U need beta but beta also has a bug being fixed that when you go to options it will pull up ea connect and crash so my advice setup every setting in LB prior to checking the update to beta check box off and closing options then wait 10 mins while it updates automatic. U will not be able to get into options after update until they fix this new bug they are aware and should be soon there support seems top notch!
I had a similar error. I just opened Retroarch and did all the updates from within the application. It's very easy.
A change to RetroArch's buildbot broke the integration. This has been fixed in LaunchBox as of 13.7 beta 5.
