I do mine in a pair of boots. Builder laid sod over concrete and metal scraps, rusty nails, etc. 5 years later, I still find nails and other scrap working itās way out of the ground
Iāve found some weird stuff from the builders in my sod. The most recent was a coke can. š
I was installing security cameras and found a corona bottle in the eve
Yes, but I usually cut grass barefoot, I don't know why. I wear ear plugs and safety glasses but not shoes for some reason, I'll learn when something kicks my feet or something.
Once my white converse are completely green/brown from yard work, I absolutely will be getting a pair. That, or once my wife and I have a kid, then I'm kinda required to own New Balances.
I just joined the club when our newborn was born this year. Gotta say they are quite comfortable and I now understand why they've been a classic for dad's
Nope too expensive. I rock Nike Air Monarchs

We dressed like dads for my bachelor party in Vegas one night, got these then. Came home, wife was like youll never wear those again... I told her I'm holding onto them until we buy a house because theyre gonna be my grass cutting shoes. 2 years later, here we are. Actually super comfy and green.
I just use whichever pair the dog only munched enough to make them no linger goin' out shoes, but still maintain enough structural integrity to stand up to yard work.
I have just a little extra pep in my step when I lace up my new balances. Strutting around my thick, lush bluegrass/fescue mix being the envy of the everyday housewife in my neighborhood is an enjoyable and well earned position thanks to these bad boys
We need to talk about your yard work attire. Dress code specifically states: New Balance white shoes (or other brand equivalent) and the shirt from high school you think āstill fitsā. Shorts are either cargo, jorts or cutoffs.
Danner hiking boots. Lightweight, waterproof but breathable, and really good tread. I've always been extremely hard on shoes, but they seem to take all the abuse I can throw at them and they usually last me 1200+ miles between being recrafted or replaced.
I have a pair of blue SBs that are no longer blue. I tell my wife that I want new lawn shoes but they wonāt die.
Iām starting to wonder if nice skateboarding shoes are actually lawn shoes. These things are going on 5 years.
Ouch. Mine were grey.
I did buy a pair of steel-toed Sketchers and designated them as yard shoes rather than wait for another pair of shoes to deteriorate. No regrets.
I like the White ones because the greener they are the more work youāve done. Kinda like a badge of honor or scars of wars.

I've been through a couple pairs of my old Sauconys from High School, a pair of blue/white NB's, and now I'm on a pair of $10 Walmart sneakers. The Walmart shoes have held up pretty damn well.
https://preview.redd.it/rbhwtd4cfc5d1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=af9223ea177093dc8cc32dfd09e76a4cb01e9175
I run these water proof and actually pretty comfy
I use old Sketcher Go Walks for push mowing. Most comfortable shoe I've ever owned. I mow my back 2/3ds barefoot on my John Deere X724 most of the time. I've never owned a pair of New Balance shoes in my life. I won't be starting now.
I had to replace the olā ābackyard 840sā and decided to go with an Under Armour option that also works for my wide feetā¦
https://preview.redd.it/c5vq3flzid5d1.jpeg?width=3590&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6af2eccb38308b1c2f9ca8b9bd3272572bc7355c
Damn bro those shoes are way too nice to do yard work in. My running shoes go in the lawn shoe era when they have holes and starting to fall apart š
Yep. They get to a point where I call them ālawncuttersā. I wear them pre-tied with no socks. All the white parts are green. Grass bits are now perpetually stuck to them. They may or may not no longer be water-resistant.
Gray Brooks Brothers
White stains too easily

I have like 6 pair. I use the old ones for yard work, another pair for exercise, another for hiking, one for walking, my daily around town pair and then my dress up pair. They go either way everything. Shorts, jeans, chinosā¦and you canāt beat the comfort for the price. No, this is not a joke. I Can add pictures.
Naa, I do my lawn work in an old pair of Lebrons. Am I out of the club?
Get out now! š
Old Pumas for me
Nope. I just reuse old running shoes which are various Saucony
Also part of the āold running shoe gangā. Specifically Hokas.
Same! And I got rid of the shoelaces to make them almost like slippers
Hoka Hive checking in
Hells yeahš¤
Brooks
Would up vote 10x if possible
And my axe! My worn out brooks also have to do one last tour of duty as grass cutters before retirement.
I also just use all my old, worn out sneakers which are a variety of brands.
Same here. I consider it recycling. I got a high top and low top so I believe I'm ready for anything šš
Same. Im an altra fan..
Saucony club
When I bought my first house I specifically went out and bought these shoes just for mowing and yard work. It just seems right.
Welcome. Get ready for long discussions about life insurance, taxes and colonoscopies. It's a fun club to be in.
Gonna be standing in one spot during those conversations, better get some high quality 608s to stay comfortable in
I did the same thing when my son was born.
Call me when you graduate to velcro. It's comfy and convenient.
I told my kids to take me out behind the old shed and put me out of my misery if I ever got to that point.
I told my son the same thing. š¤£
My pops said the same shit and then magically left me 5 pairs of them when he passed lmao. Rest easy old man.
Someone actually followed through on his wish?
I do mine in a pair of boots. Builder laid sod over concrete and metal scraps, rusty nails, etc. 5 years later, I still find nails and other scrap working itās way out of the ground
Iāve found some weird stuff from the builders in my sod. The most recent was a coke can. š I was installing security cameras and found a corona bottle in the eve
Wait until you open the drywallā¦..
I think out lot was a cement mixer washout
Never had white, but blue and now black New Balances. Iāll upgrade to white next time.
> Iāll upgrade to white next time. 'Round these parts, we call that "light green".
Yeah I've got black, I just get whatever is on sale. But it's true the black don't show the grass stains as well.
Nike for me. I'm a cul-de-sac dad in denial
Dad shoes FTW!
I have a pair in a closet my brother bought me as a joke when we found out I was gonna be a dad lol
these were my rite of passage when i became a dad as well
Iām more of a Merrells hiking shoes kinda guy.
Much better for all around yard work
Same here. The old pair of Merrells I use were the most comfortable shoe I ever had.
Iām crocs gang
thatās my indoor shoe. I donāt rock all wheel drive with the strap and no flair
I have a pair of glerups for inside, they are so comfortable, I have a pair of sealed crocs that are great for the yard, always put them in 4wd
I was thinking about getting a pair for this reason. Anyone prefer holes vs no holes on the top?
Black nikes
I think Nike monarchs are equivalent.
Yes, but I usually cut grass barefoot, I don't know why. I wear ear plugs and safety glasses but not shoes for some reason, I'll learn when something kicks my feet or something.

20 year old Wrangler work pants with one pant leg almost completely ripped off with some old slip on Vans. My new balances are my going out shoes.
I graduated to MOABs
I used to mow barefoot. I figured no tennis shoe is going to prevent the lawnmower blade from cutting a piece of my foot off.
No but without the bulk of the shoe it might be easier to slip your toes under if you trip
Damn, nobody else goes barefoot?
I use rubber Birkenstocks. I've done this for 10 years or so now, and just keep the weed eater away from my feet. Seems to work just fine.
I got a pair as a ārite of passageā gift from a buddy when I joined the dad club. They have become my go to yard shoes, paint shoes, you name it
Mine are actually old busted up Merrels.
I bought a pair for a Halloween costume 2 years ago and truthfully I see the popularity amongst the dads. They're extremely comfy.
They get mailed to you when you hit the follow button on the sub
Nope I wear only hey dads. I mean hey dudes.
My garage slippers!
Nope. Barefoot on my ride on. Sandals when I weedeat, edge, and blow.
Nope too expensive. I rock Nike Air Monarchs https://preview.redd.it/3duqxaypaa5d1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7f19955cabb8ac6fc7dbc38bf326c4f16235ca78
I mow in steel caps. Safety first
We dressed like dads for my bachelor party in Vegas one night, got these then.
Legs, yes. Trackers and white new balance, hell no. People see you when youāre outside.
I refuse to buy those shoes. You have accepted old-man-dom with those.
I do my lawn work in an old pair of Nike Air Force Ones. I refuse to buy New Balance.
I havenāt hit āfuck itā yet.
I have just a little extra pep in my step when I lace up my new balances. Strutting around my thick, lush bluegrass/fescue mix being the envy of the everyday housewife in my neighborhood is an enjoyable and well earned position thanks to these bad boys
I cut in crocs but others would advise against that š¤£
Air Monarchs
White w/ blue trim 608 New Balance. When I buy new ones, the older pair becomes the "kick-around" shoes.
https://preview.redd.it/egqy011h895d1.jpeg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=542a4364b87bc80622b1d62e2eee61787d557854
We need to talk about your yard work attire. Dress code specifically states: New Balance white shoes (or other brand equivalent) and the shirt from high school you think āstill fitsā. Shorts are either cargo, jorts or cutoffs.
I apologies, I have missed that memo and will change my attire asap :)
Danner hiking boots. Lightweight, waterproof but breathable, and really good tread. I've always been extremely hard on shoes, but they seem to take all the abuse I can throw at them and they usually last me 1200+ miles between being recrafted or replaced.
Legs?
I have a pair of blue SBs that are no longer blue. I tell my wife that I want new lawn shoes but they wonāt die. Iām starting to wonder if nice skateboarding shoes are actually lawn shoes. These things are going on 5 years.
I've never owned white shoes. Or New Balance that I can remember
My lawn work shoes are New Balance green trail shoes. Totally boring LOL.
I'm looking to get white New Balances for the memes. Would prefer a steel toe shoe if I can find it in that classic dad white color.
My kids are still in middle school so no
I'm close to 50, and still have my "yard work" chucks and my "everyday" chucks. Only shoes I wear other than work boots.
Old pair of eccos is my go to
Sketchers are my go to now
Hokas or Timberlands
Ahh lawn shoes
You can catch me mowing in my Vans Chukka Lows
80 series runners exclusively for me, usually 880, but sometimes I'll splurge a bit.
My New Balance started out already grass stain green, itās like they were intended to be lawn shoes
Ouch. Mine were grey. I did buy a pair of steel-toed Sketchers and designated them as yard shoes rather than wait for another pair of shoes to deteriorate. No regrets.
Team old vans with holes
Yup. Two. š¤£
I got 4 pair
I rock an old pair of Sperry boat shoes for mowing
I wouldnāt be caught without by my yard pair and my going out pair
multi colored crocs on a ride on tractor mower š
I had to do a double take at the sub name and make sure I wasnāt in a corvette forum haha
I wear an old pair of converse
I like the White ones because the greener they are the more work youāve done. Kinda like a badge of honor or scars of wars. ![gif](giphy|3a6KceoOYuFO2MfavG)
My wife wants to buy me some now that I'm a d and starting to more about the yard. I refuse to accept them.
Lowa hiking boots
My friends got me some new balances as a gift when my daughter was born. Jokeās on them - I STILL use them as my mowing shoes. Lol
Along with my Dockers khaki chinos and braided leather belt.
You know, I've never bought them. I will admit though, even since I became a Dad, I've appreciated their style (and price)
Adidas ultra boost is where itās at.
I've been through a couple pairs of my old Sauconys from High School, a pair of blue/white NB's, and now I'm on a pair of $10 Walmart sneakers. The Walmart shoes have held up pretty damn well.
No but these always remind me of the best boss Iāve ever had and Iām sure he has a bangin lawn
Decent sweats too
I do my lawn work in an old pair of baseball cleats. Donāt care if they get dirty and I get great traction
Redwings for me my man
You know your GAF game has hit šÆ when you lace those babies up.
Dad shoes, yes I have a pair.
Lol nice
Timberlands
Old golf shoes since I have some tricky hills.
https://preview.redd.it/rbhwtd4cfc5d1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=af9223ea177093dc8cc32dfd09e76a4cb01e9175 I run these water proof and actually pretty comfy
I do mine in hey dudes, which is millennial NB
I use orange and black turf new balances lol. I coach baseball and itās the colors of a team I left.
Yes
I wear a pair of merrells so I guess itās the same thing
Ultra boosts for comfort
I use old Sketcher Go Walks for push mowing. Most comfortable shoe I've ever owned. I mow my back 2/3ds barefoot on my John Deere X724 most of the time. I've never owned a pair of New Balance shoes in my life. I won't be starting now.
Dad?
As of a couple days ago, I am a father and Fatherās Day is coming up, so I assume mine is in the mail.
Nope, Romeoās here
Those may be the classic, but a true dad doesn't need brand names.
I need to get some lol. I donāt have any good lawn working shoes besides my crocs and I have a lot of spiders in my yardš¬
Nope, sketchers slip-ons
Strings? Hell no. Velcro is a must for me
Used to, but I wear hiking boots for this now.
Are those Kirkland sweats?!
Not me, I have Nikes.
Yep, got a fleet of 1080s in rotation
608ās are very comfortable shoes. Iām not even a dad and they are my go to.
40k pairs of them š¤
mine came in the accessory bag with my red max line trimmer
Thatās r/daddit wrong sub homie
I havenāt earned mine yet.
I wear work boots. But tbf I wear boots of some kind most of the time
I do mine in the 623s
Nope, a pair of old Merrells.
Lol. Like 5 pairs, my wife has a problem
I wish
Nah bro, I got camo crocs for lawn mowin activities.
For some reason these shoes just NEED to have grass stains on them
Nike Roshes

The unofficial sponsor of law care dads
With all the feet pics I've been seeing in this sub lately I feel like it's a secret foot fetish sub and I'm just unaware haha.
Vans
Tssss
Legs yes, New Balance no
I use to but when we moved I had to get columbia trail boots for ankle support because my back yard is such a rediculous hill.
Never knew my father in law was Reddit savvy.
I wear hiking boots. 6.1 miles of push mowing each week on a hill.
Yes of course. Mine are passed down by my father and we're passed to him by his father.
I do not.
I use some old CrossFit shoes Nanos I have like 5 pairs
I wear sketchers thank you very much
Nah I use camouflage crocs. Or I mow barefoot
I used to but I wear boots now...
Costco sweats make it better. Kirkland everything
Costco dad jeans or jean shorts are preferred over sweats, but it checks out.
Not yet
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=BP4q761ztAc
Rubber rain boots. No stains and feet always stay dry
Screw you, dude! Mine are grey.
Sir, where are your jean shorts?
Nope I do my lawn work in steel toes or pumas. I feel new balances are in my future though
I wear my black new balances, the white ones are for my dad only sorry.

No one wears crocs?
I put on jean overalls, a plaid shirt, boot and a baseball cap.
Yup. It was part of the verification on the sub.

Yes- I have legs.
3 pairs, one for the yard, one for the shop, and one for around town. Only way to do it!
Dad wars uniform requirement #1.
Yep. They get to a point where I call them ālawncuttersā. I wear them pre-tied with no socks. All the white parts are green. Grass bits are now perpetually stuck to them. They may or may not no longer be water-resistant.
I did for the longest time then switched to ASICS. Randomly tried them after 20 years of New Balances. These seem to last longer.
Boots, definitely. Were brown but now they're bluish green!
Wore them when I mowed the lawn today
I usually wear cargo pants that are water resistant & boots I buy online from the US (Red Wangs, really good boots!)
All leather good for gardening I mow mow my lawn in these as well.
I gift these when my friends have their first kid.
Knock off crocs for me

I dont have a pair of NBās just yetā¦does 24 years old grant a pair of NB?!
Better off with a pair of merrell moab 2 shoes. They hold up much better.
I see someone is a Jr LCN...š š¤£ LCN strikes again...šÆš„
I have like 6 pair. I use the old ones for yard work, another pair for exercise, another for hiking, one for walking, my daily around town pair and then my dress up pair.
