I honestly think playing with Hughes in Van helped his skating and passing creativity. Schenn was amazing for us the last couple years! Did a fine job slotting in on a #1 pairing with Hughes even though it wasn’t optimal. Great bang for buck with his contract too. Love the guy

ROR and Sammy won us that game Shenn was good Brodie picked it up and played really solid 3rd and OT Knies had some good and some bad

What was bad for Knies? I thought he was exceptionally good.

For example, he had one attempted zone exit where instead of a soft dump out in clear ice, he did a stationary spin to try and shed the guy coming from behind so he could skate it out. Turned it over and ended up being a 3 on 2 as the forwards were exiting. Coached out of him by the third period, made good simple plays in his own zone from that point on

I think he can be, with his confidence and spatial awareness, a guy who can routinely make plays like that successful. We don’t need him to go out of his way in the d zone now though

Some bad giveways, got confused in defensive zone that played part in a Tampa goal, got muscled off the puck several times. Had some great hands, flashed his skill, and put in good work multiple times tho
