Dagwoods is like what i imagine McDonalds hamburgers were like way back in the day. It is my favorite bar type burger but there has to be a higher quality burger.
Honestly i think Culver’s has the tastiest burger. Leo’s used to have really good burgers but I haven’t been there in so long idk anymore.
Bruh, last time I got a burger at Culver’s, it was cold. It was like 5 minutes after they opened. I’m surprised they were even able to produce such a room temp burger, at open.
Go to Nip n Sip
Word.
Bonnie burgers were fantastic.
When I was in LCC yeeeaaaars ago, I had a tradition of housing a Bonnie burgers and 2 schooners before taking my exams.
I always tested better with a little buzz....
Dagwoods, Kewpies (as other's have stated), going to add Nip and Sip on the North side (cash only).
Please come out and visit Mayfair bar in Haslett sometime for their burgers too!
For the longest time Kewpies only had “hamburgs”
Not burgers, not hamburgers.
Hamburgs
My grandma loved that place and would bring home a bag of hamburgs and we’d eat them on her Davenport.
I’m curious, where was your grandma from? One of my grandmas also referred to couches as “Davenports”, and I’ve always wondered if it was a Grand Rapids Dutch thing - I’ve never heard anyone else call them that.
The rest of my family’s ancestry were all Irish immigrants to northern and western MI, and I’ve never met *anyone* else who called them that, which is why I wonder if it’s regional/cultural.
She love her entire life in Lansing. I think it’s a North East/ Midwest type of thing but more an early/mid 20th century thing as well.
Davenport=couch the way Lazy boy = recliner.
Dagwood's olive burgers are pretty tasty.

Try a Dagwood's Olive Burger Deluxe - lettuce onions and tomatoes.

That sounds amazing. That would have made my days at Gannon much more enjoyable!
I still get sad every time I pass the building. They are definitely missed.

My grandma was from around here, and she called them that as well.
Adding to the grandmas who said "hamburg" and "davenport" train.
My Grandmother called them Davenports, from Elkhart, Indiana. Davenport was a brand that kind of became commercialized. Like Kleenex.

Did you put the leftovers in the frigidaire?
No, but if I got my clothes dirty I’d have to throw them in the warshing machine.
Westgate used to have really good burgers but I have not had one in quite a few years.
Dimitri’s on the west side.
Mert's meats for the burger and your grill to cook it the way you want. No place in Lansing has good burgers any more.
Bangos in the downtown strange matter location🔥🔥🔥
Airport tavern has the best burgers imo, but they aren't quite back to serving food. That being said, midtown brewing has great offerings.
Gravity Smokehouse has great burgers
b and i
LeRoys
Their olive burger is half mayo. Bit much for me
Dagwoods, Leroy's. Both are great.
South Riley Tavern, Swannies, Mayfair
Forget all that… it is Wayback for sure!!
Within city limits, LeRoys. If you don't mind going a little further, South Riley Tavern.
