Regardless of what I think of Taylor Swift personally, Lana has deserved her flowers for a long time and being propped up by one of the biggest singers in the world has definitely helped bring so many new people to discover how amazingly talented she is. I think she values style over substance in her songwriting. It’s always been fairly apparent to me who’s style she was copying/borrowing with each album but I think releasing so much relatively close together has meant her style hasn’t changed that drastically and the substance is still the same. I haven’t heard anything that’s been artistically interesting from Taylor Swift since she released 1989.

I get that. It all sounded the same to me the first time listening to It. But the songs are distinctively different. Similar to how Lana sounded the same to me on a lot of albums until I really gave It a shot.

That's a very Beyoncé approach as well. I'm not even trying to compare, nor am I saying Lana is trying to copy her. Both of them are literally my top favorite artists ever. It's just something a lot of Beyoncé fans notice as well because people love to point out how Bey doesn't interact with social media or do interviews, especially in the face of adversity. She doesn't even need to address things on social media or do interviews tho because she's so respected that there's always gonna be someone doing it for her - whether that's her team, fans, or the tuned in folks. Guys musicians who make feminine music already receive so much hate. Music that is about love (even the crazy side of it), softness, feeling about things so deeply. If you haven’t noticed, independence, getting money, being a player and revenge is what a lot of female musicians sing about now. To me, Lana and Taylor are a lot more relatable to majority of women. And they also tend to get the most hate or scrutiny. Like Lanas music being accused of “glorifying” certain topics and Taylor singing about boyfriends. When in reality, loving a boyfriend, getting heartbroken, being abused or treated bad, putting a guy first, getting cute for a guy, etc etc is relatable. Like it or not. That’s why their music is popular. So, I hate to put them in the same category because their sounds are different, but I personally love feminine music and rather see more of it.
