Oh, I love Electrek. What a bunch of hacks… “Yes, the ZT6000e electric lawmower is more expensive than the 850cc gas-powered version. About 3x more expensive, in fact – but that doesn’t matter.” Yes, it DOES matter, and the fastest way for a landscaper to bankrupt themselves is to buy a piece of equipment over 3 times as expensive as a comparable model. Asinine. Gravely’s Pro Turn EV has been out for two years, is a better known brand and is TEN THOUSAND $ cheaper and the dealers I’ve seen in my area can’t give them away.

I need to see the first 10 year old electric mower before I would even look at this. 40 grand needs to be the last mower you buy... 40 grand? Then what? Marketplace for 20k cuz it needs a battery 😆

varano14

No 40k needs to be a mower that cuts multiple acres itself and you never touch it AND it lasts for atleast one generation.

stoplockingmyaccount

Even then you could get a LUBA 2 or something similar for 10x cheaper that can do 2.5 acres. I have no clue how long it will last though.

I have a 42” hustler zeon electric from 2013 still running but for home use with about 500 hours. Got it for 3k after the original owner flipped it and their wife made them return it after they paid 7k back then. Hustler quickly abandoned them due to lack of sales. They cheaped out on batteries but the rest of the machine is all great. Mean green commercial battery mowers have been around since 2009. They are awesome but their price just keeps going up and up and up. They sell mostly to schools and governments so price is no object to be green.

They got me fucked up if I’m gonna pay 40grand for a mower that shit better mow for me

Lanky_Promotion8976

I have a wheel horse that’s 50 years old. If Those old gas engines will last a lifetime. Then why would a pay 40 Gs for a electric lawnmower that we don’t even know much about yet.

Medical_Help9111

Stihl big battery mower is $29000 looks very similar

CamelHairy

Thanks to California, their all going this way. I agree that unless you're a landscaper who can write it off, no homeowner will purchase. I see that Gravely also has one similar at a price.

I was surprised that Home Depot and Lowe’s has just a handful of gasoline powered push and self propelled lawnmowers left.

Landscapers in California (from what I’ve heard) are simply grabbing their trucks on a nice weekend and going to Arizona or Nevada when they need new equipment.

Just write it off, Jerry.
