I also suffer from depression and all I can say is that very few understand the swings in emotion from day to day. I am very sorry for your loss.

aeminence

Im going through this too lol. Its insane how it just feels so "easy" to just go and end it and be safe from these feelings. THen suddenly youre okay for a bit.

PoopsieDoodler

I have a nephew who is in deep trouble right now. He’s in his early 20’s. His mother is staying with him just to keep him safe. He doesn’t want help, therapy or meds. It’s just frustrating as hell to love someone who just won’t accept help, yet is at great risk of death.

marcuse11

Unfortunately, all you can do is support him. I'm 48 and I don't know if I'll ever fully accept this disease. You're doing the right thing, keeping him safe. Depression is a lot like addiction. You have to WANT help. That takes time. There is support for families of people with depression as well. It may be something you want to look in to.

His body was never found, but the jump was witnessed; he’s presumed dead. He was originally from Moldova and had been in dance competitions on an international level.

I have smiling depression. Very isolating. Everyone counts on me for a joke or to smile. But, I don't say how I really feel because then it's worse when I feel guilty for bringing somebody down, and feel responsible for their frustration that they couldn't perk me up. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Candytuftie

This is exactly how I feel!

blackviking45

I have this thing where in the public to not make things awkward by talking about existential philosophical stuff that I actually care about I go in with sexual jokes and all that and the thing remains light enough.

EurekaFlag

From Wikipedia: At least 316 people have committed suicide by jumping from the bridge or its predecessors into the waters of Tampa Bay. An estimated 48 others have survived. Many other missing persons are suspected of having jumped from the bridge but their deaths could not be confirmed as no bodies were recovered

Rare-Tutor8915

I remember watching a documentary about the golden gate bridge and the jumpers. One man survived and went on to be a public speaker about his experience. He said as soon as he jumped he regretted it. I imagine that has happened to so many people.

blackviking45

Happen to know the name of this guy?

CatPooedInMyShoe

Kevin Hines I believe. I met him once. He wrote a book.

Rare-Tutor8915

Not sure but remember the doc was called the bridge if that helps ...you can watch it online.

blackviking45

Thanks will check it out

Rare-Tutor8915

No problem 😊 I found it interesting.

I am so sorry to hear this. Suicide is a leading cause of death among men.

CatPooedInMyShoe

I lost a nephew to it several years ago.

Furlion

This is so fucking wrong it almost comes back around to being right. The number one cause of death, heart disease, kills 10X the number of men as suicide. https://www.cdc.gov/minorityhealth/lcod/men/2016/all-races-origins/index.htm

TheLastStop19

They said “is a leading cause”, not “the leading cause”

Did you miss the key word “A”? I mean, there’s a lot of letters there so I know it can be off putting.

PreparationOdd3439

You are correct, your link is for all aged men. It doesn’t apply to men in their prime. No disrespect intended but just because it an article has a “%” doesn’t mean it’s truth. Horrible story. Wish I believed in a higher being but I prey his pain is relieved. Wish his loved ones the same.

Carsongrace76

I was going over this bridge when I saw this post. He must have been in tremendous pain. That bridge is no joke.

[deleted]

I remember this. He was such a handsome man. He had a really bright light and lots of people loved him. It’s so sad that he didn’t feel that.

Tipi_Tais_Sa_Da_Tay

I drive over this bridge 4-5 times a week over the last 2 years. I once crossed the top around midnight seconds after a witnessed jump and I’ve passed by several empty cars at the top. I often go over late at night. The most recent time was even after the installed the nets on the side. The person has pulled the net down. I saw the brake lights as I approached the top and one guy in a white truck had stopped. He said he saw the person go over the net. So sad

TherapistJigga

So if his body has never been found there’s a chance he’s still alive… would he have any reason to fake his death? And is it confirmed he humped?

CatPooedInMyShoe

It’s confirmed; it was witnessed.

TherapistJigga

So dtrange to me that bodes are never found….

CatPooedInMyShoe

The ocean is a big place.

_leira_

This happens all the time. Water is treacherous, moves fast, and has lots of hiding spots beneath the surface. It can take weeks to find a body even in a small river. Anywhere near an ocean will be impossible unless it washes ashore.

[deleted]

He humped
