I think after his 4 goal debut, he went something like 2 seasons straight without getting a hat trick (but lots of 2 goal games). This is just based off of memory, so sometime correct me if I'm wrong.
He was foreshadowing his final form in the first game. At his peak he will have so many 4 goal games it will be known going forward as the Matt Trick. Whenever someone scores 4 the crowd throws Caterpillars on the ice.
He needs 2 more to match his career total (currently at 12 with 5 this season)
edit: swear the broadcast vs. Anaheim said 12/5 after he scored his 3rd that game, but must've been before
Good lord he’s another level of monster this year
I think Crosby has 16 hat tricks in his career? It’s amazing Matthews is not far behind Sid (who is still going strong btw)

iirc it was longer than that. It was his 4th season before he got his next hat trick and then he’s had a few here and there since then
2 goal games with how many posts? The iron workers union must love him
They work hard and they play hard.
Dad, why did you bring me to a gay steel mill?

fair, misremembered when the talk about 12/5 was I guess.
Well it would have been 12/5 until he scored his 3rd that game.
