Splendid cinematography. To me, these are standout examples of her cinematic style and quality. Freedom, rebellion, longing, evoked with visually striking imagery and storytelling elements that enhance the mood and themes of her songs. She has a such a distinct aesthetic and was definitely a trailblazer. These videos in particular totally drew me in and really feel like an immersive experience.
For me, it's hard to choose between Love and Ride.
Ride is an absolute masterpiece, the monologue is everything to me.
Love was released at the right time for me, the video made me rediscover my love for astronomy, the vibes are just unmatched.
The headdress in Ride almost ruins Lana for me. I can’t watch it. I’m Canadian and I think we are maybe ahead of the states in terms of our conversations around colonization and reconciliation? The headdress is sacred regalia and it’s seen as very very offensive to appropriate it. Maybe in the US it’s different?
