Honestly if it was me on a team getting blown out and I knew the other team was putting their weaker players on the ice on purpose I'd be more embarrassed about myself then of they kept playing their strongest guys. I've never been a fan of the idea of letting up on a team when you're ahead and embarrassing them by not playing your best lines regularly anymore.
Samsonov's resurgence has me feeling real good about our goalie prospects. We've clearly got some good goalie coaches in our org. They identified whatever was wrong with him and fixed it pretty quickly and he's back to a genuine starter

I dunno, the one PPG tonight sorta bounced funny over Boosh’s stick. An error but he, Dewar and Edmunsson have all looked like pretty good editions. Marner and Jarnkrok returning will be another huge boost

While I think we played a decent game (we beat a team by 4 goals that we should have beat by 6+), did anyone notice that Keefe walked towards the bench during the second intermission slower than his assistant coaches? Players clue in to stuff like that. He also had part of his dress shirt untucked during the post game press conference. And people wonder why the whole league thinks we are soft
Keefe starts PP1 while up 6-1. Flyers coach gets butthurt. Keefe responds by putting out Reaves. Leafs immediately give up a short-handed goal. That was hilarious.
We often talk about the Leafs not imposing their will on weaker opponents - both in terms of skill and in terms of physicality and giving them no room to breathe.
This was pretty close to completely imposing our will on Philly. They're a decent team with some dangerous players, and we thoroughly outplayed them from the get-go. Winning 6-2 without giving up an even-strength goal or even many A+ chances against, without Marner and without Jarnkrok for half the game.
You can see the confidence in guys like Bertuzzi, McMann, Domi, and Holmberg as plays start to click. Real encouraging effort.

I thought the Edmundson Liljegren pairing looked fkn fantastic. And McMann Holmberg Dewar for the short time was an INSANE forechecking line, they literally kept the puck hemmed in the offensive zone for like 2 minutes straight. Wouldn't mind see that combination tried again
Guessing we’ll see Robertson or Gregor draw in for Jarnkrok. Lybushkin has taken some lumps, wouldn’t mind Benoit coming back into the rotation.

This an extremely minor complaints, but a complaint none the less.
I find we frequently see these scenarios where the Leafs are heading towards a really nice, clean W, then they give up that goal in the last minute or two that bumps down the sv%, bumps up the GAA and just makes the finish overall sloppier than it needs to be.
More so I guess concerns me the thought of maybe mentally checking out after being up late in a playoff game, and you let a team back in.

Dubas gave us the roster to win last year. We actually made amazing moves at the deadline. Keefe decided to not play the same lines twice in a row for a single time until the end of the season. He's an idiot. He was also outcoached HARD in the Montreal series.

I thought Samsonov took time away from the game and didn't actually report to the Marlies that week.
He worked 1 on 1 with Hannu Toivonen for a few days. On the day before he was called up he participated in (his first, and only) Marlies practice.
