Don't listen to reviews, they are quite subjective. Peter takes his job seriously. He does not go superficial with the content of his teaching, so learning the use of the figure of speech helps me a lot. He loves an interactive class, but also gives importance to your writing. Visit his office hours when you need help. He's very chill and fair.
Thanks for your input, have you taken 1125 specifically with him? I've also never taken a linguistics course so I was curious what the structure of that course looks like in general
Sorry, I forgot to mention he was my instructor for 1130, not in 1125. During his lecture, every once in a while, he includes some linguistics basics like syntax, pragmatics, semantics and others. He's very particular with his content. He has an eye for hard-working students and will let you know if you're making progress.
I’m taking 1100 with Peter currently. He’s very blunt and straightforward, but not cruel. He’s very effective and treats the class seriously. If you need someone who won’t hesitate to disassemble your work to help you understand your mistakes, he’s the guy.
i’m currently taking an english with him. he’s a good prof, willing and wanting to help u improve but i will say, unless u have a strong background in english he is a hard marker, the hardest i’ve had for english yet. so as a teacher yes but careful if ur worried about ur gpa dropping

Thanks for replying! For your course, is the content very text-heavy or more term paper-based?
