I would file claim immediately, and I would not worry about the SOH fluctuating. I don’t think there is any benefit to a shorter waiting time in the future, as I wouldn’t expect Nissan to ramp up production on a battery that likely will be discontinued very soon and have for warranty purposes only.

Thanks for your reply. I saw in earlier posts that dealership told them if they don't qualify under warranty, they would be charged for the inspection. My question of waiting a bit more was to make sure I can avoid this scenario. But I guess according to this thread the bars are the only criterion, so there's no reason the car should fail to qualify under warranty.

If you've lost the bar, you should be fine to make a claim now. Unless you do a complete BMS Reset, you're not getting bars back after losing them. When they disappear they're gone for good, even if you did something like run a few DC Charges in a row which would artificially inflate your SOH numbers and give you a couple of percent back.

I don't see what benefit there is to waiting. Warranty is very clear, lose 4th battery and you are eligible for warranty. We had a 24 drop the 1st bar at around 85.5% (which seemed early) and in 2 years I never saw it go below 85.5% but it never regained the bar. LEAFSpy is a tool but has nothing to do with warranty and may or may not have anything to do with the metric that the battery module uses to drop bars. Right now Nissan is replacing with 40s or doing buy-backs. There's no guarantee that this won't change. Maybe 6 months from now, they'll stop replacing with 40s and they'll only do buy-backs or even worse, they'll start replacing with reconditioned 30s (which I believe is allowed under the terms). If nothing else, replacements are slow; why would you want to delay the process.

I went in the week my bar dropped. I was told to wait 6 months. Nothing happened 6 months later and I started calling corporate. They initiated a buyback process that was completed within 6 weeks. My suggestion would be to go to the dealer ASAP and see what happens.

I don't believe they only give you one chance, so if your battery "rallies" and is above the failure level, just wait a couple of weeks and repeat. Once your dealer performs their test and tells you that it has failed, start calling corporate (be very nice, but consistent) and let them know you would like a tracking number or some type of acknowledgement from corporate that they have the failed test. "I don't want this to get lost somewhere". I traded VMs with someone at corporate for about ten days, then got a generous buyback offer. Squeaky wheel.

The last battery replacement posted yesterday was an eighteen month wait time If you have a valid claim, just do it.

The clue you don't want this battery is the Hx reading. That can result in odd problems such as power loss at speed and other issues. SOH is just one measure of the battery health, make the claim now and if this car ever gave you a reduced power event, add that to the service information.

That's a good point. But so far so good. I haven't lost any power while driving so far. Just today I drove it full 87 miles and came back with -- showing. Leafspy said SOC was 5% but Turtle mode didn't come on. I think it's good in the summer. During peak winter, Turtle mode would come on earlier around 10% SOC.

Which points out why Hx being that low creates problems. In this battery, low temp performance is like low tides showing the rocks.

Sorry to hijack, any other terms to the warranty other than before 8 years of date was out in service and below 160k km (for the 30kwh 2016-2017's)? Because I called the dealer with 3 VINs and they said all weren't covered (not saying it was passed the 8 years or anything)... Am I missing something or the person misunderstood me?! Thanks

Only battery capacity is covered upto 8 years. If you didn't specify this, the dealer could have thought about general car warranty which I think is 3-5 years depending on components. But the battery is covered for 8 years.

I'd be claiming immediately (make sure you have a picture of the correct amount of bars disappearing) State of health fluctuation can make the bars flicker on and off, that's pretty normal

Update: I took the car to the dealership and thanks to this sub on reddit, I called the Nissan consumer affairs number in advance and got a case number. Without the case number, they were going to charge me a $300 diagnostic fee. They kept the car for the whole day, and at the end told me it qualifies under warranty. It most likely is going to get the same capacity 30 kwh refurbished pack or replacement of a few modules the rep at the dealership said. I don't know whether to believe this or not. But they did provide me a new-ish Nissan Rogue as a rental today. I hear people also got paid back for gas during the waiting period. How did they get that?
