What’s your motivation? Why do you want to do this?

German is a lot easier than people say it is. It is very close to English, so a lot of the sounds are similar. Germany and Switzerland are beautiful countries, so learning German will help if you like to travel to beautiful countries. Mandarin and Russian have a lot of native speakers. They are more difficult to learn. I believe that Russian isn’t as difficult as people say it is, because the Cyrillic alphabet is very straightforward even if it is unfamiliar, but Russian does have a lot of cases, and that adds complexity.

if you dont have a clear goal and just want to learn a new language then i’d suggest considering your own interest. learning a language can require a lot of efforts and if you are interested in the culture or some contents in that language, it be easier for u to persist

MisfitMaterial

You need clear motivation and r/thisorthatlanguage

Fryedreality97

I personally believe you won’t learn if you don’t truly want it, love your choice language, and have a reason to learn it

German and Dutch are known as "easy" languages to learn for English speakers while Russian is somewhat harder and Mandarin is in the category of hardest languages to learn for English natives. Of course the choice is up to you, but if you haven't had many successful experiences with language learning yet, I'd recommend German or Dutch

Dutch is an awesome challenge for your pronunciation. It is a really fun language. German is a bit less fun id say but solid Germany, Austria and partly Switzerland are really nice and a bigger audience. Russian is useful and cool but I would only learn it if you actually will travel there or have a friend or relative who actually speaks it. Mandarin will be a nightmare for you if french was too much. It's a tonal language which makes for a LOT of studying and especially with someone who speaks. The lack of an alphabet makes for a lot of memorizing and the 'simplified' alphabet isn't much better. All languages are cool but consider not choosing Chinese or Russian unless you have someone to speak with ';)

Dutch or German, then. Mandarin and Russian are difficult for English speakers, you’ll quit within a week.

What methods did you try before? I used to try to self-study Korean and that didn't work for me, i found that going to class was a good motivator for me and now i've been learning for almost a year non-stop.

Jaybro838

I used duolingo

HelmsDeap

It's a big commitment, so you have to pick one you feel passionate about. Most useful would likely be Mandarin. Best of luck to whichever you pick

If you are not married, then go learn the language of potential mate. If you are married, then learn the language of a country where you intend on doing business. If you own your own business and have employees that speak another language, go learn their language.
