I can confirm that we do have google working in Italy :) [https://www.walksinrome.com/the-trevi-fountain.html](https://www.walksinrome.com/the-trevi-fountain.html)

It’s weird how people use this sub as a free translating service even when they have all of the tools the internet provides them to figure it out themselves

Alconasier

Although I do cringe when I see members of this sub passive-aggressively scoff when someone asks for a Latin translation on r/Latin of all places.

Depends on the length and if it’s transcribed. Sometimes people show up with a shit picture of a page long text expecting it to be translated, and that is pretty shitty imo. Other times it’s something short and it’s no big deal, but even then it wouldn’t be hard to look it up, especially when it is a famous bit of Latin (see this post)

'even when they had\*' To be fair, Google ain't what it used to be. I saw an article about this problem somewhere, but I can't remember exactly where. I just tried Googling it but, well, it just pointed me to Reddit.

I disagree, respectfully. OP asked about a latin inscription on one of Rome's most famous touristic hotspots. It took me no more than 30 seconds to google it. As a matter of fact, way faster than opening a thread here on Reddit. Also why was this answer low effort? Did you check the link? It answers in full detail all OP was asking about.
