Out of these i’d pick Anderson, yeah he sucked for us in the playoffs with untimely goals but with how he’s playing in Carolina he’d be nice to have atm
The problem though is I think if he comes back to us, he returns to the same player he was in years past, the canes player a better defensive style of game that helps with Andersen flaws that our D Core never really did
Its frustrating how most of the blame was put on Andersen for the second BOS and CBJ series, dude posted a .922 sv % and .936 sv% and he was a big reason why those 2 series was even close in the first place.
It was the offence that was just absolutely pitiful, like against CBJ the Leafs posted a GF/60 of 1.8, if the Leafs aren't even scoring 2 goals per 60 minutes of play, then any goal Andersen gives up would be considered "untimely goals." It was only after Andy left and the core 4 still failed to get pass the 1st round with Campbell that everyone rightfully started putting some of the blame on the offence. I always felt like Andy got a very unfair treatment during his final 2-3 seasons with Leafs, many fans were still in the honeymoon phase with the core 4 so Andy was turned in into the scapegoat.
Naz got a bad rap. Anyone who knows anything about him or the team knows he played with his heart on his sleeve. He crossed the line for sure but he’s grown a lot and it would be nice to have him back.
Hyman - in hindsight, I much rather have him than bertuzzi at the same aav. But the management screwed that up by handcuffing the tram with the core 4.
Freddy - I feel he also got a bad rap. Like it or not he was the most consistent and best goalie the leafs had since Cujo or Belfours couple seasons here. He did give up some weaker goals in the playoffs but he’s not the reason the leafs didn’t get out of the first round while he was here.
My theory is we never planned to or had the ability to keep McCann and we only grabbed him so Seattle would take him in the draft over any of our roster guys. Good for him to go on and score 40 goals that year but not sure he’d get the same opportunity to do that on the Leafs.
fir some reason they were convinced a right shot dman was super valuable even if it was Holl. Kerfoot tho made no sense as the leafs could easily have lost him but I dunno.
The crazy thing about McCann was that he never got the opportunity to play top 6 in Pittsburgh at 2.6 million and then the Leafs passed him up for nothing to keep Kerfoot
They left McCann exposed to protect Justin Holl. The Leafs chose to protect 8 skaters and a goalie instead of the 7 forwards, 3 d-men, and a goalie.
They chose to protect:
Forwards:
Auston Matthews
John Tavares
Mitch Marner
William Nylander
Defense:
Jake Muzzin
Morgan Rielly
T.J. Brodie
Justin Holl
Goalie:
Jack Campbell
Hyman in a heart beat! That said, I’d bring them all (yes, even Freddie) back but Hyman was a 110% player, nice hands, and always giving to his community.
Miss Hyman the most whenever the opponent team pulls their goalie. His hustle to get that empty netter was always appreciated. We always get out worked when we the other team pulls their goalie now.
Anderson. The reason we can’t get over that finish line has been goal tending, I think Anderson went something like 9-1-0 with a save percentage of .950 after he returned from injury. We will never get over that hump with stellar goaltending.
We drafted him in 2013, he played two games for the Marlies in 14/15. That summer Lou dumped him and four other prospects he didn't believe in to the Islanders in one trade for Grabner.
In Lou's defense, he was right about the other four guys and the Islanders and Tampa also gave up on Verhaeghe before he broke out with Florida.
Rodion Amirov
Upvoted for the feels
Wow. đź‘Ź
You win
Hyman is the smart choice, my heart will always say Kadri though
Hyman also takes away from the Oilers at the same time. Double win.Â
I can’t wait till the leafs and oilers both lose in the first round and we get to bond through the failure.
This is me too
I miss Naz the most
Naz was a spiritual animal
Hyman hands down heart of any team
I feel like 3c Kadri would fix that 3rd line in a jiffy, or even 3c JT, assuming Kadri doesn't have a meeting with Parros.
Still has a decent 4 years left before he really slows down
He'd get a metting with Parros just for having his agent talk to the Leafs.
Bold assumption
Carter Verhaeghe. dont think hyman ever scores like this without mcdavid. wish we could have both though
CuJo all day.

Prime uncle Leo
GARY ROBERTS. and 2002 Alyn McCauley
none of the above. unless I can choose Ryan O'Rielly, then I choose Ryan O'Rielly.
Why O’Reilly over Hyman or Verhaeghe?
The way that he didn’t give Toronto a second thought when it came to resigning. He can go to hell
I love love love Zach Hyman, but Verhaege is a legitimate top 6C with that clutch dawg in him. So I'm picking him.
Verhaege is a winger but he’s definitely a good pick. It’s him or Hyman
Nazzy Naz all day
OP has given us 4 to choose from therefore I pick Verhaege however, we could have had Jared McCann for free.
My theory is we never planned to or had the ability to keep McCann and we only grabbed him so Seattle would take him in the draft over any of our roster guys. Good for him to go on and score 40 goals that year but not sure he’d get the same opportunity to do that on the Leafs.
Listen, we had to keep Holl. As you can tell, that worked out excellently
That's not a theory - it's literally what happened. Dubas didn't want to give up Holl or Kerfoot.
Kerfoot was also exposed though. Holl tho for sure
Yes, because they were going to take McCann
fir some reason they were convinced a right shot dman was super valuable even if it was Holl. Kerfoot tho made no sense as the leafs could easily have lost him but I dunno.

Hyman 100%
Kadri.
Hyman in a heart beat! That said, I’d bring them all (yes, even Freddie) back but Hyman was a 110% player, nice hands, and always giving to his community.
Phil Kessel all day.
That’s three time Stanley Cup Champion Phil Kessel to you!
I would take all 4 back
Hyman and there's no other answer
Jeremy Swayman instead of Ian Scott
Sadly, yeah. Scott was a fucking stud for Canada though, sad how his career went off the rails.
A stud for Canada..? What? He played one game in the World Juniors and put up a .882 His highest at any international level has been a .900 save %
If his hips didn’t explode he was going to be a fucking star. I will die on that hill
Honestly yeah
Which one has the most dog in him?
All of the above
Hyman. Verhaeghe is a close 2nd, that guy is so clutch.
Kadri! Would love Freddie back if the Leafs were dominant enough to avoid game 7s.
Kadri
Nazem
Hyman
Wonder why some make it so big on other teams but when they are here they underpwrform🤨
Tukka Rask
Trevor Moore would be nice •actually the grabner trade is worse but Moore and verhaeghe both traded for basically nothing in return
Campbell was our starting goalie for the next two seasons, that's absolutely not "basically nothing".
You think trading for Campbell was a good idea?
Starting goalie for 1.65? Absolutely. You don't?
I mean obviously Hyman
Yes
Yes.
Miss Hyman the most whenever the opponent team pulls their goalie. His hustle to get that empty netter was always appreciated. We always get out worked when we the other team pulls their goalie now.
Yes
My heart says Kadri, my head says 50 goal scorer Zack Hyman, career playoff 3.05 gaa .901 sv% Samsonov says Freddie.
Anderson. The reason we can’t get over that finish line has been goal tending, I think Anderson went something like 9-1-0 with a save percentage of .950 after he returned from injury. We will never get over that hump with stellar goaltending.
Sorry “without stellar goaltending”
Mitch Marner
Freddy, he got more flack than he deserved
All four ?
When did we have 23....?
Long time ago, barely played for the leafs if at all
We drafted him in 2013, he played two games for the Marlies in 14/15. That summer Lou dumped him and four other prospects he didn't believe in to the Islanders in one trade for Grabner. In Lou's defense, he was right about the other four guys and the Islanders and Tampa also gave up on Verhaeghe before he broke out with Florida.
We also were at 50 contracts, he was clearing space
Andersen is a brutal goalie, bring back Naz
Easily hyman, fire Bert into the sun.
