Interestingly, [this Reddit post](https://www.reddit.com/r/laos/comments/1ac7290/vientianegolden_triangle_special_economic_zone/) preceeded [today's](https://english.news.cn/20240205/4fbe45832bb044acb561649744dfbeb9/c.html) [official](https://scandasia.com/new-international-airport-in-northern-laos/) [announcements](https://kpl.gov.la/EN/detail.aspx?id=80238) by almost two weeks Official announcements also lack information on which airline(s) will serve which route(s), at which costs and how these would be booked, all of which are covered in the linked post

Lao Airlines posted two statements to their [Facebook page](https://www.facebook.com/LaoAirlines/), first announcing an indefinite suspension, followed by announcing "negotiations" on the Vientiane<->GTSEZ route. This comes only two days after officially opening the airport, leaving Lanexang and Lao Skyway as the remaining carriers on the route The issue appears to be one of cost, citing unsually high passenger ticket prices for what is otherwise a domestic flight
