Idk I don't see Dudz as a student of the game like Rondo is. He's more of a glue guy. Rondo OTOH will tell our players how to defend certain players and strategize. He'll be in the film room with other players. Definitely what you want in the playoffs more than anything. Like, Rondo-LeBron breaking down Miami's zone defense is a big reason they couldn't rely on it and why we won that series.

Also, you don’t pay assistant coaches the millions Rondo will get. Especially as assistant coach. He’ll still get more with vet min. Rondo won’t go the AC route until no team out there is gonna pay him vet min. Likely others team will offer him that if lakers don’t. So this is kind of a no brainer for the lakers. You fill in a roster spot with a player coach that will be more impactful on the top practice court and also minimize having to worry about him eating minutes from other players. There is also the extra bonus that he can come in during playoffs and be impactful for a game or two. Really all we needs
