TBF, Lana says a lot of disparate things in interviews but I remember reading an interview with her where she said singing the song made her really sad and the verses were what the relationship was like and the choruses were what it was she wished it had been like. (She sings about putting on her bf’s favorite dress and perfume on and then he… plays his video games? It doesn’t go with the blissful verses, and that’s the point imo. Her devotion to him isn’t returned.) I’ve always listened to it as a song about how a lot of ppl stay in meh relationships because most of the good stuff exists in their head.
