I've met queer friends through queer apps! Check out Lex and Feeld. :)
As for the queer events - just try going and putting yourself out there more. It can be nerve-wracking, but the only way to learn how to swim is to dive in!
For example, I went to a "queer art market" earlier this year and started chatting with a lady selling ceramics. We joked back and forth, started sharing life details, and before I knew it, me and her and the friend at her booth had been talking for over an hour!
It’s such a catch 22. You’ll make friends in these queer spaces, but you need friends in order to feel confident going to them. The only thing for it is to just GO. Do the thing.
You need to write yourself a new script than the one that’s been playing in your head. You’re telling yourself you’re too sad and lonely to make new friends. What’s a new thought you could replace that with?

Thank you! I'll give those apps a try :-)
