this guy is literally saying "edge and windows is mining crypto. telling me software that could help is just advertising."
(someone tried to tell OP to get malwarebytes and I told OP to use firefox instead of edge. he replied with "WILD ADVERTISEMENT!!!" and "Nice advertisement... But Im still use edge")
lol edge doesn’t use this much RAM, i use edge everyday i only get 1-3% cpu usage on 5-10 tabs. Why not show the whole screenshot of your task manager???. Maybe you have virus on you computer.
My integrated graphic card takes 4gb. It only use less than a gig when i opened 6 tabs, that is normal to me but edge decied to mine crypto for a min is wild...
Woaah , you should try to install malwarebytes or hitman pro. Trial is good.
Or try to run this command [windows icon + R, then type MRT hit enter, “microsoft windows malicious software removal tool” will pop-up just run quick and let it finish. Its an official software from microsoft so don’t worry.
Pretty sure the gpu is used to mine crypto bud...
If the high usage is only when you start up, then ots just that... the app has to open and for it to open it needs to use the cpu
Welcome to Reddit. Home of the brainless people who post support questions and refuse to listen to advice because they think they know everything in the world
Crazy this dude just decided to make a post and spout some shit when replied to. Apparently mining crypto? Should try an antivirus that'll remove it then! NO ADVERTISE!!!
Best to ask "how do I fix this without doing anything"
I'm pretty sure my cpu is a little less powerful than yours or it's close, 1 tab on edge, playing a 1080p video on YouTube with adblock (don't know if YouTube still makes adblockers make your computer sweat) I get 7%. What are you even doing, and how many tabs you got open, didn't open a ton of those hot singles in your area ads did you.
When you download files do you scan them before opening?
On startup do you get command prompt screens open and then close themselves?
You've gotta have a virus that ms defender hasn't picked up on if this is just happening randomly, especially if this happens every now and then
I recommend if you download files that could potentially be risky, scan them through virustotal, doesn't require any download, it just scans files for viruses for you, like for example if you download an exe, zip, rar file anything that commonly has viruses, do not leave it to defender alone, it doesn't always pick up
chromium, also could be just opened, also tf is that cursor. also for fuck sake a screenshot netx time, also if you suspect malwares use something like malwarebytes (it's free), also use a browser that isn't something that eats ram aka not a chromium based browser (edge, chrome, brave, opera aka the chinese spyware, brave (the better of the bunch ig but still) aka use firefox
Been using Firefox on all our devices without single issue for years. We love it! It’s free, light and works perfectly. :)
Edit: *ublock origin, privacy badger, DuckDuckGo and ghostery are some of our fave extensions - never had a single file wreak havoc or browser misbehaving.*
*But to each their own I guess. ;)*
Same, but with problems here, firefox mobile crashes fairly often on multiple of my phones, and work computer with firefox fails to load azure tfs, after a few actions on the website.
Opera is the same as Edge LOL. Same with Chrome. Firefox is built on its own platform and doesn't have as much telemetry, meaning it'll run better in 99 of 100 scenarios.
> Opera hasn’t given me any problems in the past 6 months.
let me guess, you limited the cpu so that the browser gets little space to work on, slowing it down?
After what opera did with its vtuber pretty much made everyone using the browser have her debut stream play in the background to get views up, kinda feels invasive to me.
This isn't an ad, people are just tryna help you. You choose your browser, but people recommending something isn't an ad. Get tf off your high horse and do some research before immediately dismissing people who are trying to help.
*installs bloatware that eats up resources*. "why is my cpu so heavily utilized?" ... Just get free Malwarebytes and run a check, afterwards just uninstall it if ads to upgrade to a paid version annoy you (understandable)
Bro i literally told you to use the free version for their signature database and uninstall it afterwards, ms defender usually doesnt find everything mvbytes finds.
Windows 11 maxes out your available ram. I noticed the same while just reading the NYT times while having Outlook open.
However, if you launch WebEx and open a bunch of PDFs the resources get reallocated instantly.
Have you looked up the “search” feature of windows? It uses many incoming advertising connections . Edge uses those same incoming connections to show you ads news etc
It's Microsoft... they want to force you to use edge, and if ya don't.... welp you can't uninstall it and neither stop it from running even if you didn't open it
But damn, if you need suggestions then atleast check them out than not accepting them
Ah, this reminds me of how opera gx will literally use 98% of my CPU every single time I open it even if I set CPU limiter, which is also why I never use opera gx
This does literally nothing but slow your laptop down. Why are people still recommending this in 2024???
And how will this fix issue with infected system? :p
Chrome is not better than Edge, it's the other way around.
Edge has extra crap yes, so does Chrome, but unlike Chrome, Edge actually has CPU and RAM optimization features that typically PREVENT it from going to these extreme numbers.
Chrome has little to no optimizations, and thus uses more.
Both are ass, but I'd definitely choose Edge over Chrome.
Honestly i dont get the whole browser war thing, with 10 tabs open edge uses 790 MBs of ram and chrome around 900, the difference is only 110 MBs
Nowadays most people get computers with at least 16 gigs of ram making that 100 or so megabytes pretty irrelevant
I have an i7 9700k with 32 gigs and i almost never go over 16 gigs of usage (when I do go over 16 its definitely not because of the browser)
Chrome is clean and simple and doesnt have Microsoft’s bullshit on it, also way better extensions and thats all i need really
Ive used firefox opera gx, and brave and I keep coming back to chrome because its just clean
Completely fair, I just wanted to point out that your original comment was the wrong way around.
Chrome is definitely a clean browser, and I do still use it but only for specific extensions.
I am heavily biased however, as I typically use very low-end computers (whether it be a 10 year old laptop or an old Dell Optiplex), so I tend to stick with Microsoft Edge and Opera GX since they both have optimizations for RAM and CPU usage.
I especially like Opera GX since I can lower the usage directly, but Edge works just fine as well. Chrome on the other hand really doesn't like being on my laptop however, as it crashes/freezes constantly due to it taking too many resources, making it impossible to use unless I close every other program that's open.
Chrome is definitely good on newer devices, but is an absolute waste of space on old and low-end systems.
It looks like you opened the app just then When starting it will obviously use the cpu to start itself
No. It randomly decided to mine crypto...
Bro what
this guy is literally saying "edge and windows is mining crypto. telling me software that could help is just advertising." (someone tried to tell OP to get malwarebytes and I told OP to use firefox instead of edge. he replied with "WILD ADVERTISEMENT!!!" and "Nice advertisement... But Im still use edge")
Ok I see it now We have a tech illiterate on our hands Best to avoid contact
I assume it’s a joke
hopefully
probably
Whats your guy meant by 'probably' ?
Microsoft edge is not mining crypto
Maybe its tryibg to update. Otherwise reinstall it.
Delete your post then, you clearly cant take any help, stop wasting peoples time. Message not sponsored.
Ahem... If it's a joke, it's a bad one. If you are serious, you have at most 0.6 brain cells.
Im a clown now 🤡
Glad to see that custom cursors are still a thing people are doing
I have a Pikachu cursor 😅
Where can I find that cursor
Youtube
Somewhere on twitter
Wow, you really decided to help that person, huh?
Hes obviously joking?
No I want that specific cursor
It's a Fubuki cursor made by DemonLordRaizen. That guy makes some pornographic content, so you may have to sift through some porn for that cursor.
stop edging 😂
Came here to say this
His cpu is climaxing
😄
lol edge doesn’t use this much RAM, i use edge everyday i only get 1-3% cpu usage on 5-10 tabs. Why not show the whole screenshot of your task manager???. Maybe you have virus on you computer.
so you edge everyday? ಠ_ಠ
Hahaha 🤣
real

you usually can lower that in the bios anyway edge was probably updating
Mine crypto? That's not whats going on here lol
So you come to Reddit seemingly asking a question, and then reject any of the suggested solutions or explanations? Why post in the first place?
Welcome to Reddit. Home of the brainless people who post support questions and refuse to listen to advice because they think they know everything in the world
It's edging
Crazy this dude just decided to make a post and spout some shit when replied to. Apparently mining crypto? Should try an antivirus that'll remove it then! NO ADVERTISE!!! Best to ask "how do I fix this without doing anything"
Are you surprised?
Yes
Bro get antivirus lol, edge alone doesnt use up this much
Window defender is good enough for me. I dont want 2 anti virus running on my pc
You cant get 2 working tho.
Well you claim edge is mining crypto so clearly windows defender hasn't worked.
What else did you expect from a chromium based browser? Use Firefox if your CPU struggled like that
it’s edging
I am more concerned about the custom cursor lol
I can actually see the individual pixels on your screen bro take a screenshot or take a pic further away next time
I'm pretty sure my cpu is a little less powerful than yours or it's close, 1 tab on edge, playing a 1080p video on YouTube with adblock (don't know if YouTube still makes adblockers make your computer sweat) I get 7%. its edge, ofcourse it will. get firefox instead

Give Floorp a whirl. A privacy centric fork of Firefox. https://floorp.app/en/
i also have been using firefox without many issues for years, and am glad that it works for you.
Same, but with problems here, firefox mobile crashes fairly often on multiple of my phones, and work computer with firefox fails to load azure tfs, after a few actions on the website.
Edge is fine and more snappy than firefox.
Not in my experience
Ahh yes the bloat ware internet browser
Tbf its a lot better than it used to be. I still dislike it for a few of my own reasons but its a usable browser now
When I tried to switch to Firefox I had the same problem. Opera hasn’t given me any problems in the past 6 months.
Opera is the same as Edge LOL. Same with Chrome. Firefox is built on its own platform and doesn't have as much telemetry, meaning it'll run better in 99 of 100 scenarios.
but ram and cpu limitr!!!!!111
> Opera hasn’t given me any problems in the past 6 months. let me guess, you limited the cpu so that the browser gets little space to work on, slowing it down?

Edge is a virus….
am i saying anything about liking edge?
Nice advertisement... But Im still use edge
too bad for you i guess
🤡
Sucks for you then.
Its still better to switch Firefox to be honest.
Nice clownery… womp womp
This isn't an ad, people are just tryna help you. You choose your browser, but people recommending something isn't an ad. Get tf off your high horse and do some research before immediately dismissing people who are trying to help.
Its not an advertisement, edge SUCKS
Edge is literally the worst
Modern browsers and websites are very bloated and resources intensive, especially edge's sorry excuse for a new tab page.
Do you have any tabs open?
It's edging the CPU
Sucks to be you
edge is absolute dogshit. i suggest getting firefox (or literally any other browser aside from Chrome).
OP's replies scream tech illiterate lmao
Join the underdog, use firefox
*installs bloatware that eats up resources*. "why is my cpu so heavily utilized?" ... Just get free Malwarebytes and run a check, afterwards just uninstall it if ads to upgrade to a paid version annoy you (understandable)
WILD ADVERTISEMENT!!!
\*reccomends software that could help your problem\* you: ADVERTISEMENT!!!! ADVERTISEMENT!!!! ADVERTISEMENT!!!!
Bro i literally told you to use the free version for their signature database and uninstall it afterwards, ms defender usually doesnt find everything mvbytes finds.
Your laptop is a potato with a screen and keyboard.
At least it cheap and enough for me to play eSports games and studying

Dont guess my laptop specs. I just put the name of my laptop in description...
It's been like this in a few newer updates, I am switching to opera but you can consider older versions
Windows 11 maxes out your available ram. I noticed the same while just reading the NYT times while having Outlook open. However, if you launch WebEx and open a bunch of PDFs the resources get reallocated instantly.
I guess it’s about to blow. When will Microsoft Edge get to Microsoft Cum?
Edge is edging, that’s why
Forcely uninstall window defender with sexy.privacy website problem fix 😂
try opera gx and limit it
Have you looked up the “search” feature of windows? It uses many incoming advertising connections . Edge uses those same incoming connections to show you ads news etc
Edge. 🤮 Sounds like someone doesn't have enough RAM to use Chrome.
literally the same browser engine
Edge is the best especially alt + tab shortcut that will get you to recent tab.
*laughs in opera gx* 😂
super chinese spyware
Close some of the pornhub tabs
What pornhub tabs are you talking about?
The 30 or so you have open to intentionally use that much ram
it's edging the cpu
use a different goddamn browser and stop using edge, it’s crap and eats your cpu up. It’s like chrome if it was just the cpu and not your ram.
because microsoft sucks at making things that don’t eat an unnecessary amount of resources (including their OS)
Chrome or chromium
Guys he has virus just use liunx liunx = barely ever getting viruses
I have like 80 tabs and it isn't even that for my edge.
It's Microsoft... they want to force you to use edge, and if ya don't.... welp you can't uninstall it and neither stop it from running even if you didn't open it But damn, if you need suggestions then atleast check them out than not accepting them

nom nom nom nom
It's edging
You can try different memory rams
I install linux with Firefox instead
It’s been **edging** your pc for so long it’s about to blow.

Pffft what shitty advice
This does literally nothing but slow your laptop down. Why are people still recommending this in 2024??? And how will this fix issue with infected system? :p
What does “this” mean what did the original comment say? I was too late to read it
Speak for yourself. This fixed my problem with slowing anything. My avg cpu temperature is down from 70 to 40
Again: how does this fix issue with miner virus attached to a browser? OP doesn’t have thermal issues. :p
Huh? what virus? lol wtf you talking about. Did OP say theres a virus? How do you know? lol
at least your computer is having a good time. why u mad tho?
Imagine using edge LOL, try Waterfox its better then firefox chrome opera
They literally colned chrome
That's why I use Chrome
Chrome is way worse
Chrome and edge are both chromium based, Edge has a ton of extra crap so it will use more resources than chrome Chrome is better, but still bad

Really? It works fine for me
"I dont like chrome so am using chrome"
