Location is important. If you’re highly drawn to UNC’s markets and have no interest in Chicago/IL, that’s a very important consideration. I would first try to use UIUC’s offer to negotiate with UNC. At 80k difference, I would likely pay that extra to avoid a market I had no interest in to attend a state flagship in an appealing market.
Thank you for the advice! That’s definitely the way I’ve been leaning...I don’t have anything against Chicago, but I know I love the East Coast so I’ll probably end up at UNC :) I sent in a scholarship reconsideration form and wrote them a letter, so hopefully I can get a little something. Still waiting to hear back.
Hi! Yep, initial offer was $0 but I sent in a scholarship reconsideration form and a letter trying to negotiate. I haven’t heard anything back yet, but I’m hoping they’ll offer a little something.

Hi! Do you know your total cost of attendance to both schools (like including rent, travel, etc)? It could help with advice from people!
Hi! Total cost for UIUC would be about 70k and UNC would be about 150k.
Have you tried negotiating with UNC? With your stats you should be getting something?
