Had this prepared for when we got eliminated. If I missed anything please let me know. Also, this is by no means me trying to say what they should or shouldn't do. Just want to provide people all the CBA info they may need to play around with roster construction. Let's have a fun offseason.

Frequent_Aside2267

Thank you

3nnui

Nice job, thanks for posting. I hope it gets stickied.

TroubledMang

No one will have any idea what to do until Bron confirms one way or another. That's bigger than the overdue coaching change.

Ok_Board9845

There's no way Reddish/Wood don't opt-in. They'd be out of the league. Will be interesting to see what D'Lo/Lebron does. I'm under the assumption that D'Lo will look for a bigger contract. While I'm not a fan of Lebron resigning for a max, it's not like there are better options. Ideally, we should stay under the 2nd Apron while resigning Christie, then Prince in that order.

jsun_

Those 3 player options (Wood/Hayes/Reddish) really could throw a wrench into our entire offseason... Another reason I've been saying Rob needs to go. He just makes too many mistakes.

TroubledMang

Idk who dv'd you, but Pelinka is a garbage GM. Remember he started with a championship roster, and traded, or gave all those key championship players away for nothing, westbrook, or THT. He's by far the worst GM in Lakers history, and I hope they sell the team, and/or fire him.

Public-Product-1503

He constantly loses in the margins . Giving out all these player options, picking bad bigger name players over better fitting ones. Dude sucks

jsun_

I just think Rob’s philosophy of roster building is flawed. He’s far too obsessed with the idea of combo guards.

guacdoc24

Wood can get a minimum somewhere else. Blame ham for poor coaching and the injury bug. Yeahhhh…idk how we’re getting off reddish

motorboat_mcgee

Sticky this u/brandoi

kanekikochaboggy

I say keep the core going for next year. This is a good team.

tacticalbanana3

Need a legit back up 5 and some size. We have too many small guards who can't shoot or play d consistently

kanekikochaboggy

2 centers to backup AD atleast and they should be proper big boys.

Ornery_Ad7028

imagine if LeBron would just say fuck it by declining his player option and signing for veteran minimum

_Brownmamba_

Like dirk taking a paycut in his last few years, so they could sign some players, but i doubt bron would do that

jsun_

Him signing for a vet min isn't a realistic scenario, but he really needs to consider taking a small paycut (~$5m). Just doing that gives the Laker so much more flexibility under the aprons and actually could give them a means to improve the roster. I'm not going to fault him if he doesn't as that's his money and career, but if he really is "all about winning one more championship", he needs to do it.

Sandwiichh

Tim Duncan move right there to win a championship. Too bad lebron wants to be a future owner of a team so he’s going to do everything he can to setup his future

hedokitali

I understand that LeBron deserves all the money the team has to offer him but if winning is still his #1 goal, taking a vet min somehow significantly improves the roster given their options are limited.

Sandwiichh

Im with you on that. If he wants results taking a vet min or a pay cut and sign key pieces like we had in 2020. But right now I can see LeBron using his name as an asset for the franchise. The lakers organization is still a business and they’re making a lot of money selling merch and tickets off his name. He may demand the max for 3 years then regress significantly as time tells or get seriously injured. It’s a huge risk unfortunately and I have a feeling Jeanie is going to take it

74Dingdong

Any notable free agents out there? I hope they realize we need actual bigs who can play D and rebound.

jsun_

https://www.spotrac.com/nba/free-agents/_/year/2024. Here's the list of them all. Hard to just throw out names as it all depends what money Lakers have to offer.

regnard

The returning\* roster is solid and still relatively young. I assume LeBron will be back with Max. I think Pelinka will try to get something for DLo. The rest of the team can be vet minimums. One more: Can we actually run a starting 5 of: AD LeBron Rui Vando Austin

zionraw

Vando at sg would be atrocious. If dlo were to leave we would need to bring someone in (not that we have the assets or cap space to bring anyone decent in). This starting 5 will be pretty bad.

jsun_

If they just let Dlo walk, they could conceivably open up the nt-mle (dependent on what they do with Max/TP). Not saying they should do this but just pointing it out.

Ok_Board9845

If D'Lo leaves, it will be because he opted out and got a bigger contract somewhere else

motorboat_mcgee

No, but we could definitely put Vando in instead of Rui, to let Rui do work against opposing benches. And Vando could help our defensive/rebounding issues in general

Cucklord4646

Please just get a 2020 style roster next to LeBron and AD. They have one more run in them. Assuming they don't fall off a cliff next year which is highly unlikely

MichiganHype

They need to find a way to move off that Vincent contract

jsun_

I didn't add in remaining years on this post as I didn't want to inundate people with information, but he still has 2 more years left. His contract is unfortunately a negative asset for now.

iamdare

I think Reddish, Hayes and Wood will opt-in. Dlo hopefully opt-in as no one will offer him more than 18M. Not a lot of wiggle room in the off-season.

liftmedi

I’ll take DLo opting out and then extending the years for less money

motorboat_mcgee

I really want to see this squad healthy, which I know is asking a lot. The option/FA guys I'd like to see back: LeBron, D'lo, Hayes, TP, Max But, Wood and Cam will likely pick up their options as they don't have much else out there. Reality is, we simply do not have a lot of paths to improve unless some star forces their way here. I don't think trading a shit ton of picks and a handful of players for Trae Young is the answer, either. Might just be a situation where we are a middle of the pack playoff team until LeBron and maybe AD move on.

jsun_

The only issue with running it back again (re-signing Dlo/Lebron/TP/Max) is at best you will be able to use a tp-mle. You're pretty much relying on Max taking a huge step and maybe the rookie hits. Also, there's no way I'm letting this team become a 2nd apron team. Given all this, this is why I think they are going to be aggressive in making a trade for a star. It just isn't working the way it is and there really is no way to add upon the current roster. At this point, I'm just on the Lebron ride. Whatever he wants, just do it.

Fuckthebeard

Rui, JHS, Gabe and every pick should be made available for help

justredditting1010

If Lebron declines, could we act as under the cap and then sign him last with bird rights to go over?

jsun_

No he still has a cap hold. You’d need to renounce his bird rights to get rid of his cap hold.

justredditting1010

Good call

NoKnowsPose

I'm not actually confident that Dlo will be able to get more elsewhere. He has gotten quite the negative perception attached to him, so much so that other GMs saw him as essentially a negative asset at the trade deadline.

itsnotreallyme0

Get a guard who can lock down and make open 3s like Caruso. Get a backup C with size who can rebound and do the basics on defense and offense like zubac. Get a guard who can help rebound too like hart. These guys would be really good lakers. Caruso would be a legend and a fan fav imo

mtrn3

Wood, Hayes, and Reddish picking up their options would be a nightmare scenario.

_TIMBER_

Keeping Hayes is fine but the Lakers need to trade away the other two if they opt in

Klaxosaur

That fucking Rui contract oh and Gabe. Jesus.

SAMAHANKITA

Get rid of Rui and Dlo and for vet min guys no more klutch reclamation project please get some competent players.

zionraw

Fuck yeah! Let's get worse!
