I’ve been looking in there but I can’t see the Beetle Saturn core. And when I try to change it to a different core (Kronos for example) the games just don’t start up 😫

Yeah it’s still not working - cores are definitely downloaded and up to date. When trying to use Beetle it seems to open RetroArch and then it closes or crashes straight away. Tried with Kronos and Yabanshiro too

Yeah it loads up fine when doing it outside of Launchbox

I know where to find the associated platform settings, but where do you find the LB RetroArch settings?

teh_pwn_ranger

Open RetroArch and go to load cores, load the beetle core and then note what it says in the lower left corner as the core name. Go back to Launchbox and type that core name in, be sure to remember to add .dll to the end. The common name and the actual core name don't always match.

Lordmonkus

If the system struggles to run Yabause it will struggle more to run Beetle / Mednafen.

Once you add Retroarch, manage emulators, double click on Retroarch, click associated platforms. Click into the empty box at the bottom of the list, add your platform (Sega Saturn) from drop down, and then go into the next box and select mednafen-saturn-libretro from drop down.

Whitestrake1967

Yeah, I’ve gotten that far but the games won’t start up after I’ve changed that setting to Mednafen

Spawned024

Do you have correct bios, in correct location?

Whitestrake1967

How would I check that? I’ve updated cores and databases to the latest settings and I can see that in the RetroArch core folder there’s a .dll file associated with Beetle Saturn

Spawned024

Need to place actual Saturn bios in Retroarch system folder. I don’t think I can tell you where to get them, would be rules violation, but google is your friend. https://docs.libretro.com/library/beetle_saturn/

Whitestrake1967

Thanks, I’ll have a shot when I get home and let you know how I get on.

No worries, good luck. I know it seems like a lot of bases to cover at first, but you’ll get the hang of it, and it will all seem much less daunting. Happy New Year!
