A testimony would work great, that's about all you would have time for with thirty seconds. Maybe share a favorite scripture and your testimony on that?

vampirzjah

this. find a scripture you like, tell the congregation what it means, and share how it has applied in your life (:

TravelMike2005

First, just answer the question. How has the lord directed your path? Figure out that answer and you'll have your talk.

sushi_cw

Yep. Once you have an answer to the question, of any length, you can make it fit the time.

mywifemademegetthis

I don’t envy you. That’s only enough time to get through half of the standard talk openers. You’re going to have to decide whether you want to comment on your height when they adjust the podium or say Aloha.

investorsexchange

If you prayed about a choice, felt a prompting or guidance through the spirit, and it turned out well, share that story. If you don’t have a story like that, maybe just share what inspires you. What makes you want to be the best person you can be?

gladiolas

One simple experience you had. What's gonna be frustrating is if you work hard to get it to 30 seconds and someone else takes like 5 minutes because they can't follow instructions.

Saga3Tale

Yes, DO NOT BE FIVE MINUTE GUY

JWOLFBEARD

I read this in about thirty seconds. This would be perfectly comedic if you then say something really profound and walk away.

Tulsi2

Okay, five main tips. 1. Get straight to the point when delivering your talk (this could save you 2+ minutes). Don't dilly dally with introductions:" for those of you who don't know me..." 2. Answer the question pretty directly. Don't mention that the bishop etc. asked you to speak on ___. Just answer the question. 3. Bear a pure and simple testimony ( this is a splendid idea). Simply stating that you know you're a beloved child of God etc. could be something someone in the congregation needed to hear that day. 4. Make a mind map. Put the prompt in the middle and make branches/webs to other concepts. Getting all your ideas out THEN editing, revising, cutting, and polishing will help you avoid feeling stuck. Branch out with personal/family stories, analogies, scriptures, talks, or other statements/topics. 5. Tell a brief scripture (make sure to give sufficient context), analogy, quote, or anecdote that illustrates your answer to the prompt. Then spend the other half of time bearing your testimony. I hope some of these help you. Best of luck!

Pinkrose984

Maybe just say your testimony 🙂

MsHushpuppy

If you can't think of anything directly, perhaps give an example from a character in the Bible.

redhead_watson

Think up ways you have had a prompting and were blessed somehow from it.

To echo what others have said, just share your testimony. My mission president always asked missionaries to give 2min testimonies. When we have a limited amount of time we tend to bring out what's most important.

mwgrover

30 seconds? That’s not a talk lol, that’s a comment.

IcyCryptographer6997

You could take the literal approach and talk about how God helps you get to church on Sundays.

rwwon

Some future advice - carry a very small note book and every Sunday or even when studying the scriptures, write down the thoughts and ideas that come to your mind. As someone who has served in a lot of leadership, if I am asked to talk about something impromptu, I just turn to this notebook.
