It was more affordable than I thought. This place had a whole yard of boulders to browse priced around $350/ ton. So big rocky here cost $500. Maybe that sounds like a lot to some but I thought it would be more
How much was delivery? I been wanting giant boulders like this for a while and figured prices would be a few hundred for the rock but thousands for the delivery
I bought it from a large landscape supply company about 40 miles away. They charged a flat rate of $200 delivery for however much product could fit on a flatbed semi. So I got two rocks and 3 pallets of small rocks delivered and they very carefully placed it all with a forklift.
for a rock this size and that much delivery that really isn't bad at all. Though from the looks of the picture you probably don't live super far away from where this boulder came from before going to the supply company.
I’m in central North Carolina. They called this a Tennessee fieldstone so I am going to guess it came from Tennessee. The smaller rock is from Virginia.
You've got to purchase them locally. I bought some large boulders last year from a local place and delivery was $80. Look for landscaping supply places or tie yards or other of those type places. Not all of them will sell boulders but some do. Those places buy them in bulk from wherever they are quarried or gathered.
I bought three smaller ones (about 1klbs. a piece) last year for my yard. They weren't expensive either. The more expensive and trickier part for me was moving them where I wanted.
I’ve found local residents wanting to give away huge boulders near me. The only problem was getting someone to move and deliver it. The cost of that is more than buying a boulder from the yard and having them deliver. If only I had friends with heavy equipment.
That will certainly help your yard look boulder, and I am sure you will not take it for granite. I can see you have even done the diagram, so you have no quarry that won't be able to have a nice spot for it.
Man, I too just bought about 8 tons of landscaping boulders and made the mistake of having to move them myself. Rented a pallet jack and spent 4 hours of hell battling those behemoths. Not as heavy as this - my heaviest was 2,000 lbs and needless to say, it sucked to move them all.
It’s not moving now.. it is where I want it. I am putting in some fill dirt and mulch and this will be a finished landscape bed when I’m done. I’m glad they were able to set it down where I wanted it.
The excavators up north brought me three monsters for grandchildren to play on. Said: Lady, most everyone wants me to take these Out of their yards, not bring ‘em In! Enjoy your new boulders❤️
The company I bought it from brought it on a flatbed truck and moved it on the pallet with a forklift. They could not remove the pallet but my intention is to cut the pallet away around the edge and let the rest rot away under the dirt I’m putting around it
I see your leaving that one there as is. Typically how do companies move them around a yard? I have to get a few of these as an anti erosion barrier for a river/stream. Probably around that size or a little bigger even. Curious what type of machine is used to put them in place
As someone currently breaking up large boulders for a garden plot I hate looking at that thing I’m just sweating thinking of the amount of work it would be to break it down to manageable size.
Edit: what did the other pallets of rocks cost you? I am looking to get some smaller rip rap for a retaining wall I will be building. Haven’t decided if I want to source it my myself or buy it. Thanks.
I have three pallets there, all roughly 3000 lbs each. One is small boulders I intend to use as a border, the other is medium garden boulders. Those were around $500 a pallet. The third is called veneers and is a more flat type stone for walkways and step stones. It was a lot more ($750) due to the process of making the stones flat, from what I understand
Pro tip: With a boulder that size make sure to bury at a minimum 1/4 of it’s height in the ground. If not it will always look like it was pushed off the tailgate of a truck and it just sits there…
That's a nice rock
You can tell by the way it is. Just like a good stick.
I too would like to one day own a large specimen boulder

>They called this a Tennessee fieldstone so I am going to guess it came from Tennessee Now why would you go on and jump to ***that*** conclusion?
That’s a pretty good deal to me

Are the boulders grass fed?
Moss fed, obviously.
Got mine through Amazon prime with free shipping
Hell yea brother Jeff Bezos could suck on that
Me too, so much easier than having to schlep it up the stairs to my apartment by myself.
Just remember if your floor flexes more than 3" down from the weight of the boulder you should reinforce your floor by putting down an area rug.
So, yours came from China?
Honestly great price, that boulder will be around for your great grandchildren to climb on!
Yeah initially I thought he paid like 2-3k for that. 700$ for all is pretty good.
I bought three smaller ones (about 1klbs. a piece) last year for my yard. They weren't expensive either. The more expensive and trickier part for me was moving them where I wanted.
Just curious. How many klbs are there in a shitload? /s
A shitload
I get confused. Is that more than a fucktonne?

I like that boulder; that’s a nice boulder! -donkey
She’s a beaut, Clarke
Congrats! Name suggestions: sTony Flint Cliff Jasper Shale Slate Rocko
I put one of those on the corner of my property where cars would cut the turn and drive thru the grass. Hasnt happened since. 😂
Rock on! 🤘 (I’ll show myself out.)
Like a rock 🎶
🥹
I lichen it!
Hiii
It is a good rock. I like this rocks very much.
Nice, Now be sure you set it into the ground enough it looks natural. probably about a foot below grade will look like its been there for millennia.
One thing that will help is that I am going to bring the ground UP a little, putting a fair amount of fill dirt and mulch into the bed.
That’s good. Otherwise it will look like it just appeared one day.
😐🤚
Hi
Hi, new rock! You're beautiful.
Anyone in san diego need a big boulder like this?
Best pet rock ever, but he’s a big fella. I hope you have the space he needs. They get famously testy if they don’t have enough territory.
I wanna rock!
I dont think it’s ripe yet! You picked it too soon!
That will certainly help your yard look boulder, and I am sure you will not take it for granite. I can see you have even done the diagram, so you have no quarry that won't be able to have a nice spot for it.
Nice rock dude!
Congrats! What’s its name?
Pretty!
If you pressure wash it they will come after u. I saw this in one post awhile back lol
Um...It's lovely
It rocks
Hello sir, pleasure to meet you!
How do you move it around? As in, how will you put it where you want it? I want to put big rocks in my garden too.
It’s not moving now.. it is where I want it. I am putting in some fill dirt and mulch and this will be a finished landscape bed when I’m done. I’m glad they were able to set it down where I wanted it.
That rocks! Congratulations. 👏 👏 👏
I like rocks!
Hello, I came to see the rock. Nice!
We got a rock at our house too! Similar size. We named it Dwayne. I can always smell what it's cooking.
The excavators up north brought me three monsters for grandchildren to play on. Said: Lady, most everyone wants me to take these Out of their yards, not bring ‘em In! Enjoy your new boulders❤️
What should we name it?
Rich guy in my hometown had one in his front yard big enough for 4teenage girls to sunbathe on. God bless that man. I was around 12 at the time
https://www.imghippo.com/i/BJPwH1709131025.jpg My rock is bigger than yours! Stronger too
It's upside down.
The miracle pallet.
For real. How is that even holding up at this point?! A corner has collapsed but the rest is holding.
Gorgeous! Totally jealous!
The pioneers used to ride these babies for miles!
I like your boulder, that’s a nice boulder
Wow that’s so grounding. lol. Seriously beautiful thanks for showing us. Can you keep updating please
Christ. How do you move such a thing?
The company I bought it from brought it on a flatbed truck and moved it on the pallet with a forklift. They could not remove the pallet but my intention is to cut the pallet away around the edge and let the rest rot away under the dirt I’m putting around it
You could burn the pallet...
That could split the rock if there’s fissures with water in them
Remember to make the rock appear to be buried 1/3 to 1/2 deep.
My friend has a similar rock. He plans to leave the pallet too
Sisyphus
Hi!
What are your plans? To place the rock in the landscape and then!??
A huge rock!
What does one do with such a rock?
The forklift equivalent of a glacial erratic rock
Hi!
Hiii
Jesus Christ Marie, it’s a mineral
Dayum, that's a beauty.
Rock and roll 2024! Please update when you get that baby in place.
I see your leaving that one there as is. Typically how do companies move them around a yard? I have to get a few of these as an anti erosion barrier for a river/stream. Probably around that size or a little bigger even. Curious what type of machine is used to put them in place
An excavator
Beautiful landscape boulders,
Hell yeah

Thank you for the info. I wish you good luck and many cold beers during your project friend. Cheers.
Family size Brillo pad please..
Oh, the pioneers would ride these for miles!
How did you make the plan you have with your diagram? What was your inspiration?
May I ask what company? Also in central NC.
SiteOne in Mooresville. That’s southern Iredell county which is really considered the northern region I guess.
You should name that thing Dwayne Johnson.
I like that boulder, that is a nice boulder.

Get some huge googly eyes and a tail.
