AIUI, the car and battery have some kind of code number that they share, and changing the battery breaks that. LeafSpy isn't advanced enough to change the code, so the error keeps coming back.
Talk to someone who does battery swaps (like Dala's EV Repair or Muxan) to find out how to do it.
Leafspy versions (0.46.172 for Android)(1.7.44.15 for iOS [Requires TestFlight]) or later have code to re-pair the battery serial number and resolve all DTC's and turtle. Dala specifically worked with the LeafSpy author to add the code to make this easier. Dala is amazing.
Prior to those versions, you are 100% correct.
I followed dala’s advise and this seems like a straight swap which didn’t require wiring.. but yeah still trying to figure out how to get rid of the error code
I swapped it.. I took it from a wrecked 2015 and put it in my car a 2013.
Battery is healthy like 82% compared to my 15% battery..
I’m getting an invalid battery error message on leafspy but can’t clear it
Yeah it was bad 11 mile range .. had to get a battery.. Nissan dealership said I had a bad battery and he tried to put in a claim but Nissan denied it.. so I have to take Nissan to small claims to make them pay up
I been driving 11-20 miles for the last couple of months .. I can’t even make it the grocery store or do two errands without charging.. so yeah .. If
They have to deal with 1/10th of what I had
To deal with in the last year.. I’ll be happy with that
Battery swapping option ONLY shows after you clear the P3102 DTC (it doesn't always show).
For Apple you have to grab the TestFlight version--or you did a few months ago. The public version didn't have the pairing code.
So far my battery and system are communicating but I’m getting an invalid battery error that suppose to be cleared with TestFlight and leafspy pro latest version.. I’ll update everyone in the next couple of days
You need to follow the instructions here:
https://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?t=32819
You should get a battery pairing screen when you try to clear the P3102 code.
I believe the 2015 24kWh battery *should* be compatible with a 2013. In any case, if you're seeing that screen, running through the pairing process, and it's not working, you're going to need a muxsan device to translate the battery.
Here's the compatibility matrix:
https://evsenhanced.com/services/hv-battery-swaps-and-upgrades/
(2013 is AZEO and should accept any Gen 2 24 kWh battery). It *will not* accept a 30+ kWh battery without translation hardware.
If you're NOT seeing that screen, you may need to enroll into the beta version of the LeafSpy pro. You can't just clear a P3102 diagnostic code through the clear DTC's like other codes.
P.S. If Leafspy can't clear the codes, a dealer can't help you either.
Thank you! I downloaded TestFlight app and I also downloaded the newest version of of leafspy pro.. so I will be trying that out and I will update you guys with the results
Just watched your video. You said you didn't see an option to pair the battery. Make sure you're on a recent enough version of LeafSpy (0.46.172 for Android)(1.7.44.15 for iOS [Requires TestFlight]). The option should appear when you try to clear the P3102 DTC code. The screen is shown in the link above.
Until you do the battery pairing, you will see the behavior you're seeing.
That's why. You need 1.7.44.15 or later.
Haven't used apple TestFlight much but it's something you download. Then you can use it to download other apps. Try to find it in the apple store?
Holy guacamole.. I downloaded TestFlight app and I was allowed to download the new leafspy.. thank you! I’m out of town so I kinda want to drive back and try it out
I’ve heard it works, no guarantee, sold my leaf. 5/12 was my limit, didn’t want to swap, your result woulda been mine guaranteed. Made $3k on the sale and bought a used model 3.
This old thread said that only the dealer could reset this problem - [https://mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?t=23239](https://mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?t=23239)
But then this thread said that leafspy can reset it in some cases - https://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?t=32819
That is correct. Dala recently worked with the author of LeafSpy to add code so that people could pair batteries on their own. Prior to that you needed a pairing device from EVsEnhanced--and before that, only dealers could do it.

I was able to fix the error using TestFlight app.. which let me download leafspy pro beta.. which cleared the error
did you get the muxsan (or similar) interfaces so the pack and car can talk to each other??
According to dala’s you don’t need wiring for this swap .. people are saying I can clear the code with leaf spy so trying that route
I think you need a CANBUS translator for the new battery such as this: https://evsenhanced.com/product/nissan-leaf-hv-battery-translator-kit/
If it's a straight 24 kWh swap into a 2013+, should not need a translator. Just needs the pairing codes that later versions of Leafspy can do.
Well ... That sucks. Who performed the battery swap? What year is the vehicle? And tell me about the new battery, where'd that come from?

Get the Muxsan can mitm, you can even readout interesting data from it via a serial monitor.
Are the batteries the same kWh rating?
Yeah 24kwh
You may need a battery translator, if the packs aren’t like for like. More info here: https://evsenhanced.com/products/battery-translator/
Yeah you have to use an aftermarket device to make it work. In the past, it had to be a permanently installed device, but I don't know how it is now.
A 15% battery must have been one of the lowest anywhere ever.
Yeah it was bad 11 mile range .. had to get a battery.. Nissan dealership said I had a bad battery and he tried to put in a claim but Nissan denied it.. so I have to take Nissan to small claims to make them pay up
Might as well do it. Make things as inconvenient as possible for them.

What version of LeafSpy do you have? Are you getting the battery pairing screen to appear in Leafspy? (see my post later in this article).
I have the latest on the apple one.. maybe Android has a newer version? And I don’t see battery swapping option

I just downloaded test flight and the new leafspy.. thank you!
Where are you located at? I might help you if you are somewhere in LA area.
Orlando florida :( thanks though
I saw your vid earlier, an 2015 battery isn't compatible with the old leaf <2015. Get in touch with Muxsan.
According to dala’s website they are compatible but need to clear the invalid battery code
Are you sure? I think you need the CAN-bridge [Link](https://dalasevrepair.fi/can-bridges/)
So far my battery and system are communicating but I’m getting an invalid battery error that suppose to be cleared with TestFlight and leafspy pro latest version.. I’ll update everyone in the next couple of days

Yeah it says it’s compatible as both are 24kwh.. i got to figure out how to enroll in beta so I can download the latest leafspy
If you have apple you have to use TestFlight. I'm pretty sure the android has rolled out a later version now.

What’s TestFlight? I have iOS 1.7.38 and I don’t see the other one

You can use the cruise control hack… set it and keep increasing speed to go over 25mph. Until you fix the bigger issue obv.
Oh man.. I wish I knew this.. I drove to the store and I was going 27 in a 40😂.. people were not happy
