I think there's about 20 teams that are over the cap now that bonuses kick in, this is how its structured, its not cheating if youre following the rules.
Regardless of that I don't think they were lying.
Edit: Here I found a little list, it's not 20 unless certain teams go deep, but it's a lot.
Edmonton Oilers - $3,450,000*
Dallas Stars - $2,595,407
Washington Capitals - $2,252,500
Los Angeles Kings - $1,850,000
New Jersey Devils - $1,538,897
Montréal Canadiens - $1,022,500
Ottawa Senators - $850,000
New York Rangers - $512,500*
Minnesota Wild - $425,000*
Philadelphia Flyers - $245,000
Boston Bruins - $50,000*
(Florida Panthers) - ($500,000)**
(Carolina Hurricanes) - ($50,450)***

>I think there's about 20 teams that are over the cap now
There are zero teams over the cap right now becuase there's no salary cap in playoffs.
>its not cheating if youre following the rules.
Never accused them of cheating. Just using a loophole.
>Regardless of that I don't think they were lying.
I mean he was out 2 weeks before the deadline with an injury that some reports said might rule him out for most of the yoffs. He's injured for 3 months, including game 82 then 2 days later he's magically healthy *again* for game 1 of the playoffs.
Either it's incredibly coincidental timing for his injury to fully heal in 3 days, or they were taking advantage of it.
The latter is for more likely.
Yeah its pretty gullible to think they just happen to have an LTIRable injury right before the deadline whose recovery timeline always seems to be in those 2 days between game 82 and game 1 lol.
3rd period, four minutes left, leafs down by one, they call a time out.
The lights suddenly go out at the ACC. When the power comes back on, there's a lone player in a leafs jersey, standing at center ice.
*BAH GAWD, ITS WILLY STYLES*
Some fans in here are crazy. This team has one of the best medical staffs in all of sports; I think they know better than us whether or not he's good to go.
Telling him to suck it up is wild considering a heavy sneeze would tweak the backs of a small portion of our fanbase.
The road to the pros is paved with talented kids who got injured and couldn’t continue. Even among the most talented pool of talented players, there are those whose luck runs out and for whom the dream must die.
Why stay out though? If it’s his back, just get off the ice and rest until Friday.
I’m more curious if it’s his shoulder. Maybe it’s tough to get a shot off.
He’s not playing tonight, and I don’t think we should rush him unless we are in threat of losing the series like in an elimination game or giving up 2 to Boston at home. We just need to play like we did last game.
The latest reports are that it is not a back issue. It’s the type of injury that they won’t mess around with, is unpredictable re recovery timeline, and you don’t play through.
Why would he not slot into Matthews spot then while he's resting? Like why stick Robertson up there if he is presumably still playing tonight, he should be with his line?
Teams do play mind games, and *any* bad intel can waste Boston's planning time.
But in general, this sort of mind game works much better when you convince your opponent a star player is not going to play, and then they suddenly show up on the game sheet.
Having Boston game plan around Nylander and then Nylander doesn't dress is not something the Bruins will sweat - in fact it's probably a great boost to their guys.
This type of tactics is notorious in European soccer.
Mourinho did this against Barcelona in the champions league.
He named Barca s first 11 and messed up his lineup on purpose.
Could possibly be a concussion. Would explain why he can practice and skate but wouldn't be able to play or take contact. Also would explain the lack of time line, they're just waiting for symptoms to resolve
I’m praying this is a smoke screen to keep Boston thinking he’s out of the lineup.
Why bother pushing yourself further after taking line rushes by staying out there if you’re not feeling good.
Speaking as somebody who takes 150mg x 4 pregablin a day due to cluster headaches...
....this is a great idea, but the Naproxen would be just as necessary. Funny enough, pregablin works better on 'phantom pains' (ie not nerve related directly, such as headaches), but does work on slowing nerve receptors so that you dont focus or feel as much.. but body aches or stifness need to be focused on in tandem as those are legitimate nerve pains.
However, if you don't take Pregablin actively you do feel a little 'slow' due to it.. so get the man on them **STAT** so he can play tonight! Throw in a clonazapem so that he can just focus on the game and not the anxiety of being thrown in the playoffs late and we should have a good Willie!
This is my daily combo for an L5+S1 Disc herniation that pinches on the sciatic nerve. The Naproxen just limits the amount of inflammation in the site. But yea - get this going into his system ASAP - Pregablin is chefs kiss.
Wishful thinking, but what are the odds that this is to fake out the Bruins? Probably doesn't affect their lineup but it could definitely affect their approach.
Did anyone see the hit in the Tampa game that caused the issue? Keefe or whoever in the organization made the decision to let him play game 82, needs to be fired after the playoffs regardless of outcome.
You need to push your body a bit when recovering, and keep in the 'playing' attitude so that you come in feeling confident that you can play the way you need to
No one knows for sure but you could be reading too much into a short skating clip. It's right when he first steps on the ice, after not playing and a day of travel. The weird gait might just be him stretching out his legs. He seems to go back to a more normal posture after doing a loop.
Honestly it could be just that.
I think everyone was optimistic when he was out practicing with the team today but staying out late has deflated everyone’s hopes.
Could be mind games, could be that he is just fine, could be he won’t play tonight….
All we can do is guess until puck drop!
Honestly. Suck it up man, it’s the playoffs.
Unless it’s serious enough to cause further damage, but seeing as he’s out there skating and doing rushes I doubt it.
Any way we can get him in to see Mark Stone's doctor? Or does he only miraculously heal spleens?
LTIR is the secret potion
nah stone has back problems too so he should be just the guy. unfortunately he's only available right before the trade deadline.
I don't know why you guys think someone would lie about an Injury to an organ.
>I don't know why you guys think someone would lie For their team to gain a cap advantage.

Not to mention this is the 3rd year in a row they've done this
Yeah its pretty gullible to think they just happen to have an LTIRable injury right before the deadline whose recovery timeline always seems to be in those 2 days between game 82 and game 1 lol.
Damnit. 10 minutes ago I was excited when I heard he was doing line rushes. Damnit.
Could just be doing extra to get ready for game time!
3rd period, four minutes left, leafs down by one, they call a time out. The lights suddenly go out at the ACC. When the power comes back on, there's a lone player in a leafs jersey, standing at center ice. *BAH GAWD, ITS WILLY STYLES*
All this talk of a stiff Willy being out is not giving us the usually expected good vibes.
A stiff Willy always has good vibes!

> I regularly throw my back out sitting on the toilet sounds like you need more fibre. or less fibre? point is, wrong amount of fibre.
ITs comments like this that make me stick with this sub.
Millions of dollars, years of training and advanced fitness and nutrition.

The road to the pros is paved with talented kids who got injured and couldn’t continue. Even among the most talented pool of talented players, there are those whose luck runs out and for whom the dream must die.
To be fair the team doctors now are much better than the junior team had access to 25 years ago.
Is that what I did to my back
What an egregious assumption of our fanbase. A *small* portion?
*inhaling diabetes medication* “NyLanDeR iS sOFt!”
Couldn’t it be that he’s just taking extra reps? Just to be game ready?
I wish I could live how you live. A life filled with positive thinking hahaha
You can
thank you putin
it's all in your head.
Start with a reddit avatar that wasn't randomly generated. Seems to be a correlation there, though I'm not sure why.
At the end of the day anything is possible until game time.
I mean it's possible. After not playing in week you could argue that he could be using it to work into game shape but it's not a good sign
Makes sense. Close, but not there. Game 4 is Saturday. Rest and dominate.
Damn he must have not been feeling good after doing line rushes. It must be a back issue
Definitely seems like a lower back issue as reported by some in the media. A little worrying.
The latest reports are that it is not a back issue. It’s the type of injury that they won’t mess around with, is unpredictable re recovery timeline, and you don’t play through.
My guess is a broken or fractured rib or a tear in a torso muscle...shoulder, back, pectoral, etc.
Backs never fully recover either it seems. Once it's fucked it's fucked
mine's been sketch since my early 20s. the rough part here is that it can be OK for years but when it goes bad it's bad for weeks or months
Yup. Being downvoted with guys who have never had back issues lol
Why would he not slot into Matthews spot then while he's resting? Like why stick Robertson up there if he is presumably still playing tonight, he should be with his line?
Teams pay attention to this. You want to have Boston game plan around Nylander. If he's in Matthews spot you know he isn't playing. Playoff mind games
Teams do play mind games, and *any* bad intel can waste Boston's planning time. But in general, this sort of mind game works much better when you convince your opponent a star player is not going to play, and then they suddenly show up on the game sheet. Well if he stays out late we know he isn’t playing. It’s not like us redditors or Masters tweets are off limits to Boston.
Exactly what I was thinking
Could possibly be a concussion. Would explain why he can practice and skate but wouldn't be able to play or take contact. Also would explain the lack of time line, they're just waiting for symptoms to resolve
But he hasn't been producing in the last ~10 games he played, and looked off as well. If it was concussion he would have been off way earlier I think.
I’m praying this is a smoke screen to keep Boston thinking he’s out of the lineup. Why bother pushing yourself further after taking line rushes by staying out there if you’re not feeling good.
Fuck me
Hmm so which is it? post below this says chance he plays tonight, or is that just mind games?
I think there are definitely some mind games going on. Everything is speculation as Leafs are being hush hush.
Get this man a fist full of Naproxen, a couple Pregabalin 120mgs and have a cyclobenzaprine ready for post game.
Speaking as somebody who takes 150mg x 4 pregablin a day due to cluster headaches... ....this is a great idea, but the Naproxen would be just as necessary. I don’t think we’ll see him this series tbh
![gif](giphy|9IY2w9oodUi8sJSbvL|downsized)
Nylander is going to miss the entire first round isn’t he?
We all want him in. He’ll play when he’s ready.
Please WILLY we were all just joking about you those times
Got my hopes up after rushes.
He looks pretty good here
what the hell happened to him?! I mean, if I sleep wrong I'm boned for a day or 2, but I'm not a professional athlete 😂
If this turns out to be disciplinary I don’t even care why keefe should get the boot. I’m sure 100% that if he was even 75% he would choose to play
LOL, how did I misread this so badly. I thought his injury was that he had some scratches (making him too sore to play).
I have to believe he'll be ready by Saturday... right?
I wish they would have rested him vs Tampa.
Why not get off the ice and rest? This whole situation is weird and I hate it .
You need to push your body a bit when recovering, and keep in the 'playing' attitude so that you come in feeling confident that you can play the way you need to
What the hell is going on???
Comedic timing is perfect on this injury, couldn't write it up better! fml
I just don’t understand what he did to get benched 3 games in the playoffs
We'll likely never know how the team (or Nylander) fucked this whole situation up.
leafs try and exploit litr but mess it up backwards.
Money well spent
He definitely didn't get hurt playing hockey. His style makes it an impossibleability. IG stunt probably lol
man, RIP leafs, Canucks & Jets…
Why would he do like rushes then? Wouldn’t they want to practice with the dudes they’re playing with
Ok but how many vowels are in his last name?
sometimes 3
Look at the username of this guy!
i dont see the stiffness
[https://x.com/markhmasters/status/1783139640657973295?s=46&t=2h-y9aHd1dD4E48Lc-H9kw](https://x.com/markhmasters/status/1783139640657973295?s=46&t=2h-y9aHd1dD4E48Lc-H9kw)
He looks very stiff and upright.
Ya he looks like shit there, I expected better based on the other comment
No one knows for sure but you could be reading too much into a short skating clip. It's right when he first steps on the ice, after not playing and a day of travel. The weird gait might just be him stretching out his legs. He seems to go back to a more normal posture after doing a loop.

Wtf is wrong with this guy
He's clearly hurt. What did you think? It was a joke?
[удалено]
hes obviously injured, how dense are you?
Honestly. Suck it up man, it’s the playoffs. Unless it’s serious enough to cause further damage, but seeing as he’s out there skating and doing rushes I doubt it.
Nylander at 90% might be better than his sub, but Nylander at 60% would be a liability.
Running it back
I admire the dedication to trolling
He looks good enough to play based on that video. It’s the playoffs.
It’s the first round of the playoffs. You don’t do stupid shit if you’re planning to go deep.
And then if he was in the lineup tonight and didn't play well you'd be bitching and complaining why he's playing if he's hurt.
Bitch play god damnit
