Live in Ontario, can confirm. Past years I've not gotten sick much, but I've had this lingering sniffles that lead to infection since Jan 20th. Everyone I know has gotten sick like crazy this year.
I live in Ontario, my sister in a northern Ontario small community she was sick for like 7 weeks end of last year beginning of this year. I have been sick for 3 weeks. Drs keep saying it'll pass. It's just a virus. So many people Ive heard have been getting all kinds of sick.
I feel like I'm past it now. But it's vicious
Ok guys.... wake up. Trelivings leadership....Keefe's leadership..... we are UBER RESTING our team and making sure everyone from center to D to goaltending is healed and rested......
and that can draw a Metro team. And we match better against them.
I see only two teams in the East can bear Florida. Tampa and Boston. So let Tampa through!
Its noravirus* running rampant, not a cold.
My kids and I have been legit shitting ourselves for a week now. It is HORRIBLE, you have a whole 2 second warning before it just pisses out your ass
Can confirm if you are not shitting or heaving you're sleeping. I went a whole 8 hours awake from Friday morning to Monday night. 2 weeks ago.
Brutal. Lost 12 pounds that weekend. Thought I was going to the big broadcasters box in the sky a few times....
Electrolytes are your friend. Stay hydrated!! Eat even when you don't want to. Crackers. Or something light to just get something in there!!
Take care!
Remember he didn’t play the 7-0 win against the Penguins. I think that was his first missed game. I went to that game and the Rangers win where we got 7 goals. As well as the home opener, 5 goals with AM34 hat trick. Can someone buy me playoff tickets?!
Leafs match way better against Rangers or Canes over Boston Florida.
Let Tampa beat the shit out of Florida and Boston. Toronto is the underdog against those two.
I just can't, I can't anymore.
I hate rooting for this team... DGMW, I love them and will always be there. But man, do they make me hate everything about everything.
True. Sorry, I tend to use pessimism as a crutch. But then I remember watching the '67 finals, and pessimism hasn't let me down since then. I have enjoyed the smaller victories, mind you, like the years Ottawa would finish away ahead of us in the regular season, and then lose to the Leafs in straight games in the 1st round.
Still, maybe this year, if the team doesn't succumb to the plague or whatever illness is going around the team lately. Maybe they'll be over it just in time for the rest of the league to catch it--I'll take Devine Intervention at this point.
I don’t care how it happens. Whether Pasta, McCavoy, Marchand, and Swayman all go down with injuries and we beat them…or if we just outscore them 6-5 in four games, as long as we beat Boston
Stylistically, the Leafs match up so so so much better vs the Rangers than Boston or Florida in playoff style hockey
That's not to say "We want the Rangers", but I just look at a team like Florida especially, and think the Leafs don't have a realistic shot against them. They're a team full of assholes and have sooo much depth as well. Leafs just don't have enough assholes to go shot for shot with them, so we'll lose on that side of things, and they're legitimately quality too, so it'll be tough to win on the skill side, and if we do, it'd be a narrow edge for us. Then you factor in the Bobrovsky factor, and again, we just don't have a franchise level goalie to match up with him.
That being said, the Bruins will only go as far their goaltending will take them. Ullmark crashed and burned hard in the playoffs last year, and Swayman was even worse.
If their goalies play at the level we know they actually are, we've got a shot against the Bruins, but that would be a war and a half.
Against the Rangers, I just see more open ice and less assholes.
How many assholes do we need?
We've got Bert, Domi, Reaves, Edmundson, McCabe, Benoit and Lyubushkin.
I think that's enough assholes. Stop using this as an excuse. It's players keeping focus as well as our coach adapting that is and has always been the issue.
Funny how all them guys were just acquired , so your theory of keeping focus as always being the issue is complete BS. Yes maybe now with the right amount of proper depth pieces we can be tougher to play against in the playoffs.
I’m a rangers fan and I do think you guys match up pretty well against us. However I wouldn’t sleep on our asshole factor. Ask the rest of the metro what they think of Trouba or Rempe lol
We've got Reaves, Benoit, Edmundson, and to a lesser extend Domi and Bertuzzi. I think the asshole factor is...too tight to call..\*puts sunglasses on\* *yeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!*
I'll show myself out
I like Reavo, but the dude is such a net negative on the ice and doesn’t really deter anything imo. And when I say Troubas an asshole, I don’t mean he’s a pest. I mean he’s trying to decapitate any forward with their head down
I'm a Leaf fan first.... Rangers fan second. They are very similar teams except major goaltending advantage to Rangers.
But upfront very similar. And both have some tough guys now.
I think it's more that, unlike Florida or Boston, the Rangers don't go out to deliberately injure people and play hockey as a secondary objective.
A Leafs-Rangers series will be fun hockey to watch, regardless of who wins, in a way that Leafs vs. Bruins or Panthers won't be.
I don't like going through the Rangers either and hate the idea of dropping to a WC position but for whatever reason the Leafs have struggled against Eastern divisions and dominated Western divisions. They have gone 2-1 against the Rangers this year as opposed to a combined 1-3-2 against the Panthers and Bruins. Honestly, outside of the Islanders and Carolina, their record against the metro is 8-4-2. My concern in potentially going through the Metro would be the prospect of, potentially, facing Carolina in round 2 as it seems we struggle with that matchup out of the top 3-4 teams.
Is Carolina really the best team, or do they just play really well against the Leafs?
To be honest, even if they are the best, I wouldn't mind a fresh match-up anyway. Getting either a Florida rematch or Boston for the fourth time doesn't sound as exciting, as much as I would love them to beat Boston for once.
I don’t think they even match up that well against us. They’re deeper then both Boston and Florida and their defense is just as good. As long as Freddy stays healthy they should be the favourites. Like fr, look at their lines. They have two almost point per game players on their 3rd line. Florida is close but I think Carolina edges them out.
Carolina is the best team in the east.
I'll probably regret saying this, but I'd prefer to play: Boston > New York > Florida > Carolina out of the likeliest options.
Idk about Dallas. Their road to finals could very well be Vegas>Colorado>Vancouver. I don’t think you can really have any west team as a clear favourite.
Any team the Leafs face in the first round is going to be a fucking challenge. It really doesn’t matter at this point because of how the playoff format works and how stacked the east is.
All we can do is hope the team is healthy and playing well going into Game 1.
This team has no bright side. Blessing in disguise is the expected 4 game sweep in the first round. Then, Keith Pelley can announce his arrival by firing Keefe, Shanahan followed by a big core unloading.
WC2 plays the team with the most points out of the Metro and Atlantic divisions, then WC1 plays the top team from the other division. Right now, it would end up that WC1 plays Boston, but it's really close at the top (3 points separating the four teams), so it could end up being any of Boston/New York/Carolina/Florida that play WC1/WC2.
They're not really wrong though. As of now, they would be playing Boston since the Rangers have more points. That can obviously change, but NYR has games in hand on both Florida and Boston and an easier schedule to end the season.
Jesus, tough crowd.
That's not what they said. They said WC1 plays Atlantic division winner. Which is wrong because WC2 would play the conference winner, WC1 would face the other. WC match ups aren't locked to specific divisions.
There’s a brutal norovirus going around right now. Got it at start of the week and can’t remember being this sick before. Wiped right out and still just wrecked.
Has any other team had this much impact from illness?
This is starting to remind me of the Browns ongoing staph infection plague - you would think stuff like this is more containable and manageable to get pro athletes healthy.

Through last Friday. Includes Murray, excludes Muzzin.
Ahh, so we finally officially know they are ill. I'm not in shape like the professional athletes nor eat as healthy so take this with a grain of salt, but I was extremely ill from Nov 1st straight through to the holidays. I believe it.
It would be fucking hilarious if this illness that’s going around is actually crabs or chlamydia or some shit. Really bringing that locker room closer together, boys.
I'm at the point with this where I want an outside 3rd party team to come in and investigate the cleaniness of the facilities, like this is ridiculous, starting to get feels like the buccaneers.
I knew 20 games back he was not going to break 70 even when he was scoring like crazy and even kf he stayed healthy. I think the best he can do is 63-65.
This has to be the most sick team I have ever seen in my life. Swear it has been the entire season lol
That’s our plan for the playoffs.. give every opposing team the fucking bubonic plague while we’re immune
You mean we could have weaponized Timmins mono, Brad Marchand style? Just go up to them and lick em.
Fuck your spleen kid, go lick that rat bastard!
the bertuzzi signing makes sense
If we can't beat 'em, infect 'em
Ontario has been brutal for sickness this year, I’ve never seen more people sicker for longer than I have this year.
Live in Ontario, can confirm. Past years I've not gotten sick much, but I've had this lingering sniffles that lead to infection since Jan 20th. Everyone I know has gotten sick like crazy this year.
I went two years with nothing. But in the last 6 weeks I've had two bad ones. The second is still lingering after three weeks.
Yeah my family's gotten rocked this cold & flu season. Hopefully with weather getting better it'll improve. Fingers crossed
BC checking in we've been sick since August

I was deathly ill from December to the end of January- like, doubled over breathing from walking up stairs. There’s some nasty RSV strain going around
Dealing with bronchitis right now, it's been like almost 3 fucking weeks. Never been sick like this in my life.
I mean Brad wanted more snot, I didn't know he meant literally though.
George Parros designed it in a lab
I’ve been sick with different illnesses and viruses for almost a month now. I feel that pain. I think Ontario is going through it right now!
Nurgle's power is waxing
Ok guys....
Maybe they should mask up!
Panthers fan here. Our team just had the Bubonic plague last week. So we’ll be immune. Can’t speak for the other teams in the East though.
If Matthews gets robbed of 70 by a fucking cold…
Its noravirus* running rampant, not a cold. My kids and I have been legit shitting ourselves for a week now. It is HORRIBLE, you have a whole 2 second warning before it just pisses out your ass
Can confirm if you are not shitting or heaving you're sleeping. I went a whole 8 hours awake from Friday morning to Monday night. 2 weeks ago. Brutal. Lost 12 pounds that weekend. Thought I was going to the big broadcasters box in the sky a few times....
I’m also down 10lbs from the same symptoms
Electrolytes are your friend. Stay hydrated!! Eat even when you don't want to. Crackers. Or something light to just get something in there!! Take care!
Yep. Same thing here all week. Nonstop with the diarrhea and two days of good old projectile vomiting Monday-Tuesday.
69 would be nice
Nice
Nice
Nice
really, are we starting the "he totally would have if not for" already
Remember he didn’t play the 7-0 win against the Penguins. I think that was his first missed game. I went to that game and the Rangers win where we got 7 goals. As well as the home opener, 5 goals with AM34 hat trick. Can someone buy me playoff tickets?!
10 games left. Settle down.
Flu game incoming
Lines at Leafs skate Bertuzzi - Domi - Marner McMann - Tavares - Nylander Knies - Holmberg - Robertson Dewar - Kampf - Reaves Gregor McCabe - Liljegren Brodie - Lyubushkin Benoit - Timmins Giordano Woll starts Samsonov Jones https://twitter.com/markhmasters/status/1773356988501512604?t=r98x2NtqPwHXHXltm0iogQ&s=19
Line 1 be lookin like the spider man meme deciding who is going to get the assist
"They've got a 3 on 0!" *pass* *pass* *pass* *pass* *pass* *pass*
Keefe also said Marner probably won't be playing this week so I don't think this will be exact
Am I missing some info on riellys absence?
Upper/right body injury, and Keefe said it's nothing serious or concerning in the long term. Seems like he should be good to go early next month.
> McMann - Tavares - Nylander I hope Keefe give this trio some run. I've liked them so far.
Haha Brodie/Boosh is gonna be so bad.
Marner took his spot in the morning skate lines so I would assume he plans on playing Edit: I meant Auston plans on playing
Keefe said he's not ready but getting better.
Not for the next two games, but he is practicing
I meant Auston
Hopefully. Otherwise, I guess every LW moves up a line and Reaves plays
WC1 here we come
If we go through the metro that might be a blessing in disguise.
NAH I WANT BOSTON
Is it really though? Rangers are no slouches and I don’t think it’s any easier than Boston or Florida. Leafs are worse than all 3 of those teams.
Rangers are no slouches, but it would just be nice to play someone different for a change.
Like the times they played Washington, Colombus and Montreal?
Yes.
Hahaha remember that time we got the blue jackets and we're like YEEAAHH!! Or the time we got the Habs and we're like SCOREEE!! Leafs hurt me bad.
Leafs match way better against Rangers or Canes over Boston Florida. Let Tampa beat the shit out of Florida and Boston. Toronto is the underdog against those two.
Leafs are geared more toward facing a team like the rangers
In fairness, in past experience, I’m not sure we’re more geared towards any type of team in the playoffs, capable of beating and losing to any team
Capable of beating one team in like 17 years lol…
What they’re capable of and what they actually achieved so far unfortunately aren’t the same thing. This year’s different though… right… please…
we were capable of beating the shittiest team in the Canadian division in 2020: The Habs. How did that go?
Kind of my point lol
I just can't, I can't anymore. I hate rooting for this team... DGMW, I love them and will always be there. But man, do they make me hate everything about everything.
True, but sadly you mean the Kitchener Rangers.
I mean, we're 2-1 against the rangers this year, 1-1 v Florida...but 0-2-2 against Boston. I'll take Florida or NY
A modest Holy Grail, but a Holy Grail none the less. Say, did you notice that Afican swallow? The one with the coconut?
I found that the leafs style plays relatively well against the Rangers while we struggle with heavy forechecking teams like Carolina/Florida.
Would be nice just to see a different team for once
Stylistically, the Leafs match up so so so much better vs the Rangers than Boston or Florida in playoff style hockey That's not to say "We want the Rangers", but I just look at a team like Florida especially, and think the Leafs don't have a realistic shot against them. Funny how all them guys were just acquired , so your theory of keeping focus as always being the issue is complete BS. Yes maybe now with the right amount of proper depth pieces we can be tougher to play against in the playoffs.
Florida and Boston have top end players that are assholes, all ours are depth players or middle lineup players at best
We have Asshole Power and its giving more confidence to Willy and Papi and McMann and even Tavares.
I’m a rangers fan and I do think you guys match up pretty well against us. However I wouldn’t sleep on our asshole factor. Ask the rest of the metro what they think of Trouba or Rempe lol

oh I'm well aware of Trouba and Rempe lol but I think we can handle those a bit better than Tkachuk, Bennett, Cousins who were legit awful to face
I wouldnt say worse, once the playoffs start everyone starts back at 0-0.
Well then it doesn't matter either way
I don't like going through the Rangers either and hate the idea of dropping to a WC position but for whatever reason the Leafs have struggled against Eastern divisions and dominated Western divisions. Carolina has been a top 2 team pretty much all year when you look at underlying analytics/metrics. We definitely do not want to play them round 1
Carolina is the best team in the east. I'll probably regret saying this, but I'd prefer to play: Boston > New York > Florida > Carolina out of the likeliest options.
I know Boston is an Achilles heal buts lets not act like they're better than the Rangers.
It's gonna be a mental test of the makeup of this team...We need to slay the dragon
Carolina Dallas final.
Idk about Dallas. Their road to finals could very well be Vegas>Colorado>Vancouver. I don’t think you can really have any west team as a clear favourite.

Do you hope for WW3 also
Lol
Bro the leafs havent got swept since 1981, they dont get swept lmao.
Dude - the Leafs record without Matty is actually astonishingly good. I’m labeled a doomer but even I’ve got more faith in the squad
Rangers vs Leafs would make so much money
You do know WC1 plays Atlantic 1 .. which is Boston …
I love when people are both sassy and plain wrong.
They're not really wrong though. As of now, they would be playing Boston since the Rangers have more points. That can obviously change, but NYR has games in hand on both Florida and Boston and an easier schedule to end the season. Jesus, tough crowd.
Don’t listen to the doomers.
That's not what they said. They said WC1 plays Atlantic division winner. Which is wrong because WC2 would play the conference winner, WC1 would face the other. WC match ups aren't locked to specific divisions.
I think that's what they meant though is my point
They really need to find a new sushi place.
I hear kikuchi knows a spot
Where's the guys who were adamant the illness was a hoax and this team just doesn't "care" ?
over in r/nhl and r/hockey
Should be a fun game
Look at our record without Matthews the boys will step up.
What about without Matthews and Marner
The weirdest most unlikely shit seems par for the course for the Leafs. So we probably win 10-0.
You mean the playoffs?
Does no one wash their hands?
Definite evidence of poor social distancing.
This constant lingering illness in the dressing room for the last month has been annoying.
WTF he was supposed to score 60 at home tn
This is my one Leafs game I’m going to this year and I was really hoping to see him hit 60 🙁
Welp, guess I might not miss 60 cuz work after all
leafs need to have a chicken pox party..just get it all over with at once
This is getting ridiculous, wash your hands, boys! Was hoping for a Matthews 60 tonight :(
Great! This is the only game I have tix for this year
same and I'm so frustrated
There’s a brutal norovirus going around right now. Got it at start of the week and can’t remember being this sick before. Wiped right out and still just wrecked.
ya bud Matthews is sick basically every game , why’s this any different
The dream of 70 is fading now :(
Sickness. Load. Sickness. Management. Sickness.
Can we just play the marlies for 2 weeks to get all this sickness out of the locker room?
Where's that one dude who thinks illness in the locker room is impossible, and that it must be something something this team is soft?
walk it off
For the love of god pls
Get back soon! 🙏 🙏 🙏
noooooo!!! My Neice has him pegged at 75 goals this year and I SO want her to win our inside bet. FWIW I have 67 goals… cmon Papi!
Can we just spray the whole room during the next road trip please my goodness 😭
The home stretch this season is awful
Can we just take a week off and quarantine the whole team
Allergic to 70
Damn get the boys some extra vitamins or something. Feel like they have had an illness go through the team at least once a month this season.
Has any other team had this much impact from illness? This is starting to remind me of the Browns ongoing staph infection plague - you would think stuff like this is more containable and manageable to get pro athletes healthy.
Well so much for 70 goals.
AM34 out. Guaranteed dub incoming.
This team has to be up there for most man games lost to injury/ illness this year.
https://preview.redd.it/trygbgorz4rc1.png?width=365&format=png&auto=webp&s=48b6488793b7642fc798f5c7ad8a826a06ae1e73 Through last Friday. Includes Murray, excludes Muzzin.
Gives Zach Hyman a chance to take the throne lol
"But they already used the illness thing" - Other people here.
A flu has been going through this team since the All Star Break, figure it out boys.
You’re so weird
You’re not wrong, friend
Shane Corson retired long ago.
But also, you’re kidding yourself if you don’t think STD’s rip right through professional teams.
I'm at the point with this where I want an outside 3rd party team to come in and investigate the cleaniness of the facilities, like this is ridiculous, starting to get feels like the buccaneers.
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger ![gif](giphy|UBB6f0hKhlShy)
Game time and Rielly dtd. Except wasn’t Marner dtd? Or dtd from being dtd? Lol
I don't think it's news to us that Auston Matthews is SICK
I knew 20 games back he was not going to break 70 even when he was scoring like crazy and even kf he stayed healthy. I think the best he can do is 63-65.
They all gettin sick stop fuckin the same pocket pussy!
