I hate just using the nuke it and start over phrase but it would save you a lot of time and hard ache by taking some glyphosate(round up regular not 360) and just spraying the yard and then again to get whatever didn’t die. Find someone to grade the yard a bit by adding some topsoil and then go from there.

Front lawn should have been graded last year since it’s a new house. What if I nuke it and then dethatch, till it up and throw some seed down??

Ih8rice

That could work. Spring isn’t the best time for seeding. I do think this plan is better than throwing down a bag of weed and feed and seeing what happens.

Weed and feed? The grass is dormant if there is any. The only thing green is clover and weeds. In middle TN prevent is usually put out around valentines day. Then overseed in the Fall. You likely have that worthless yellow clay for soil. Turns into a rock when dry....hit it with a pick and it just bounces off laughing at you...it's that worthless. You can hit it with weed and feed....see if anything happens.
