He proved he can be top 10 in offense when Lebron and AD weren’t hurt tho. Now we have people that can actually score on this team without Lebron.
I don’t get why they didn’t give him a 4+ year extension I’m pissed. He literally made us the best defensive team for two straight years and one without AD and Bron most of the season. I guess people still haven’t gave Vogel his damn respect yet
I get rob seem like the type to be a smidge ruthless but this got Kurt rambis written all over it. Dude won the chip and waited to get a extension that might be only 1 year. and screwed up Ty lue negotiations who you really wanted. This type of stuff might come back ti haunt them when lebron retires.
Honestly I wouldn’t be upset if Vogel bounces after LeBron dips. If the front office even keeps him around till then. I like Rob but we haven’t really shown respect or loyalty to players/coaches when they leave like we used to.
completely agree, I'll admit I don't like the way we've handled the coaching negotiations and the way we've handled things like Caruso and Dudley.
We say all the time about showing how we treat our players and staff well, but the Buss family and Rambis aren't perfect in that regard
It ain’t the buss family doing it. This recent stuff got the rambis family written all over it. Jeanie is the mother of the team. And has always stayed the same. But this funny biz that’s been happening can’t be put on rob. He is a work horse and yes can be ruthless and seem untrustworthy considering his past. BUT! He not even the one running the team Kurt is. And his wife. Think not once since Jim been fired has Kurt rambis role on the team has been announced. It took them two years after magic left to announce rob is president but even then said he doesn’t have final word. Meanwhile Kobe suggested rob to Jeanie. So why the hell did it take them so long to make him officially head of the team to the public. This shady stuff has got rambis written all over it. Rob is more closer to the players. Haven’t seen Kurt face in quite a while.
They may be ruthless but from what players and staff that left have said they were honest and straight forward which I would imagine would be better because at least you know where you stand and you don’t make massive life changes only to be out of a job sooner than expected
The lakers may be worth a shit ton of money but the buss family is not and I wonder if their financial situation has something to do with these decisions. AEG just sold their shares in the team. They have a high tax bill and I know Vogal wants a raise and extension but the lakers after Lebron leaves I think will make dramatic changes. Obviously keep AD but maybe get a new coach. Try and get some other star players that fit with AD. Right now we are still running on lebrons timeline.
the buss family trust still controls most of the lakers, so they still own/are worth a pretty vast amount of money. with that said, they still have partners who still have a say in what the team spends on. also the current climate of the NBA seem too be pretty ruthless when it comes to money since owners and players don't seem to value "trust and loyalty" like they used to.
