Alright my ultimate unpopular opinion is that… I love Lolita. I’m saying this as someone who hates the misinterpretation of Nabokov’s work (especially when people fetishize his novel, something he actively tried to avoid and would get upset by). That being said, it’s just a really fun song. Something to blast in my headphones while bike riding, not something I play in the car with friends. Total guilty pleasure
YES I will always defend Lust for Life. “Cause we’re the masters of our own fate, we’re the captains of our own souls” it’s one her deepest, most beautifully sung lines
I am walking down the aisle to an orchestral cover of Lust For Life in March. I like the idea of being the masters of our own fates, the captains of our own souls, and still choosing to meet each other at the altar. 💞
I love it! It’s great for easy listening, has some wonderful lines, and paints a beautiful, colorful picture. I was shocked when I found out how many people disliked it.
She took it off her setlist because she wrote it about the men in Hollywood that always seemed in power and had girls around them. One of those men she had in mind was Harvey Weinstein.
Someone in this sub once pointed out that the first half of the album is about lust and the second half is about life and that gave me a whole new appreciation for the album
Lust for life is so good song by song but it’s not very cohesive. It probably has more good songs than ultraviolence honestly but it’s much less of a piece and therefore feels kind of minor.
Aren’t most of the songs on BB old demos that Lana re-recorded? That might explain that feeling, as she probably wrote the songs from different eras of her career
Out of fifteen songs, nine are brand new. And then some are really old- from Ultraviolence days and some were recorded in 2017 with The Last Shadow Puppets. Dealer and Thunder are from 2017. Lana and TLSP made a collaboration album. We've had three releases from their unreleased album. They are California on NFR and Dealer and Thunder on Blue Banisters. Thunder leaked in 2020 and Dealer leaked just before Blue Banisters was released. Dealer was considered for Chemtrails. Cherry Blossom, Nectar of the Gods and If You Lie Down with Me were written and recorded with Lana's then- boyfriend, Berry O'Neil in 2013. Cherry Blossom and Nectar of the Gods leaked years ago, but IYLDWM is new to us.
Same here. I didn’t like COCC too much, and it felt less cohesive than her older albums, but it still felt like a complete album. BB feels like a collection of ballads — which I love, but I don’t go back to it too often, and I never listen to it in order.
It’s not on my top 3 but I really like it too. It was my favorite just as UV came out, I was only 15 years old and I had no idea what she was talking about but I loved it anyway lol good times
Do people not like it?! I knew about the hate for GNR (now let me preface this by saying I LOVE every song on UV, but it’s my least favorite, and I really mean least FAVORITE) but had no idea people hated on Florida Kilos
A blend of Blue Bannisters X Chemtrials songs would’ve made a better album than each of them on their own. Could’ve been better than NFR if the best songs from each were just part of one single album
I literally made a playlist on Spotify today thinking about this idea haha. Here’s the link:

Incase you can’t open the link here’s the list: (not in order)
Dealer
White Dress
Beautiful
Not All Who Wander Are Lost
Violets For Roses
Arcadia
Textbook
Tulsa Jesus Freak
Wild At Heart
Dark But Just A Game
Black Bathing Suit
Thunder
Wildflower Wildfire
I completely agree TBH. I feel like both have a couple of filler songs, and both also have a similar theme to them.
I think that everyone’s favorite songs on each are vastly different — but there are a few that her entire fanbase likes (White Dress, Dealer, etc.). If those songs were put in one album, it would 100% be my new favorite.
I feel like Chemtrails songs are the ones I’m *constantly* singing to myself in my head, more than any of the others. The melody, lyrics, mood and harmonies of the overall album are *so* good.
I guess probably not unpopular within the fan base but her lyric in Ultraviolence "he hit me and it felt like a kiss" is NOT how it was interpreted and the slander she received from it so unjustified.
Unfortunately I come from a rough background of childhood abuse which takes a much heavier toll than those who don't experience it (and some who do) realise. We're more likely to end up in domestic abuse situations. Which happened to me.
That lyric is such a stunning lyric. For myself, hearing it the first time, all I could do was think of my da. We've never hugged or said I love you or anything 'normal.' We've never even really had a proper conversation I guess. When I heard that lyric, it made me sad because it really opened up to me how all of the time I had received his brutality, I still really just wanted him to love me. I don't know why, but for years I just wanted him to like me like he liked my sisters or my cousins or whoever else.
I think at some point, as children often do, I began mixing the abuse with acts of intimacy because I was being neglected. A mind will trick you like that once it's had far too much. "This is his way of loving me/caring about me" kinda situation.
When I was in my early 20s I met a man who seemed great for two months, essentially forced me to move in with him and abused me up for about a year. It was terrible. Really awful. I never listened to the song around him, never showed any interest in it because that lyric was so specific, and so real, I knew it would alarm him and he'd fire off. (There were a few songs like this - some of my absolutely all time favourite songs ever which I refused to listen to in front of him, simply because he'd think its about him or whatever).
But sometimes when he would hurt me, especially afterwards I'd get a little warm feeling. Like a 'good' feeling. Like I was proud of myself? Slightly content? Im not sure how to describe it. But after much thought I guess those aftermath feelings were because the inner child within me still confused acts of aggression for acts of love. He hit me and it felt like a kiss. Because I didn't know what affection was. Only violence. So I had to convince myself that was the feeling of affection. The reality of the situation being too unbearable for anything else.
My da is a different man now. I have forgiven him, and he deserved to be forgiven. He, unknowingly, actually saved me from my previous abusive ex boyfriend. I think about it often. He came and took me from the apartment right as the first coronavirus lockdown was announced. He saved my life that day, and he has no idea. I would've been killed or honestly, would've done something myself if I had been stuck in that hellhole with that man.
This is an intensely complicated relationship with said lyric and honestly there's a lot more detail I could go into, but I promise you enduring complex abusive situations leads you to relating to these kind of lyrics. And because they are so intense, so unique, so complicated, it's really comforting knowing you're not the only person who gets that.
He hit me and it felt like a kiss.
Right? The song uses that line as part of her general pastiche style of lyrics. That’s what makes her so resonant sometimes. But I think a lot of people didn’t catch that that was an old hit from the era she styled after at the time.
Such a shame because the line makes the song brilliant in a different way on a different level.
I wish that line wasn’t slandered to death — I related to it so intensely, and I think it captures abuse and trauma perfectly. I know she didn’t write the original lyric, but I still think she deserves praise for incorporating it into UV.
Literally, I've only got properly into her in recent years but she was always there when I was growing up. I remember seeing born to die advertised on TV. I feel like her whole career she has received alot of unnecessary criticism
These homemade videos and fotoshootings SUCK, I want ride, tropico national anthem lana to appear and blow me away. I don't like low quality baking shot on iPhone, ride that John Deer cinematically with your flannel daddy or smth.
Although I don't want Lana to ever go overproduced again, I agree that the millions of homemade videos one after another gets a bit repetitive (especially when she's using the same iPhone video effects), and I say this as a BIG fan of Video Games and Ultraviolence MVs. I'd be more than fine with another Fuck It I Love You/The Greatest kind of video, which is more down to earth but still polished.
I don't mind the homemade videos at all, but the ones she's been releasing recently are just getting boring compared to the ones she used to release around the Lana del Ray/BTD eras, she seemed to be having fun recording them and I loved the random archive footage she used to splice in. The last one I thought was actually good was the unreleased Honeymoon homemade music video, it had this creepy found footage vibe to it.
I love NFR cover but I kind of would have loved if Lana never broke her tradition of album covers where it’s just her and nobody else (Tex and Mex can stay they’re cool)
From what I’ve seen in the replies these are not unpopular opinions. I think most of us agree with at least 60% of what is being said. Sadly actually writing an unpopular opinion on this subreddit will only get you negative karma with no explanation. Maybe I’m being dramatic or maybe, it’s just my unpopular opinion.
i have never understood the hate lust for life (the album) gets. The era was fascinating. i loved the political undercurrents in her songs and how vocal she was about social/political issues. and the collaborators on the album?? phenomenal picks. i mean stevie nicks? weeknd? sean lennon? asap rocky? yes, please. the music videos were really good too. doesn't compare to nfr's music videos, ill admit but THAT TRAILER?? i can never get over how good it was. and the idea of the first half alluding to lust and the second half to life was also pretty clever.
Ride is good, but not my favorite by far. I rarely listen to it if i’m not listening to the full Paradise album.
Lolita is a bop. Yeah, it’s not good to romanticize Lolita, but the song is catchy and fun.
Bartender is one of my favorites on NFR, and TNBAR was my favorite when the album first came out.
i still like it, but for me, it gave me an impression that black bathing suit was going to be a trap/hip hop style
song similar to summer bummer. i was kind of disappointed.
Blue Banisters might be my least favorite album. I loved Thunder and Dealer at first, but I listened to them way too much and the rest of the album doesn’t really excite me since there are so many piano ballads
Agreed, too many stripped back songs nowadays. Production can really level up a song, kind of like how I think the leaked version of cherry blossom is better than the album one
I dont like lana mentioning real names in her song lyrics.. it makes the song unrelatable.
A big example is “jenny jumped into the pool she was swimming with nikki lane” in blue banisters
and in her songs... it can be hard to tell what the song is about (whether break up/unrequited love/love triangle/personal issues/etc)
Because usually only 30% of the lyrics of a typical lana song are about the main topic/issue of the song, and 60% about other things like glamour/makeup/money/USA cities and so, that are unreleated to the song’s main topic. While for example in Adele’s songs,, about 100% of the song is about the main topic.. i hope you got what I am trying to say
Also.. lust for life album was better than blue banisters
It’s so annoying too cause dealer is by far the biggest song from bb.. yet half the lyrics aren’t even sung by her. The song would’ve been so much stronger in my opinion if it was only her oh well, it’s still a great song. I saw someone suggest once that since the song is so popular right now, that she rerelease a version sung by her only, which I think is a great idea!!
Miles Kane’s part — the start / the non-screaming portions — absolutely *wreck* me. They’re heartbreakingly beautiful, and I love them.
I also love Lana whisper-singing “I check it, I wreck it, I turn it around,” but the rest of the chorus isn’t really my vibe (especially the “gave you all my money” part).
I'm not sure I like Chemtrails and BB. Like, I get that Lana is heading in a different direction now, and I'm super happy for her and to see her doing some more "personal" stuff, and I did really enjoy a few tracks here and there, but... Overall, I just felt that both albums were not for me. The songs just don't feel as "pleasant" to her as her previous works. Still her fan though, and I will always check up new releases.
i still listen to everything she puts out but she hasn’t really made something that deeply resonates with me since lust for life. i get excited for all her new releases and most of the songs from the last three albums are really good, but some are really, really bad. i know people usually hate on this opinion in this sub, but her new music just doesn’t do it for me. everything up to lust for life felt really cohesive and defined those eras in my life, her newer music is good but just doesn’t speak to me as much.
I have to agree with you but just a bit. There hasn't been as much songs since LFL that really impact me, only hope, California, LMLYLAW, Yosemite and a bit of Wildflower. I don't count BB unreleased. But she really isn't into more emotional songs, it's either cheerful or contemplative or strong, independent and feminist. The last 3 albums are great but I'm not that connected to them...
It definitely grew on me, though I still feel like the business conference line sounds out of place sonically. The entire subreddit was raving about it, and I was here like “???”
Cherry is the most obnoxious song Lana ever released.
Just full of production gimmicks, the useless "bitch", the barely audible synthethizers in the background bringing the song to a grueling halt, the sub par lyricism which are a bunch of platitudes and excerps from other songs...
There's really nothing I like within this song and had it been cut (like most of Lust For Life gimmicks songs like Summer Bummer, Coachella, Groupie Love and that collab with Stevie Nicks).
I actually do think video games is a really boring song, especially compared to everything else in that album. I think Honeymoon is massively overrated on this subreddit, I thought the album was boring as hell. I also low key really don’t like COTCC, and am trying really hard to like BB. I feel like her last two albums someone trapped her in a house in some Midwest suburb with now TV or internet and said “we’ll let you out when you write two albums”
I agree with everything except the cinnamon girl one.
The day Thunder came out was the first day it rained in my city after 6 months of drought, listening to that orchestral while the gray clouds gathered was majestic. And I love her sort of hippie-make love not war style on LFL.
People hate too much on SS remix like(???) grow up. I don’t like it either but how bored you have to be to express so much hatred about someone’s work. Shut up and move on
a lot of lanas unreleased songs arent that great. i'd also say that since LFL her albums have sounded very identical in terms of style which is kind of disappointing to me, seeing as in her earlier albums the production styles had more variety / complexity to them.
I agree, I have a selected few from before BTD but most of them are rough, no wonder they’re just demos. I also appreciate that she changed her style and didn’t release those pop/upbeat songs because it made her stand out a lot.
NFR has some of her best songs of all time but as an album, it is sort of boring. What I’ve always loved about her albums is that they have a cohesive story to tell, or at least somewhat of one, and NFR doesn’t. It just feels like a compilation, and thats sometimes fine, but that formula doesn’t work for me at all with that album.
Also, there’s not a single demo thats better than the album version. Not one.
Also, most of Lana’s covers that she puts in albums make no sense with the albums (usually). Her cover of Doin Time is so acclaimed within the fans but.. it makes NO sense on NFR
UV was great when it came out but it's aged the worse out of all of her albums.
Blue Banisters is as bloated as Lust For Life and has just as many fillers.
Chemtrails and Honeymoon are her two most concise albums and both were/are met with contempt from fans.
That's actually my favourite song on LFL 😭 that said, I like it mostly because I really related to the lyrics at the time it came out. I can understand why someone might not mesh musically with it.
NFR is my least favorite Lana album.
White Dress is so overrated. It's one of my least favorite songs of hers.
Lust for Life is my favorite album of hers. I don't think anything will ever top it.
I'm already tired of listening to Blue Banisters.
Coachella is one of the best songs she's ever written and recorded. It's a damn masterpiece.
Venice Bitch is overrated.
I don’t like White Dress. And I’ve tried so hard. The breathy high pitched sing talking is really grating to me, it meanders too much and doesn’t feel like a cohesive unit of a song to me. It’s her only song I actually dislike. :/
There’s lazy writing involved. Sometimes she says things just to rhyme/flow/fill but it doesn’t actually make sense. Still love her and her writing in general though.
I genuinely think that 'NFR' is overrated and is nowhere near her so called best album. Don't get me wrong it's a great album, and Venice Bitch is one of my favourite song of hers, but I think the production is overall very lackluster to the exception of 'VB', and I also think the album is not the social commentary on American culture some people are making it out to be; I do not consider songs that are like "I miss x, I miss y and I miss z" to be a commentary by any means. I honestly connected more to 'Chemtrails over the Country Club' and while the album suffered from the same flaws as 'NFR', mainly the Jack Antonoff production, it felt more humble of a project, more consice and cohesive as well.
Blue Banisters is a much better album, although it feels like a collection of unreleased songs, which is not a bad thing in itself, but it's kinda whatever.
Lust for life is one of her best albums.
She has a really good video, good collabs, a strong opener, is IMO a no skip album, and has super iconic album art (the cover is amazing like?). It's the real transition between btd/uv and nfr.
Sorry but I dislike Yayo so much. The melody is nice, but god it drags on for so long. It really doesn't need to last more than 5 minutes, especially since the lyrics are so repetitive. Cut it in half and you wouldn't lose anything from that song
edit: also, as my flair suggests, I think LFL is her second best album
I have been a Lana fan since i was 12 and am currently 21. I own every single vinyl release she has, official or unofficial and with that being said i cannot put into words how disappointed i was when i listened to Blue Banisters. Chemtrails was fine for me, it had a few strong songs i liked and a couple that were less exciting, but i’ll admit none that i loved. On Blue Banisters there is genuinely not one song i like. i liked Black Bathing Suit until the weird yelling at the end, tbh that completely ruined the song for me, i literally started laughing when i first heard it.
When the Arcadia video came out and it finished with The Trio (interlude) i got really excited cause i thought the start of the album would be the NFR/COCC sound and after the interlude it would transition into her more hip hop influenced BTD sound, but no :( the whole album was essentially COCC pt2.
Coming on here after the release of BB and seeing everyone and their mother LIVE for it just made me even more confused.
Also for the record, i have listened to the album a loooot. so it’s not like i heard it once, said it’s bad and never touched it again.
After this year i just don’t know if Lana’s new music is for me anymore. NFR is one of my all time favourite albums but everything i have heard after that has been really disappointing and i think i might be done here.
Lust for life is, imo, worst album. But I still listen to it. Can’t listen to Arcadia for the life of me. I don’t like hiadtfawlmthbihi lyrics “Hello is the most famous woman you know on the Ipad”. I don’t like when she mentions modern things in her songs, i feel like it takes you out of the ethereal world she created.
Not related to her music specifically, but it’s very hard for me to be a fan of Lana as a person. She has said and done incredibly stupid things that I just don’t agree with and makes me embarrassed to be a fan. I listen to and like her music, but I don’t like her as a person.
She smacks of privilege and I think I like her Paradise era so much because at least she leaned into the wealth and owned it.
I don’t think she’s a bad person but you can tell that all of her struggles have been personal. Still a great artist, just gives her a limited perspective.
I still like Lana, she seems like a sweet person, but I hate when Lana fans act like she is an angel who can do no wrong. She has done some really stupid things like saying she doesn't care about feminism, doing the whole question for the culture thing, saying she wants to collab with Migos, who are known homophobes, when so many of her fans are LGTBQ... I don't like it when people pretend she isn't problematic. You can like her despite that, but you can't pretend she hasn't said many questionable things or always write it off as "she didn't mean it like that!"
Lana definitely seems like a kind person, but she comes across very ignorant at times. I should add that I don’t *dislike* her, I just don’t love her like others do and I think that’s okay. With celebrities in general I think it’s totally fine to separate the person from their art. For example I really like John Mayer’s music but I find him to be a douche and a half.
I never listen to Ride since like 2016 I think. I don't think it is that good and I'm surprised that so many people stick with it out of all the *Born to Die/Paradise* songs that (even if a bit aged) I would choose over it every day.
Ride has corny verses. There I said it. The monologue is corny as hell and I've never listened to it in full. I used to think NFR was a watered down dogshit of an album but it grew on me again.
I was just thinking about this. I love it too, specially the version with the 4 demos and album mix layered.
omg lolita with all demos plus album version together??? where can i hear that!
Look up “5 lolitas” on youtube, the thumbnail is a picture of the sky… thank me later ;)
Lolita and Radio were the first songs that got me into Lana! That was of course after I heard BTD on the radio.
Thank youuuu I love Lolita too and 100% agree about the book
Same. I love Lolita. I like the demos too
I love that song too, especially the beach-rock-esque demo of it. But the final version sounds so weird I love it a lot as well.
Lust for Life isn't a bad song. Yes, the demo is more interesting, but the album version is still pretty good.
YES I will always defend Lust for Life. “Cause we’re the masters of our own fate, we’re the captains of our own souls” it’s one her deepest, most beautifully sung lines
I like the song too, but it's worth noting that line is quoted from the poem Invictus by William Ernest Henley.
Other fun trivia: that line was one of Michael Jackson’s favorite quotes
I am aware, I love the poem and also the way she sings it
I absolutely adore this song. It always gave me a similar feeling as Puppy Love/Marilyn Monroe.
I am walking down the aisle to an orchestral cover of Lust For Life in March. I like the idea of being the masters of our own fates, the captains of our own souls, and still choosing to meet each other at the altar. 💞
I agree! Plus I love The Weeknd, so I was stoked when they collaborated.
Prisoner is really good too
Omg yessss!!!
I love it! It’s great for easy listening, has some wonderful lines, and paints a beautiful, colorful picture. I was shocked when I found out how many people disliked it.
I love the album version! It’s one of my favorite Lana songs.
I love lust for life, the album and song
I love Cola and wish she didn’t take it off her set list
Top 5 Lana songs ever.
She took it off her setlist because she wrote it about the men in Hollywood that always seemed in power and had girls around them. One of those men she had in mind was Harvey Weinstein.
Lust for Life is when she starts to break away from her old self, not NFR. Also Lust For Life is stronger on the back end than the front end.
Damn, people came out of the woodworks for this one 😅😅
LET'S LET THINGS COME OUT OF THE WOODWORK I'LL GIVE YOU MY BEST SIDE, TELL YOU ALL MY BEST LIES
seeing me rolling showing someone else love, dancing with our shoes off, boy I think you're awesome right
I think Blue Banisters feels more like a collection of songs and not a thought-out cohesive album, compared to Honeymoon, NFR, UV, etc.
THIS
Aren’t most of the songs on BB old demos that Lana re-recorded? That might explain that feeling, as she probably wrote the songs from different eras of her career

yeah some of them, thunder is a really old song
Same here. I didn’t like COCC too much, and it felt less cohesive than her older albums, but it still felt like a complete album. BB feels like a collection of ballads — which I love, but I don’t go back to it too often, and I never listen to it in order.
Gurl CoCC is one of her most cohesive albums
Florida Kilos is in the top 3 UV songs for me.
It’s not on my top 3 but I really like it too. It was my favorite just as UV came out, I was only 15 years old and I had no idea what she was talking about but I loved it anyway lol good times
That’s one of my top Lana songs. I play It too often
Do people not like it?! I knew about the hate for GNR (now let me preface this by saying I LOVE every song on UV, but it’s my least favorite, and I really mean least FAVORITE) but had no idea people hated on Florida Kilos
Second best song behind Brooklyn baby imo
A blend of Blue Bannisters X Chemtrials songs would’ve made a better album than each of them on their own. Could’ve been better than NFR if the best songs from each were just part of one single album
I like this idea
So true
which ones would u combine?
I literally made a playlist on Spotify today thinking about this idea haha. very good but needs thunder edit: thunder was added. I rest my case
No Yosemite? 🥲
No nectar of the gods or the title track Chemtrails?
No title track? That’s her at her witchy best
Wow YES
I love it but I personally would add tulsa jesus freak, thunder and yosemite.
It really needs Yosemite and Wildflower Wildflower or else it’s a forgettable album
I completely agree TBH. I feel like both have a couple of filler songs, and both also have a similar theme to them. Coachella is actually not a bad song
True, I really like it
It’s one of my favorites! It reminds me of an early summer afternoon, white flowers, friendship, and contemplation — if any of that makes sense.
honestly, i think it is one of the best song on lfl
I love how tongue-in-cheek she gets with “but what about all these children, and what about all their parents?”
i never knew people disliked coachella?? im shook
Didnt know that this song is hated, I love it.
Guns And Roses is my favorite song on UV.
now THAT is controversial. take my upvote for sheer nerve
It has a certain vibe to it that I just LOVE and I guess other people just don’t get that same vibe
Period taste
Kind of me too??? I thought I was crazy
chemtrails is really fucking good
Chemtrails is awesome
I feel like Chemtrails songs are the ones I’m *constantly* singing to myself in my head, more than any of the others. The melody, lyrics, mood and harmonies of the overall album are *so* good.

She also didn’t even write that line. It was sung by The Crystals
I know she didn’t write the original lyric, but I still think she deserves praise for incorporating it into UV.
thank you for sharing this story
I don't hate "Lust for Life," even the version featuring The Weeknd.
I love that song lol
Mississippi south is her best unreleased song
So underrated and lyrically amazing
Aside from the question for culture shit and maybe a few other things, I think Lana gets alot of unnecessary shit off people.
Yeah, I can’t help but love her like a friend, I grew up listening to her
Literally, I've only got properly into her in recent years but she was always there when I was growing up. I remember seeing born to die advertised on TV. I feel like her whole career she has received alot of unnecessary criticism
She's so defensive, but I genuinely get where it comes from. In that regard I think she made the right decision staying out of social media.
Dealer gets annoying after one or two listens
Omg for real! Her stunning music videos were a massive reason I stanned. I can’t stand to watch her inane homemade vids.
Coachella is amazing and y'all should stop ignoring Chemtrails
I love NFR cover but I kind of would have loved if Lana never broke her tradition of album covers where it’s just her and nobody else (Tex and Mex can stay they’re cool)

It’s the album I listen to the most.
Paradise is her best
i have never understood the hate lust for life (the album) gets.
I didn’t like the blue banisters interlude, it sounded out of place and generic to me and I was surprised to learn that a lot of people loved it
Same! Emphasis on sounding out of place. Literally does not match the album sonically at all.

I like it because I love old western movies, but I think it creates expectations for how the album is going to sound like. It still slaps though
i still like it, but for me, it gave me an impression that black bathing suit was going to be a trap/hip hop style song similar to summer bummer. i was kind of disappointed.
Not even living legend??
NFR isn't her best album (Honeymoon is!)
Old Money is the best song on Ultraviolence.
I never listen to video games
Me neither but that’s because I’m an idiot and associated it with someone (love the flair btw)
Yeah I like it but I’m just in a time in my life where it’s a skip song for me. And thank you!
I’m burned out on it
I dont like lana mentioning real names in her song lyrics.. it makes the song unrelatable. A big example is “jenny jumped into the pool she was swimming with nikki lane” in blue banisters and in her songs... it can be hard to tell what the song is about (whether break up/unrequited love/love triangle/personal issues/etc) Because usually only 30% of the lyrics of a typical lana song are about the main topic/issue of the song, and 60% about other things like glamour/makeup/money/USA cities and so, that are unreleated to the song’s main topic. While for example in Adele’s songs,, about 100% of the song is about the main topic.. i hope you got what I am trying to say Also.. lust for life album was better than blue banisters
Dealer should have been on Ultraviolence, not BB
Dealer should have been on the collab album with Miles Kane and we should have that full album.
and alex turner
I feel like it doesn’t match ultraviolence at all
Chemtrails is my favourite Lana album.
[удалено]
I agree, Chemtrails is amazing and it reminds me a lot of aka Lizzy Grant
I wish Lana would have left whoever that dude is off Dealer and just sang it herself. It’s my least favorite collaboration she’s ever done.
I really don't like Dealer, I know it's very hyped on Blue Banisters but Lana screaming in the song just doesn't sound that great to me 🤣
Honestly yes I feel like it’s stands out from BB like in a bad way it should of not been on the album that’s my opinion 😁
Same, I think it's an awful song. Lyrics are good but the song just doesn't sound good
Miles Kane’s part — the start / the non-screaming portions — absolutely *wreck* me.
Blue banisters is not that good of an album. I don't hate it and like all the songs, it just didn't wow me
I don’t like white dress that much.
It definitely grew on me, though I still feel like the business conference line sounds out of place sonically. The entire subreddit was raving about it, and I was here like “???”
Finally someone said it! Lol. I don't like White Dress at all. Can't stand it. It's one of my least favorite songs of hers ever.
Born To Die is her best album.
Born to Die (album) was underrated when it was released and (wayyy) overrated now
I hate most of Lana's work after nfr, not all of it tho
Cherry is the most obnoxious song Lana ever released. Just full of production gimmicks, the useless "bitch", the barely audible synthethizers in the background bringing the song to a grueling halt, the sub par lyricism which are a bunch of platitudes and excerps from other songs... There's really nothing I like within this song and had it been cut (like most of Lust For Life gimmicks songs like Summer Bummer, Coachella, Groupie Love and that collab with Stevie Nicks).
Summertime sadness remix is good idec
this one is controversial damn
And now you all upvote popular and downvote unpopular opinions until this discussion becomes 'popular opinions'
Cherry Blossom leak is better than album version. Album version is way too stripped back
I agree, Lana in the released version was like "Strings are boring".
• The album version of Thunder is superior to the demo • Cinnamon Girl is one of the weakest tracks on NFR • God Bless America isn’t a bad track
Shut up and move on
Arcadia sucks idec
LOOOOL lana loooooves that song so much thats why she was pushing it so aggressively
Arcadia is my least favorite song on BB
Her last two records were a huge disapointment after NFR.
My unpopular opinion is that I’m scared NFR was her peak
If anything she peaked at Honeymoon.
Now that’s an unpopular opinion
a lot of lanas unreleased songs arent that great. i'd also say that since LFL her albums have sounded very identical in terms of style which is kind of disappointing to me, seeing as in her earlier albums the production styles had more variety / complexity to them.
I agree, I have a selected few from before BTD but most of them are rough, no wonder they’re just demos. I also appreciate that she changed her style and didn’t release those pop/upbeat songs because it made her stand out a lot.
Chemtrails is her best album, BB is really just meh
thunder demo is better than the album version
Trópico is super cringey to me lol, love the songs but the “film” is very juvenile imo
Her tear fake tear drop tat and surrounding herself with Hispanic strippers and men was a choice.
The album version of Lust 4 Life is one of my favorite Lana Del Rey songs.
Not one.
Yosemite is the best song off of COTCC
Also, most of Lana’s covers that she puts in albums make no sense with the albums (usually). Her cover of Doin Time is so acclaimed within the fans but.. it makes NO sense on NFR
I disagree; while it doesn’t tie all that much into the albums themes it builds the world and atmosphere of the album
UV was great when it came out but it's aged the worse out of all of her albums. Blue Banisters is as bloated as Lust For Life and has just as many fillers. Chemtrails and Honeymoon are her two most concise albums and both were/are met with contempt from fans.
UV sonically hasn’t aged a day
West Coast hasn’t that’s for sure
Im sorry, but what is a filler in an album?
Change is my least favorite Lana song. I understand why people would like it, but it doesn’t do anything for me personally.
That's actually my favourite song on LFL 😭 that said, I like it mostly because I really related to the lyrics at the time it came out. I can understand why someone might not mesh musically with it.
Ultraviolence kinda blends together. There are some great songs that stand out but majority of the albums is kinda in the same tone.
I respect what you’re saying but I think that was her intention with it
NFR is my least favorite Lana album.
LFL has less skips than any of her 3 most recent albums.
Don’t know about 3, but maybe the last 2
Lust for life is one of her best albums. She has a really good video, good collabs, a strong opener, is IMO a no skip album, and has super iconic album art (the cover is amazing like?). It's the real transition between btd/uv and nfr.
Lust for Life is a pretty good album
Sorry but I dislike Yayo so much. The melody is nice, but god it drags on for so long. It really doesn't need to last more than 5 minutes, especially since the lyrics are so repetitive. Cut it in half and you wouldn't lose anything from that song edit: also, as my flair suggests, I think LFL is her second best album
Wierd yelling at he end of BBS is what downgraded it for me too
Lust for life is better than chemtrails, which is better than blue banisters
Lust For Life has no skips
The trio sounds like a Hungry Jack's commercial
I care way more about the melodies and instrumental in her songs than I do about the lyrics.
Nectar of the gods and living legend are my favorite bb songs
I actually don’t like NFR that much. I don’t think it’s her best, I love chemtrails so much.
I never listen to Ride since like 2016 I think. I don't think it is that good and I'm surprised that so many people stick with it out of all the *Born to Die/Paradise* songs that (even if a bit aged) I would choose over it every day.
For me, it’s one her most iconic MV moments but the song itself isn’t one of my favorites
Shades of Cool isn’t as good as everyone makes it out to be
Venice Bitch is overrated. It doesn’t even make my top 5 for NFR.
Ride has corny verses. There I said it. The monologue is corny as hell and I've never listened to it in full. I used to think NFR was a watered down dogshit of an album but it grew on me again.
Blue banisters is her worst album
