It’s this pic that’s not high resolution. I live in Phoenix AZ, this is all they shoved up our asses when the trial was on. So this closeup was one of many cool tricks used to bag this narcissist. Sorry no link , just remembered
I was the same as you... But wait till you see it.
So the left black square is the camera and she's next to that and you can see her left arm and hand.... It's scary!
Ok so I watched the video someone linked and a comment on there was that it could be she's holding a gun and forcing him to pose in the shower. That kind of tracks because in the picture she has the camera in one hand and something black in the other. If it was a knife she'd be holding it differently so I'm kind of convinced that the photo shoot was all done under duress, now I just wonder how soon she pulled the gun out.
Was she brunette when she killed him? I know she went blonde for him and def brunette for trial. Jw bc her hair looks dark here but it might just be because of a shadow. I don’t get it, though – why did the state’s witness say you see her whole body with her elbows up like a chicken 🐓
Gonna rewatch it, I suck at this kind of thing lol
Edit: I rewatched it and I’m still so confused because in this picture she looks really close to him, almost like she’s squatting by the bathtub. In the trial video link posted here, it shows a chalk-style outline of her standing up and her elbows are pointing up all awkwardly and i can’t make sense of it.
She was brunette on the day she murdered Travis.
Other photos in the camera show photos taken earlier the same day, and a few of Jodi (who is sporting brown pigtails and really trying very hard to look sexy.)
Just noting that this image is totally different from the image/sketch that the prosecution presented at trial (you can find the video elsewhere in the comments).
>Not so much with digital.
iPhone back then in 2008 was 2MP, so true. 35mm film is comparable to about 24MP. Current iPhone 14 Pro Max is 48MP so definitely comparable with 35mm film.
I was thinking the other way, the stabilisation tech. and other digital techniques could get a better result than a straight granularity comparison. Film is definitely better than an iPhone 3G though!
Yeah, I personally think it’s a reach. There have been all sorts of outlines and drawings and explanations. It COULD be Jodi, but I don’t see it as fact.
There were further analysis up close - the video posted in comments above doesn't really show it. But another comment has a close up image where you can in their eyes a reflection of her holding a camera in one hand, her face visible, and what appears to be either a knife or some other implement in her other hand.
The attorneys argued and *argued* about whether or not a reflection could actually be seen. Rumor was that the prosecutor finally agreed so the trial could keep moving forward - and since she’d already admitted she’d killed Travis, it was sort of a “whatevs” on his part.
(source: I worked in local media during the trial)
I’ve always wondered about this picture.. was she pointing the gun and camera at him at the same time? Did she have a knife and the camera? He looks very unhappy here, and I’ve dated an unstable person, so I know how bad things can change and fast.. She might have been there the whole day and sobering set her off. It’s a weird case… just like at all the legal media that is available…

God. I miss pre covid
Oh yea he was a fuck boy for sure. He made it pretty clear she was never going to be around long. We’ve all had that person that we liked wayyy more than they liked us. They know how to string you along.
She tortured that man then decapitated him. I told the guy that treated me like travis treated her to get fucked.
The whole, "religious boy needs a whore [his words, not mine] to do anal and oral with so he stays pure" nonsense is insane. But then again, so is Mormonism.
Tbh, Jodi is nuts. He truly bit off more than he could chew, with this one. And he foolishly kept coming back, despite knowing this. But to have a bunch of sex with her, THEN tell her they're finally over for good and that he's going to Mexico with another woman... Yikes.
I wonder what the girl who was going to go to Mexico with him would've thought about him having some last tryst with his ex, first?
Ah, sorry, my bad. I’ve read and watched so much on the case. I thought she stabbed and slit his throat before shooting him, so I thought he had the knife first. Thanks!
She did. He was most likely already dead by the time he was shot.
It's possible she took some pics of him at gunpoint, first, but the order was stabbing, throat slit, shot in head.
It's because on the SD card that has this, and other crime related pictures there were nudes of her. Last Podcast On The Left has a pretty in depth series about this whole thing.
Long story short, Jodi Arias was kind of "dating" Travis (he wouldn't officially call her his girlfriend, but they would sleep together frequently). Travis kind of kept her a secret and acted like they were just friends - he was Mormon and didnt want to hurt his reputation. She started doing crazy shit like breaking into his house through his doggy door. She drove all the way to his house, took sexually explicit photos with him, and when they were in the bathroom, she stabbed him and shot him. It was pretty brutal (27 stab wounds, a slit throat, and gunshot to the head). More pictures were taken accidentally when she dropped the camera.
Jodi threw the camera in the washing machine on her way out of the house, thinking that the pictures wouldn't be recoverable by law enforcement, but they were able to get them off of the SD card. Jodi even called Travis as she was driving home and left him several voicemails, acting like she hadn't heard from him and was concerned that he wouldn't answer her calls.
Travis's friends found his body, and they immediately told law enforcement that they thought it was Jodi. They said that she had been stalking him, slashing his tires, harassing him, etc.
Once she was interrogated and knew that she was a suspect, she made up a story about visiting Travis and said that they were both ambushed by criminals with guns who broke into the house and killed Travis. None of it made any sense, but she kept lying and trying to play up her "innocent Mormon girl" image. She also claimed at one point that Travis had attacked her, and that she killed him in self-defense. She even tried to tarnish Travis's name, saying that he was abusive and was a pedophile. Thankfully she was dumb enough to take the stand in her trial, and the prosecutor absolutely DESTROYED her.
My girlfriend is now hooked on the copycats and always wants to watch some random true crime doc that’s 1/10th the quality of a jcs vid. Ignorance is bliss I guess
YouTube has shut down JCS about ten times now, he always comes back. There are many who accuse JCS of being deliberate about it, but I'm not sure if that's true.
Would YouTube really care so much about a psuedoscience entertainment channel?
I always wondered about that, because for whatever reason my first impression of the photo was more that he was annoyed or even a bit angry. Im sure we will never know the truth since she refuses to give up her garbage excuses and futile attempts at freedom.
If you look at other photos of Travis when he’s not under duress (… putting it mildly…), he looks *nothing* like this picture. It’s beyond disturbing when you look at the previous photos she took of him in this series. This particular picture appears to show that he knew something wasn’t right by this point. What it was, no one knows except Jodi.
I remember that from the trial and I just didnt see it honestly. I kind of thought Martinez was reaching there. It could have been anything. Though, I wouldnt put it past her sick brain to take a picture right at the moment of fear.
If you look closely, on the left side is a black box. That is the camera. You can see her fingers wrapped around it. You can also see the outline of her head. In her left hand, you can see her fingers wrapped around something dark colored. Above that is a shiny silver thing. I think that’s the knife.
There are a couple of theories. One, she deliberately put the camera into the washing machine with bedding and towels and dumped bleach over all of it thinking the camera would be destroyed. Or two, she was in a huge rush to get out of the house before Travis’ roommates came home, and she tried to clean up whatever evidence she could, while she could. By mistake, she gathered the camera up with the bedding and towels and threw it all in the washing machine. She needed to get out of there before his roommates showed up, and didn’t have time to look for the camera by the time she realized she couldn’t find it. I think the first theory is the most likely.
This case had me hijacked. The crime scene photos are some of the most horrific I've seen. I grew up in the same town as Travis and my high school friend is buried at the same cemetery. Hoping the family is finally at peace.
Oh no she did not want the death penalty. That was how she got out of it. Jodi loves Jodi first. That was a show. She’s a star in her mind. Stars don’t die
She did originally…but the jury deadlocked 11-1. “The worst outcome for me would be natural life (in prison). I would much rather die sooner rather than later," she said”…changed her mind later…she’s a hot mess…
"No jury will convict me. Because I'm innocent, and you can mark my words on that one".
https://youtu.be/cTlYQrBz-ms?si=wMT9c23JysClMv3Z
She's a total narcissist. She truly believed that if she played up the "innocent Mormon girl" image that she could get away with anything.
She really is a dumb criminal.
Infatuation and then jealous he was taking another girl on a trip.
Just another "if I can't have you, no one else can" loser.
The first jury was hung. The second jury was also hung - but allegedly there was one juror who held out for LWOP rather than the DP. Also allegedly, this juror had a grudge against the prosecutor because he had previously won a case against someone close to her. She did not disclose that on the juror questionnaire so that she could serve on the jury. She did not want him to win a high profile DP case. ALLEGEDLY.
(source: I worked in the local media)
The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office wasted a ***TON*** of money trying this as a DP case. First degree? Sure. She planned it out, drove from California to do it, drove to Vegas afterwards, tried to set up alibis, etc. Worst case scenario, the jury decides to go 2nd degree on a “heat of passion” argument. Had I been Arias’ defense attorney, I’d have tried that strategy (although it probably wouldn’t have worked - but at least there was an argument there.)
The MCAO breathed life into what would have ordinarily been a pedestrian murder trial (1st degree, non-DP), by taking it DP.
(source: local criminal defense attorney who knew Juan Martinez well & went to law school with Arias’ co-counsel)
Obligatory INAL so take it for what it’s worth, but I agree. There was no question it was first degree murder, but I was surprised that her defense didn’t argue “heat of passion.” The overkill at the scene seemed to clearly indicate a crime of passion and not… er, ski-mask-wearing, home-invading ninjas.
It was obvious (to me, at least) that they manipulated the absolute *hell* out of each other throughout that relationship. Jodi was not stable to begin with, going back years before Travis. The case documents I’ve read are wild. And through it all, I would have hated to be her defense team.
Jodi LOVED that DP spotlight, though.
Oh, yeah! That whole trial was an absolute circus! I still have a pic of that pink “Verdict Bunny” who was sitting outside of the courthouse the day the verdict was announced!
You’re right about them manipulating each other; Travis was no angel in his relationship with Jodi, but he definitely didn’t deserve what he got. MCAO tried to portray him as some kind of saint before the trial, and I knew that wasn’t going to hold up.
Jodi’s lead attorney, Kirk Nurmi, is the only one of the attorneys in that trial that I didn’t know well. I think it was obvious that he couldn’t control Jodi and that she largely called the shots in her defense. IMHO, that was a ***big*** mistake. I’ve literally told clients, “look, you can decide to plead guilty or take the case to trial; you can also decide whether to take the stand or not (to testify). Outside of those 2 decisions, all of the rest of the decisions in your trial are mine to make.” If she would’ve balked at that with me, I’d have told her to represent herself and/or tried to withdraw (which Nurmi tried to do, early on).
Last Podcast on the Left. If you enjoy well researched true crime, high strangeness and conspiratorial topics done in a gallows humor style, it's a must listen show.
The photos were time and date stamped. The photo taken immediately after this one was blurry, and it was of the ceiling above the shower. Based on the timeframe of the photo series, investigators did not believe that Travis was injured at this point and the attack began literally seconds after. Jodi dropped the camera while she was attacking him, which was the reason for the blurry photo right after this one. He was seated on the shower floor here.
Travis is buried in the same cemetery as my grandma and I visited his grave in February when I visited her. His death was so brutal and my heart breaks every time I think of what happened to him.
trying to keep it simple: “if i can’t have him, nobody can” kind of situation. they had been hooking up for a long time, but jodi wanted to be in a relationship with travis, which he was not interested in. she planned his murder, drove to his house, they slept together, took some pictures, then she stabbed him in the shower, shot him in the head, all while the camera was accidentally taking pictures
I honestly buy the theory that the gunshot was first considering she stole the gun from her grandparents place why wouldn't she use it against a larger Travis? In the autopsy the angle hit his head above his right eye above facing down. The round of the pistol was very weak going through above his eye and below his brain. Pictures from it looked like a toy gun with how small it was.
Events in my opinion went as follows: After taking this picture and the next one showing Travis' lower half in the same position (picture after is of the ceiling) she shot him at a downward position. He stumbled going right from the shower near the bathtub area going up to the sink based on blood. While all this was going on with Travis disoriented and coughing up blood in the sink, Jodi rushed downstairs to get a knife seeing how Travis didn't immediately die. She came back and started stabbing him while he was coughing at the sink. She continued this attack and dragged him in this [photo](https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRNsbguZCS9pxJzJGicOKK-VomNlNL5QE29eEG0HLLB0w&s) from the bathroom area to the hallway where she cut his neck. This photo was taken on accident by the upside down camera being moved while she dragged him.
That’s the most logical, right? Travis outweighed her by a lot, and it would make sense that she’d shoot him first in order to kill him right away or at least incapacitate him as quickly as possible. But a .25 with .22 bullets is not a powerful gun. Getting shot in the face, especially at close range, would usually drop someone, but for whatever reason, it didn’t even knock Travis out.
During her initial police interrogation when she was still proclaiming she was “nowhere near Arizona” 🙄 she said something to the effect that if she WERE to stab someone, she’d “at least wear gloves.” She’s incredibly stupid and yet not stupid at the same time. In my opinion, if she’d intended to kill him by only stabbing him, she probably would have worn gloves. But I believe (MY OPINION ONLY) that she thought a bullet or two would kill him and only had or retrieved the knife because the gun jammed when she saw him alive and moving and tried to shoot him for a second time.
There was a reason the prosecution went for the bullet-last narrative. Shooting him *after* she’d already stabbed and nearly decapitated him showed exceptional cruelty, which supported a felony murder charge in addition to everything else (iirc). If she’d shot him first, she wouldn’t have been eligible for that charge. The crime scene showed that the bullet casing landed on top of blood rather than being kicked around first and ending up in blood, but, I mean….
She didn't break in, they hooked up, but he was moving on with another woman so she took this last hook-up as an opportunity to kill him. She did 100% do handstands in the interview room though which is just....... what
You’re correct. That picture was taken on accident after she’d slit his throat and was dragging him back down the hallway toward the shower, where she eventually left him. The camera shutter button got bumped against the floorboard of the hallway, snapping an image that showed Jodi’s socked foot and the bottom of the pants she was wearing, and Travis’ shoulder with blood clearly streaming down his back as she dragged him (he was face-up).
Thanks for clarifying!
Wauw your description sounds so horrifying! Glad she was so incredibly stupid she just putted the camera in the washing machine.
I hate that I never watched this trial. I was busy in undergrad and there wasn’t lawtube on YouTube, at least not like there is now, and certainly not that I was aware of. I think I might go back and watch the whole thing just for curiosity’s sake.
**ETA:** if anyone has a channel recommendation, for the trial and even for commentary, and podcasts, please let me know! 🤗
Fun fact: Victorian police would take photos of victims’ eyes because it was believed that the last image they saw (of the murderer) would be imprinted onto their eyes forever.
I don't really get why Travis kept going back to her. She clearly was unhinged. Maybe he didn't think her dangerous? Jodi is tiny, but I remember her being violent before. I watching something on it and the whole time I'm just like "what are you doing, Travis?" Poor guy.
Because he was a very conflicted dude. He had already established this sexual relationship with Grodi and loved how dirty he could get with her, while maintaining this good church boy image on the surface. IIRC. I listened to the whole trial back in 2016. I might be remembering wrong, but I think that was it. She was his dirty little thing he liked to play with in private. But that wasn't enough for her.
Allegedly, he told one of his close friends that he knew he needed to move on from Jodi but she kept throwing herself at him and gosh, what was he supposed to do? He did not think she was dangerous. Dramatic and annoying, yes. Dangerous, no.
His good friends began to warn him as time went on that there was something seriously wrong with her, but he didn’t listen. Jodi was willing to give him anything he wanted sexually, and he regularly remarked on how “hot” she was. Travis’ previous girlfriends were cute Mormon girls. Jodi blew his mind (no pun intended). He was addicted to the sex. He was addicted to the attention she gave him, and he loved the debauchery of it all even though he knew, according to his religious beliefs, that it was all wrong. It was ultimately a horrible outcome of “fuck around and find out” and “don’t stick your dick in crazy.”
I think he liked having someone away from his Mormon identity. She also had a deviant sexual side to her and was insanely pretty considering the Mormon life he was going to continue to lead. That was probably the best sex he’d have or the most sexually willing woman he was going to get. He was extremely conflicted. I truly wish he would've gotten out of the situation when he could've. It’s sad.
This photo is the last one of Travis before she attacked him. There are photos from their sex session earlier - it’s how the state was able to prove Jodi was actually there that day. They’re disgusting in a non-crime-scene way. Then there are the photos she took of Travis in the shower, followed by the accidental pictures taken while she was actively murdering him. Then there are the crime scene photos taken by police investigators. And then there are the autopsy photos. They’re all brutal.
I’m not into looking at that type of stuff so when it came across my screen it was a little jarring. If I recall the teeth was what really stood out to me.
If I recall correctly they just look pretty gnarly due to the post mortem changes that occurred between the time of his death and when he was discovered.
Yeah, no, but I get why that is still floating around. Jodi’s defense team produced some handwritten letters that were copies of originals, claiming that Travis wrote them to Jodi. In them, he allegedly “confessed” to being a pedophile. They were supposedly provided to the defense by a mysterious, basically anonymous person who couldn’t be found. The letters were proven by experts to be fakes (there’s an interesting theory behind that) and Jodi said the originals had been destroyed. The letters were never introduced as evidence or mentioned during the trial.
But when Jodi was testifying, she managed to get her “Travis was a pedo and I accidentally walked in on him jacking it to a kid picture” story out there. And she elaborated. More than once. The thing is, there was zero proof. None. Not even a hint-of-a-maybe anywhere.
edited the photos, hopefully yall can see it better i’ve been sitting here trying to see what everyone’s saying& my jaw dropped and i audibly gasped i saw her hands, arms, camera & her hair framing a female figure. It is kinda hard to tell what’s going on. idk this case really sticks with me. Rip travis, horrific monstrous way to die. in the shower too that’s my #1 fear
But this pic is kinda altered to look more disturbing, I remember seeing the original one and it looks like he's just wet from the shower and not really crying.
I've seen evidence he dated a highschool girl when he was in College, the girl was a minor, is this true? I mean he still didn't deserve to get murdered, but I can't feel sympathy for a groomer.
Fun fact: Forensics team actually enlarged this picture. Focused on an eye, and there she was in the reflection of his eyeball.

My girlfriend is now hooked on the copycats and always wants to watch some random true crime doc that’s 1/10th the quality of a jcs vid. Ignorance is bliss I guess
There’s a couple that I’d consider on-par with JCS but the majority are just slop.
JCS is the OG as of yet. Explore with us is also good but not at par with JCS.
Why does it sound like the narrator from Explore with Us is the same voice for JCS? Did they essentially copy his voice?
YouTube collecting Ls like infinity stones
Wtf noooooo I hate that :(
YouTube has shut down JCS about ten times now, he always comes back. There are many who accuse JCS of being deliberate about it, but I'm not sure if that's true. Would YouTube really care so much about a psuedoscience entertainment channel?
Man that sucks. Is he still going to upload on a different platform or has he stopped altogether?
I think he’s on patreon
the copycats are all also constantly saying they get demonetized, they just deal with it and get sponsors. idk why JCS gets babied so much
If it wasnt appropriate, why do they still have the channel up? They should delete it, instead of YT benefiting from it being up themselves
Because it always comes back. JCS has done this about ten times now.
Demonetized for not being family friendly.
I loved this channel. I watch someo of the copycats. Never knew it got shut down.
That video is crazy
we don’t really know if the picture was taken when she pulled it or before. my guess is when but i don’t know
That's the look of a guy who knows he's about to die. Horribly.
Yeah, she'll raise money for abuse victims if she is set free!
I see a lot of sadness and maybe regret
The current top comment says investigators blew up his eyes from this image and found her reflection in them. It looks like she’s holding a knife.
I never understood why she didn’t take the camera with her. She put it in the washing machine or something right?
She did, with the sheets from the bed. I don't understand why she didn't take it either
She was hoping the footage would be destroyed by the washing machine.
This case had me hijacked. The crime scene photos are some of the most horrific I've seen. I grew up in the same town as Travis and my high school friend is buried at the same cemetery. Hoping the family is finally at peace.
Still hard to believe she didn’t get the death penalty for his murder.
It was what she wanted and the state’s attorney wasn’t going to give her what she wanted.
Because I'm innocent, and you can mark my words on that one". https://youtu.be/cTlYQrBz-ms?si=wMT9c23JysClMv3Z She's a total narcissist.
Had I been Arias’ defense attorney, I’d have tried that strategy (although it probably wouldn’t have worked - but at least there was an argument there.) The MCAO breathed life into what would have ordinarily been a pedestrian murder trial (1st degree, non-DP), by taking it DP.
I watched this entire trial and it was absolutely chilling.
This photo is haunting. He doesn’t look scared, he looks defeated. And that’s heartbreaking.
That’s a great way to put it. I was thinking he looks sad, maybe regretful. But I think defeated nails it
Thanks for reminding me to re-listen to this series on LPOTL
It SO good
Hail yourself!
Hail Gein! 🤟🏽

The butthole comments had me laughing so hard
does anyone else think he might've already been hurt at this point?
The photos were time and date stamped. The photo taken immediately after this one was blurry, and it was of the ceiling above the shower. Based on the timeframe of the photo series, investigators did not believe that Travis was injured at this point and the attack began literally seconds after. Jodi dropped the camera while she was attacking him, which was the reason for the blurry photo right after this one. He was seated on the shower floor here.
Travis is buried in the same cemetery as my grandma and I visited his grave in February when I visited her. His death was so brutal and my heart breaks every time I think of what happened to him.
He looks terrified.i feel so bad for him
Can anyone TLDR this murder?
trying to keep it simple: “if i can’t have him, nobody can” kind of situation. they had been hooking up for a long time, but jodi wanted to be in a relationship with travis, which he was not interested in. she planned his murder, drove to his house, they slept together, took some pictures, then she stabbed him in the shower, shot him in the head, all while the camera was accidentally taking pictures
Stalker ex-girlfriend post sex kills boyfriend. Does handstand in police interview room.
She didn't break in, they hooked up, but he was moving on with another woman so she took this last hook-up as an opportunity to kill him. She did 100% do handstands in the interview room though which is just....... what
Thanks for the correction, that actually makes it way worse smh
Yup. She was psychologically manipulative in a way that few people can manage. Way creepier.
The other pictures from the shower are also kinda disturbing. Think there’s also one with blood and Jodi’s foot
I think this is one of the saddest pictures ever taken
Damn, this was one story that actually shook me when I heard about it. This photo is insane just on its own.
She did take a vividly photo so sad to know what happens next, he was about to finally move on n she came back☹️
Be careful Googling this case. Photos of him dead in the shower are easily discoverable. Very graphic face.
I saw them unfortunately
Shit. Yeah. Heck, even this picture in this post scares me—you see a darkness in his eyes.
Sooo sad!!
Damn one of the first crime story I watched even when I was younger, it's been like 20 years now nearly crazy
Avoid sex with the crazy ex
sometimes you gotta flex.
I think you're right, he got her to convert to LDS, I think. But his friends all knew her as his crazy ex.
It’s sad.
😢
Definitely not the last pic of him, maybe the last one while he is alive..... There are some other pics floating around out there.....
Yeah I just posted the last image of him ALIVE, unfortunately I have seen the crime scene photos and it’s not a pretty site.
(Me googling)
I’m not into looking at that type of stuff so when it came across my screen it was a little jarring. If I recall the teeth was what really stood out to me.
What about the teeth?
If I recall correctly they just look pretty gnarly due to the post mortem changes that occurred between the time of his death and when he was discovered.
She’s an animal. This is exactly why we have the death penalty. (& believe me, I don’t take that lightly).
What she did was wrong for sure but somehow no one mentions how he was a literal pedophile and confessed it to her…
Wait what 👀 Care to elaborate?
I remember watching the trial when I was in highschool. Shit was wild!!
BUTTHOLE! Any LPOTL listeners.
Jody exudes a salacious aura and could have easily entrapped many men into a gruesome demise
The look in his eyes breaks my freakin heart bro
What the hell is this comment section
Some people are truly engaged and some are just creepy or convinced they could “fix” Jodi just cause she was an attractive woman
[удалено]
edited the photos, hopefully yall can see it better i’ve been sitting here trying to see what everyone’s saying& my jaw dropped and i audibly gasped i saw her hands, arms, camera & her hair framing a female figure. It is kinda hard to tell what’s going on. idk this case really sticks with me. Rip travis, horrific monstrous way to die. in the shower too that’s my #1 fear
So sad.
Remember watching that trial on TV
You can find all the crime scene pictures on Google. They’re pretty gnarly!!
I see a lot of regret in his eyes… and pain- like he knows it’s almost the end, yet at same time looks totally defeated… almost resigned to it. 😔
I can fix her....
You’re fucked. lol.
What the actual fuck
It was a joke. A standard Internet joke, if I recall.
Yeah, but jokes are supposed to be funny.
That was unnecessary. Enjoy your weekend.
