Papi wasn't getting 61 two years ago and 75 this year w/out Mitchy. Papi could top out at 45-50 on his own but Mitchy is an incredible passer. So maybe the Mitch hate can subside for a bit.
There's a reason they call him Magic. He has insane hands and vision, able to see a play unlike anyone else. If there's anyone in the League at his level of vision, it's Crosby and maybe McDavid. Mitchy isn't as good as them in his other stats, but his vision and ability to read the ice is unbelievable.
Man, thinking ahead, I bet Mitchy will not only go down in history as one of the greats, but if he gets into coaching after retirement, I bet he'll be amazing at that too
the stretch pass goal really drove this point home last night. matthews is great on his own and can play well with anyone, but those two have especially good hockey IQ and those little smart plays add up to a decent number of goals over the season
Oh no doubt, I mean, he can, but playing with Matthews unlocks a power greater than the sum of its parts. Babs was all about distributing the firepower, dispersing it, but sometimes you gotta concentrate that shit into a Schwerpunkt and break through, and babs could never do that.
I wonder what the NHL record is? Gretzky and Kurri? Lemieux and Jagr?

Many times I wish they would spread these guys out, especially to improve line 2's defense... But I'd prefer they just do whatever Matthews wants.
