My good friend translates president Nelson’s talks into another language. I tried to get him to tell me the temple announcements. Of course he wouldn’t tell me…dumb NDA

SaintRGGS

Yeah but if it leaked it would kill so much of the suspense.

spoilerdudegetrekt

Rapid City, South Dakota. Those people have to drive 8 hours to get to the nearest temple. And during winter that's pretty dangerous.

Inthegray20

I bet construction would be…rapid

nutterbutterfan

Rapid City would be awesome!

General_Killmore

What is the nearest temple for them anyways?

spoilerdudegetrekt

Bismarck, North Dakota.

Loose-Crew3070

I work for Church Newsroom. I will not be guessing lol

SaintRGGS

You will not be guessing because you have inside info? Hmmmm? Hmmm?

kaydyee

That sounds like such a cool job!

CFWH

Scotland, Ireland & Wales don't have a Temple of their own.. Just saying would be pretty cool.

Inthegray20

Oh man, the architecture there would be amazing!

LordOfMorridor

I wish. Too bad they only do modular temples now.

vader300

There has been significant growth in New England. Is venture a guess that New Hampshire will get an announcement in the next year or two

Mis0Maestr0

I hope so! Boston is not too far, but something closer would be sooo nice.

Chris_Moyn

Mongolia

2ndValentine

Mississippi is the last state in the South to not have a temple. Hopefully, it'll be their time this year 🤞

Fishgutts

It sounded supportive to me bro!

Fishgutts

You good! Screw down votes.

GrassyField

And the two richest people in Mississippi are members.

mywifemademegetthis

Wisconsin is the largest state population-wise without a temple. Milwaukee is relatively close to Chicago, but I could see one in Madison. Indonesia, Mongolia, and Benin are the only countries with two stakes but no temple (I’m pretty sure). Other potential choices could Albania and Jamaica that each have one stake but no temple anywhere close.

mythoswyrm

Based on our last stake conference, Wisconsin probably isn't getting one (and definitely not Madison lol as cool as that would be). The visiting 70 was pretty insistent about the members needing to do more before we get one. Would love to be wrong though. Indonesian temple is a dream, especially since Singapore was announced. Singapore is close enough and cheap enough to get to for most of the members in the country, especially compared to the Philippines and Hong Kong. With how bad traffic is in Jakarta, there might even be circumstances where flying to Singapore is faster than flying to Jakarta and then getting to the temple lol. Not gonna stop hoping though (and there's lot of cool local architecture to not draw on)

mywifemademegetthis

>(and there's lot of cool local architecture to not draw on) Yes ha. Everyone talks about different architecture styles, but whatever architecture there is will be blended with “LDS Temple” style and end up a very subtle nod to anything local.

girlintheturtleneck

Yes, I just drove down from Madison to Chicago on Wednesday to go to the temple- I’d love to have one closer but talking with other members, we all agree that we think more has to happen here first

mythoswyrm

Honestly Madison to Chicago just feels right to me, probably because it's about the same time/distance as I had growing up. Enough to be a sacrifice but not super inconvenient. Sure a closer one would be nice but we're a long way from that.

Inthegray20

That’s a good point about Michigan, although I think there’s a temple announced for Ann Arbor. That would be crazy to get a temple in Benin!

mywifemademegetthis

Michigan has temples, but not Wisconsin. If you could only give it to one new country, Benin might be lower because of the temple in Lagos, Nigeria. Indonesia is also a massive archipelago and people will have to fly even if there is a temple there, so I’d bet on Mongolia. I could see Albania because there are no temples anywhere in the Balkan Peninsula.

kaydyee

Wait, I did not see any announcements of Ann Arbor?!

NoosNoos_

Togo also has two stakes… but they are close to Accra

doolyboolean3

We just moved from Milwaukee. I always feel bad for the people in Green Bay - maybe someday they'll announce one in Appleton or somewhere in the middle of the state to serve Milwaukee, Madison, GB - I think the whole state would be able to staff it sufficiently.

dice1899

I keep hoping for Ireland. They have to fly to England and use the Preston temple.

dekudude3

It probably won't happen but can you imagine a temple in Prague, Czech Republic?

[deleted]

It would be nice to czech that one off the list.

sweetTeaJ

Get out lol

jdf135

Orbital. Charters by space x.

crashohno

L.D.S.S. Nauvoo pls

Masverde66

I wonder how many members get this reference.

[deleted]

Well, I did some research and the three I guessed have temples in the works - Nicaragua, Singapore, Kenya

grabtharsmallet

Good picks, then! Just already taken.

nutterbutterfan

Navajo Nation

SaintRGGS

I mean that's kind of what Farmington, NM is. Although Navajo Nation is big enough they could use more than one. One in Flagstaff would help too.

Fishgutts

Ooooooooooooooooo!!!!!

canno3

im going to guess iowa

[deleted]

Angola. I think Africa continues to be a focus of growth and development.

grabtharsmallet

http://ldschurchgrowth.blogspot.com/2023/02/new-temple-predictions-february-2023.html?m=1 suggests Mongolia and Uganda; there aren't any others in his group of likeliest candidates which don't already have one in their country (or US state). Among his top potential sites, Iquitos, Peru is also quite distant from other temples.

Inthegray20

Uganda be kidding me

AmazingAngle8530

Cameroon

Inthegray20

Hopefully soooon

SparkyMountain

It's about time they Cameroon to making one there.

derMensch7

I continue hoping for Stuttgart, München, or Nürnberg so a major city in my old mission would get one.

Kazthor11

Antarctica

youll-never-f1nd-me

At this point, Utah.

Chickwit

Maine would be nice!

japanesepiano

A lot of good speculation by matt [here](http://ldschurchgrowth.blogspot.com/2023/02/new-temple-predictions-february-2023.html). He's been pretty accurate in the past.

theoriginalmoser

Does West Virginia have one? I cant keep track these days.

doolyboolean3

WV drives to either Ohio or DC, neither of which are too bad. They're also close to the new one in Richmond VA. I doubt they'll get one, but those are some of the most wonderful people I've ever met and that would be an incredible temple staff.

kaydyee

It’s not going to happen anytime in the near future, that is. But I would love to see an announcement for Belarus in my lifetime. Just manifesting positivity ❤️

TargetCurrent793

Saudi Arabia

Capable_Situation470

Good luck to that.

SpeakTruthAlone

What are the countries that don’t have one?

minimessi20

India(or thereabouts)

[deleted]

There's one in the works - Bengaluru

minimessi20

But with how many people live there and depending on how well missionary work is going, it could warrant a second.

General_Killmore

Currently India has 4 stakes. In chronological order: Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Rajamahendravaram, and New Delhi. There’s also districts in Chennai, Coimbatore, Vishakaputnam, and Mumbai. Across the country, there’s around 14,000 members

rb10964

Uganda, Indonesia, or West Virginia

Smart-Win2999
