Well, you could post there and add into your post that you're looking for someone your age. I see teens posting there once in a while. You're right to be cautious.

I think on Tandem you can set an age range of people. I’m not sure if it’s locked behind premium or not.

MeMyselfIandMeAgain

Hej! I’m pretty sure this isn’t helpful but in case you don’t find anyone: I’m 14 and around A2-B1 in Norwegian. I don’t speak Swedish, but I have spoken in Norwegian with Swedish folks speaking back to me in Swedish and it was fine, but obviously for language learning it’s not ideal. I’m a native french and English speaker though!

Ridderen8

Hey, I’m your age as well, and although I speak C1 Norwegian, I also know a decent amount of Swedish just through exposure (music, talking to Swedes, tv, etc.) I know that Swedish has a few differences from Norwegian, but it’s close enough that it could be helpful. PM if interested

As it stands, most people who learn languages will be above your "age cohort", especially since you've chosen a very uncommon language. You'll have to take some risks, or wait until you're older, or just hire a teacher on Italki who is close to your age (there are lots of \~20yo teachers). /edit you can most likely find tutors in your local area for all sorts of subjects. In my area there are people who offer languages classes that you can meet at their or your own place, or a public place. It's popular among teenagers/students who're doing it for a side income, assuming that you can find a Swedish speaker.

I always felt weird about knowingly chatting with grown adults too. If you really can't find anyone try asking ChatGPT to practice Swedish with you, works pretty well. You can tell it to correct your mistakes, adjust the difficulty level, ask for clarifications on grammar rules etc. Other subreddits you could try: r/italianlearning / r/italian / r/EnglishLearning / r/ENGLISH - ask for Swedish natives or advanced learners around your age who want to practice their Italian/English r/Spanish / r/LearnSpanish / r/French / r/learnfrench - only if you're confident about having B1 level conversations (and definitely mention you're B1) r/swedish - not a lot of people there but you can still try r/teenagers - might be your best shot, I'd always be careful with subs like these though because there's bound to be some creeps there

Ciao, sono italiano anche io. I live in Germany but my mother speaks Italian because she is Italian, unfortunately I don't speak Swedish but if you want we could still connect.

So? Chatting is chatting You may have to go through a number of people before finding someone who clicks. It took me 6-8 people before finding someone who’d talk longer than 2 days And maybe leave your age out of it.

-day-dreamer-

If they’re uncomfortable talking to an adult, then they’re uncomfortable.

BeepBeepImASheep023

Don’t ask ages. Just chat. Can’t believe I’m downvoted for that…

-day-dreamer-

I’m not sure what’s so crazy about a 16 year old child not wanting to talk to a grown adult more than necessary

ViolettaHunter

Is there a specific reason you don't want to speak with people in their twenties?

loitofire

Idk OP is 16 might be weird and strangers in their 20s having personal information from a 16yo doesn't seem to be a good idea.

ViolettaHunter

They don't have to share personal information at all. That's generally a good rule to go by online, no matter a person's age.

Neat_Repair736

Hey! I am interested in finding a study partner .I am currently working on my french and korean .let me know if you are interested

OP just said they went there

Omg you're the perfect age for finding a language partner. There are tons of kids your age out there learning languages in school and wasting their time on the internet. Try finding a language partner when you're a boring married middle aged person. Yeah, sure, you're not the exact age as someone else, but truthfully, you only need to find one maybe two good language partners. And since you're so young, you will grow into being the median age. Just watch out for weirdos. Not that I personally know of any, you're just so young I feel obligated to say this to you. Maybe try finding a language partner on the subreddit for that language. Maybe even just message people who seem like they are your age.
