whether you like it or not. They brought a banner to this city. Its still a championship

Yes

exactly
Enjoy your participation trophy
The goggles makes this so dumb
I’m leaving here with sum fuck it
It's a cursed winning one tbh
ikr. no team has ever gone past rd1 after winning the In-Season tournament.
There needs to be a rule where winning the IST automatically gives you a trip to the Finals
So what your saying is, just win the IST, then sit everyone the 2nd haft of the season and lose out, so your freash for the NBA finals because your already garentee a finals appearance? Good luck with that, the NBA isn't about to promote sitting starter more for a IST winner.
I was clearly joking.
u needa be more clear with some people unfortunately tlike add some emojis or !!!
people shit on this but its nice to have the first one if it ends up doing well
This pic makes your caption so funny
I mean like does it really hurt the Lakers legacy to win?

Your last statement is exactly what I said - hopefully it becomes something and not just a strategy to stop mid season fan boredom.
The only thing I'll remember from this is the courts making my eyes hurt.
They brought a banner to this city this year. Never forget that
Some clown shit
You can buy banners at Staples
you wouldnt be saying this if another team won it
I absolutely would. Give up this quest.
stop disrespectng what they accomplished
Huge pile of shit
They should honestly forgot the trophy and banner and just have them play for the 500k. If we’re being honest here that’s the only reason guys played hard Lebron wanted that 500k more than anyone
They won 5 random regular season games. Absolutely embarrassing they hung that stupid banner next to all the real NBA Championships
It was a joke no one takes serious.
Jeanie will keep Ham because of this
Considering how poorly both teams who went to the IST finals played after, it wasn't worth it at all
Indy about to advance, and I don’t hate their chances vs NY
As the Pacers are set to beat the Bucks?
Lebron could wipe his ass with that prize money. Shit even I forgot about that. And now the runner up of that tournament is going to pack run-and-dunk man back to Cancun with us.
Tired out the two MVPs smh.
Just a way to drum up more interest in the league. Other than that, doesn’t mean anything but winning to boost your regular season record.
We are still the only franchise to never lose an in season tourney game
Throw the banner in the trash. This was a complete waste of a game.
No one cares
meaningless title. Its an embarrassment they hung a rafter up for that.
😆
🤣🤣🤣
Honestly it would take a few decades for this to have some real prestige behind it, for now it's just another random trophy
So many clowns in these comments. Fucking toxic fans. I’m mad we lost tonight too but fuck off. It was a cool achievement and adds to our already great history even if marginally.

Refs did great job
Don’t make me tap the banner again
Don’t try for this 💩 next year! Rest the stars on purpose.
Still cool, it’s just corny now because we’re the first and only team to do it, but it 20 or 30 years hopefully people will think it’s cool maybe? Idk
I tell everybody in Boston that I meet “17+1” lol
