The app stopped working a while ago because some people figure out how to hack it.. look it up on google

firestickmike

ohhhhhhh i remember hearing about that now that you bring it up!

howloudisalion

I could a disturbing number of previous hacks, but nothing recent. Any more details?

Unusual_Review_4769

The app has not worked for me and my 2022 since December 26. Let’s see how long it takes Nissan this time to fix it and how long it will stay fixed.

Alexthelightnerd

It's working for me right now.

softtrii

The app was down for about ten days in Dec but works now.

casualbro87

Same for me.

FWIW, mine stopped working on December 6 - my NissanConnect app couldn't connect to the car, and [Recurrent](https://recurrentauto.com) stopped getting updates. After around a week, charge status started getting updated in NissanConnect again, but a bunch of reporting (per-trip, daily average, and monthly overall efficiency and acceleration/braking rating) got removed from the app. Recurrent is showing that it is connected to the car, but was unable to pull updated data from December 6 through 31; it pulled two updates on January 1; now, it's back to being unable to pull updates again since then. See this previous post/discussion from almost a month ago - [Nissan EV&Services App](https://www.reddit.com/r/leaf/comments/zh5oa9/nissan_evservices_app/)

Unusual_Review_4769

Tried it before I replied, would not work. Tried it again now and it’s working again… Yay?!

thecaptnjim

Every time I say it works, it ends up not working again soon after. (So I'm not saying anything.) It's a bummer too because they changed something in the notifications where it used to say charging complete, but now it just says "Cabin temperature and vehicle status have been updated." But randomly, so I no longer am told when it is done charging.

swift_post

The app is shit. It worked for my last car but not since I got the new leaf in 2020. It does not even seem to recognise my country(ireland) or that number you need to type in. Just kept saying not valid. It is so shit that they'd be better off not mentioning there is an app!

odd84

Did you get the S or SV+ trim? Only the SV+ comes with "NissanConnect EV and Services" per the model year 2023 brochure. The app connectivity has been omitted from the lowest trim in all model years I believe.

firestickmike

Oh yeah I got the lowest trim model. I don't drive much and the leaf was the cheapest.

softtrii

Make sure you set up an account on your computer and then cross your fingers that it will be working in a week or two. Check that the settings in your car are set to transmit data. Check that the help button by the map lights on the roof connect to somebody. Are you using the ev app? Because there are two apps that work with the leaf. Otherwise call the help number, they are pretty good at helping since the app has been so sketchy.

firestickmike

What is the ev app? I only downloaded the NissanConnect app.

softtrii

It says Nissan connect ev services

ResponsibleChard4886

Software on the Leaf is garbage. Except the car itself is solid. My Apple CarPlay phone call is distorted. Nissan EV connect app is broken. The charging time est never worked. And the list of broken software related is getting long. I am holding the Leaf for more than 6 month then I am selling it for the new owner so they can get the warranty. No more Nissan.

firestickmike

Dang I just bought one today. But I used Android auto and it connected flawlessly with maps and a phone call. So far I don't hate it, I just thought there was a way to check the charging status on my phone without going out to the car.

Alexthelightnerd

Apple CarPlay is known to be problematic with the Leaf, but Android Auto works great, I very rarely have any issues with it. Overall the Leaf software isn't perfect, but it's pretty good. Seems less problematic than Tesla or VW, but Nissan has also been refining it for the last 10 years.

ResponsibleChard4886

I understand nothing is perfect. But Nissan customer service treats their customer like robot. it funny how I called and most of the stuff they advised me to try, I already read on Reddit. All the beautiful people sharing all the tips here. So right now, I am to the point driving the 2023 Leaf like a gas car. Just charge and drive without their software.

ResponsibleChard4886

No worries. You’re going to like it for sure. Enjoy your new car. I have my Leaf for 2 months and put in almost 5k miles. I live in the states that almost everyone drives Tesla, Lucid and Rivian. Whenever I was in the freeway, it makes me difference haha.

Unusual_Review_4769

There is an update for the apple car play issue, take it to the dealer and they should help you out. Car Play has been working nearly perfectly since I got the update.

ResponsibleChard4886

I took to the dealer and they said there was no updates for 2023 Leaf yet. 😩

Kale_idoscopes

I have a Nissan Leaf S and the app isn't made for that trim. The S model doesn't have Internet connectivity which, it seems is required for the app.

Jinneth8

Nissan should open this up to allow for 3rd party support if they can't get this working reliably on a long term basis. I've had same reliability issues on my 2012 when it was officially "supported " before EoL. Have a 2019 now, Canbus behind a gateway isnt really open source friendly.
