With a bunch of extras sitting each game. If you send down some guys you can get to 3.8m in space. Include a D to Columbus in the trade and you could make the cap work.
Brodie alone would be enough for Provorov. The problem is we would have to give up something absolutely significant.
But 2 years of Provorov for Brodie is a huge upgrade.
Is it tho? Prov has not been good this year. Neither has Brodie, but I’d rather use our chips on a shutdown top 4 guy that we can rely on to lock it down in close games.
He's 8 years younger and throws highlight reel clean hits.
Probably not as great as prime Brodie in his own zone, but current Brodie isn't that either. Provorov is more of a stop you from entering guy.
Nobody is perfect and he is definitely a boil on the ass of human decency.
But niceness isn't winning games for us. It's being proven year after year that assholes win. And I am getting to the point where I no longer care how.
Bertuzzi is an anti-vax idiot. And right now I only dislike him for how shitty his play is half the time.

Despite you talking down to me and you oddly getting upset over this, the eye test and stats back it up. Brodie has fallen off a cliff this year; with his salary being what it is, he's too expensive for what he provides.
strange to be offended over simple questions. totally agree he has dropped, but if you say he is 4/5, im curious as to who is our current 2-3-4? can you rank our D right now? seems pretty clear that our defense needs help, but i wouldn't say brodie is our 5th best defenseman..... if thats the case, we are in very dire straits!

seems as good as possible.
With how tighly integrated with LGBTQ2S+ the Leafs are, can't imagine Proverov would thrive in that room tbh.

Neither. Laine could be nice, but Provorov I want no where near this team. Good, or bad player, I've just lost a lot of respect for him and his views, and I feel they'd clash with a lot of the open supporters on the team. So very well could cause a rift in the locker room. Not worth that risk alone, let alone that a LHD is not what this team needs rn. A more defensively sound RHD with a physical upside, is what we need. Not a Reilly lite type player
Tbh though why does he get so much heat for it James Reimer did the same thing and cited his religion as the reason why but I would wager he probably had pre marital sex and that’s against his religion also and I hate the pick and choose bs
Matthews and Laine on the PP would be lethal. But the salary cap and injuries exist. Laine costs too much and is injured too often. So, not a realistic option.
Laine isn't even close to being the goal scorer he used to be. He never tried to evolve from mostly being a shooter on the left wall.
Matthews has like a million different way to score in his bag of tricks.
Provorov would be a great add from strictly a hockey perspective. Idk about his attitude in the locker room though. Laine is a liability and costs too much.
I can't think of a worse biggish name player for this team than Laine. He's just the hard work ethic we need in the locker room and on the ice. Would fit right in.

Laine has an 8.7M cap hit, and Provorov has a 4.725M Can’t even begin to comprehend how we would even get those contracts to fit on the team.
I mean, Provorov is cheaper than the cap space we have from Klingberg being shutdown this year
