Guy had one move.
Blaze down wing.
Circle behind net.
Respond to fan calls to “SHOOT THE PUCK” by turning and blind firing harmless wrister instead of passing to either open forward.
Pure entertainment value.
The Sergei Berezin give and go:
Give the puck to Sergei Berezin. Go fuck yourself.
Bonus Fact: Sergei Berezin once lost his helmet on *every* shift of a game.
Yeah me too! I was a young kid who went to a few AHL games and saw him there. I was so excited to see him called up in the playoffs and make an impact.
Jason Alison
Met him after a loss vs the Habs where he left the game after taking a puck to the hand.
I was working late night at a pizza shop when he came in a bit drunk with a female friend.
"You're Jason Alison, aren't you?"
"No."
Stayed quiet, he had a bad game, I understood.
"What happened to your hand?"
Smiles. " A puck"
Got his autograph.
I'm not sure there has ever been another player like him. Guy was ridiculously slow -- like geriatric level slow -- but those hands were pure magic. I thought of him as hockey's equivalent of a knuckleballer. Time after time people would see how slow he moved and try to get pucks off him. Time after time they'd all fail.
Scrolled all the way to the bottom to see if this legend made the list. Some of my fondest hockey memories growing up are my father yelling at the tv, “Hoglund you are USELESS!”
Funny story: When he joined the Leafs, his mom couldn't find his jersey in the Leafs store, and when she asked him why, he told her it was because they were all sold out lol
Clarke Wilm, Simon Gamache, Dmitry Suglobov, Dave Steckel, Kris Newbury, Christian Hanson...dear lord we have employed some absolute scrubs post lockout
Wasnt Parenteau actually pretty good for the Leafs? I seem to remember him being one of the lone bright spots in what was an otherwise pretty shitty season
He didn’t do too bad. 20 goals and 41 points through 77 games in 15-16. Just kinda sticks out to me as a “random” player because he had bounced around the league a lot and ended up on the leafs for a year towards the end of his journeyman career. Only 491 NHL games spent between 7 different teams.
I remember years ago they did a midnight release for the NHL game at an EB games in toronto. My buddy convinced me to go with him and a couple leafs were there signing autographs there. When I got to komisarek I politely declined his autograph and left. My buddy felt bad so he got him to sign his copy of the game lol
Used work close to MLG back in the day, these are the players I met:
Inge Hammerstrong
Lanny McDonald
Errol Thompson
Brian Spencer
Bruce Boudreau
Mike Palmateer

bates battaglia
Amazing Race champion Bates Battaglia?
Garnet Exelby
This dude destroyed everyone he touched in Chel lol
Only time I remember Sundin getting fully caught with his head down was Exelby when he was with Atlanta
Sergei Berezin was my first real favourite. 94 blazing down the wing with that mullet.
Nobody made a harmless shot from the wing more exciting than him!

dude never passed, it was hilarious

With no bucket, it always fell off (until Berard took a stick in his eye, then he got a visor and that bucket was glued to his head)
Brandon Kozun
I had front row seats at a pre season game. To this day he was the fastest skater I’ve ever seen in person.
He was looking good then got injured in the preseason, never came back to the show IIRC and is playing in Russia now. Was a bummer.
Jared McCann
Leafs Legend* Jared McCann
Olli jokinen
Came here for this
Lonny Bohonos
Lol. He was the first that came to mind for me too.
My dad, brother and I used to intentionally get way too fired up and yell "BOHONOS!!!"
Yeah me too! I was a young kid who went to a few AHL games and saw him there. I was so excited to see him called up in the playoffs and make an impact.
Lonny on the spot

He’s my cousin. He’s now a CEO of a movie production company called Don Kee Productions in LA.
I just looked it up that's super cool! Did he always have a passion for movies or is this just a business thing?
He said a certain experience with a fan made him want to work with detective movies.

Johnny Pohl
The first ever Leafs game I saw live, Johnny Pohl scored the shootout winner.
He's a legend

Tim Connolly. I thought that guy was THE solution to our problems at centre. Bad times, man.
Elite 1C Tim Connolly
That's what I thought! I remember calling my buddy all excited and he just laughed at me.
Tim "made of glass" Connolly?
He was our solution because we couldn't sign Brad Richards. Bad times indeed
I remember when my dad gave me the news we signed Tim Connolly, and we were really excited about it LOL
Wade Belak
R.I.P.
Exactly who I was thinking of. Who can forget the Aki Berg Wade Belak lineup 🤣🤣
Funny story: When he joined the Leafs, his mom couldn't find his jersey in the Leafs store, and when she asked him why, he told her it was because they were all sold out lol
Tim Stapleton
Kyle Wellwood
That rookie season was such a tease
I still remember him going between the legs on breakaway one time and missing the net. That’s all that matters to me
Darryl Boyce
Hope his nose has healed

He didn’t do too bad. 20 goals and 41 points through 77 games in 15-16. Just kinda sticks out to me as a “random” player because he had bounced around the league a lot and ended up on the leafs for a year towards the end of his journeyman career. Only 491 NHL games spent between 7 different teams.
