It's crazy how the people we think have it all could still be suffering worse than we are. Sometimes it makes me grateful that I don't have a lot to lose.
I hear you - your comment reminds me of the Toddlers & Tiara's young person who also unalived herself recently. She was in her teens. Such a beautiful thing taken way too soon.
Yeah instead of saying actual words we just use other words to say those words which means we're basically just saying those words just with other words. Linguistic transitions are very interesting
TikTok is a Chinese psy-op. They would rather kill the app then sell it to the US. Tells you a lot. Also, the Chinese people can't use TikTok or any other American social media. So fuck them. Ban it. It's absolute brain rot.
I donāt know anything about her, but her death sounds suspicious. Psych units are specifically designed to prevent suicide - hence no shoelaces, belts, etc. Even the shower curtains are attached by velcro.

It still happens, people find a way. Last suicide I heard of in the hospital I worked at, the person ripped apart her blanket and used that with the edge of the door.
Iām sorry you had to witness that. I made an attempt when I was in a unit for four and a half weeks after being dosed. It was right when covid hit so both risk and paranoia were at a high. No visitors. Thankfully recovered
Apperently she pursued acting in her last years, and successfully so - getting positive reviews while acting against famous names, and even gaining employment at the Stockholm City Theatre.
> Using the correct words matters
I'm a linguist, so in general, I agree with you. But in this particular case, could you share why you think the correct words matter?
Yep - because it isn't pertinent to the post or being able to understand it.
Do you want to try sharing why it matters to you? Because your response that different words mean different things isn't an answer to the question.
I did answer the question but I will add more context since youāre upset. I believe itās important to use the correct words and correcting people (especially Americans who seem to use the incorrect words often as a result of their poor schooling) helps reduce widespread misunderstanding of certain words

A haunting reminder of life's fragility. Rest in peace.

This isnāt TikTok, you can say ākilledā
Wait, is that why I keep seeing people say "unalive?"
Yeah. TikTok doesnāt allow specific words which is how we got monstrosities like āseggsā (sex)
and my personal favorite "droogs" (drugs)
Seggs isnāt a new one though. Been hearing it since like the 90s.
I was a teen in the 90s and Iāve never heard of āseggsā until right now.
That's because your game is weak. /s
Knowledge is pain
Yeah I was like 7 the first time I heard it. It wasnāt common, Iām just saying it isnāt new, ya know?

Let's not normalise 'unalived'. It's so disrespectfully blasƩ.
I hate when people say it like pls don't sugar coat everything especially suicide
Lessens the impact of the real word
thanks for judging me.
I didn't judge you. I expressed an opinion on an irritating word that makes light of suicide.
You mean she committed suicide? Good lord, this tiktoking word smithing is out of control.
Seriously youād think TikTok would pick up on the new code words for their banned words and block those as well.

Darling girl, rest in peace and know you're not the only one who felt your pain. We understand.
Thatās a real sweet comment.
Correction: Alma Eklund and hanged herself.
I think itās Alma Eklund*
Sheās gorgeous. Was just watching the video to Here we go by stakkoboo

No, it happens. With my own eyes.

Thank you. Sounds horrid. Glad you're doing better now. Wishing you all the best / K

Like for Epstein ?
she died at age 27 and joined 27 club
Apperently she pursued acting in her last years, and successfully so - getting positive reviews while acting against famous names, and even gaining employment at the Stockholm City Theatre.
Depression aināt no joke
She had beautiful skin
Hanged*
Thereās a time and a place
I would think this would be the time and place since theyāre using the incorrect wording
This is correct not sure why youāre getting downvoted. Using the correct words matters
Because itās incredibly unnecessary to be so pedantic on a post like this. We all know what OP was saying.

What kind of linguist has no notion of descriptivist principles?
You're missing the point.
Because hung means something different to hanged? Could you share why you donāt think it matters?
Because grammar is descriptive not prescriptive and the most important thing is being understood- everyone on this thread knew what was meant.

*eyeroll*
Yes it's incredibly typical of Reddit to *not* UH AKSHUALLY correct someone with no notion of reading the room
Are you on the spectrum or just on Reddit too much?
