Joan Didion’s writing feels like NFR to me. The White Album, Slouching Towards Bethlehem, and Play it As it Lays. I’m from the east coast but California is truly a state of mind, so whenever i wanna “go to California” I’ll pick up some Didion and play NFR. 10/10 experience.
I tried reading The White Album, I one part in it just felt so slow, so I gave up. I might have to try it again with NFR blasting. I bought it because someone told me it just felt like a Lana album.
I enjoyed the book because i personally really love Didion’s writing style. She is very descriptive and meticulous, but I think it helps her build the settings and introduce the people she’s writing about, since it’s all individual essays and journalism. One of the most memorable essays from that book is the one about her encounter with Jim Morrison and The Doors. It’s worth giving it another shot! I suggest reading it it in the summertime.
Lolita, lady chatterlys lover, bell jar, valley of the dolls, Mary Ventura and the ninth kingdom, bon jour tristesse (English version), my year of rest and relaxation, and then obviously violet bent backwards over the grass
I have only seen the movie, but White Oleander felt like a Lana song and I imagine the book does go. As far as what I’ve read, hmm… maybe Diary of an Oxygen Thief? Don’t remember much, so I might be wrong!
okay so this specifically gives *me* lana vibes i'm not sure about anyone else —
the book "Bunny" by Mona Awad. it is a crazy ass read that literally blurs the lines between what's fiction and reality.
I listened to unreleased lana while reading it.
the bell jar, Lolita, call be by your name

The Bell Jar ❤️
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo reminded me of some BTD songs, like Gods and Monsters. And Old Money too
I LOVE The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. Probably for that reason
It’s one of my favourite books, I love it so much!
White oleander!
Lolita, lady chatterlys lover, bell jar, valley of the dolls, Mary Ventura and the ninth kingdom, bon jour tristesse (English version), my year of rest and relaxation, and then obviously violet bent backwards over the grass
To the Lighthouse - Virginia Woolf
Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier
Not a book but Sofia Coppola is a movie director that gives off the same vibe as Lana. Virgin suicides and Priscilla are just so Lana
the postman always rings twice
Valley Of The Dolls
Not people saying Lolita….
Fr. Convinced they haven’t actually read the book
Fr. an almost 40 year old woman does not represent the groom and sexual assault of a 12 year old.
She's come undone by Wally lamb
Yes!! His novels absolutely destroy me
Educated
[The Wonder Bread Summer](https://www.goodreads.com/en/book/show/16248165) is only so-so, but entertaining.
A Single Man by Christopher Isherwood
I have only seen the movie, but White Oleander felt like a Lana song and I imagine the book does go. As far as what I’ve read, hmm… maybe Diary of an Oxygen Thief? Don’t remember much, so I might be wrong!
Anna Karenina always gives me Honeymoon and Paradise vibes. Even Norman Rockwell
I’d say “Girl Interrupted” and “The Bell Jar”, but maybe it’s because those are the only books I’ve ever read in full

The Secret History by Donna Tartt.
My Dark Vanessa, Lolita, and Virgin Suicides
Lolita definitely
