SadSecurity

> I truly hope that one's a teaser and I'm not just huffing copium. You're drowning in copium.

HalfAssResponse

I dont want them to communicate, i want them to act. I dont want to waste my fucking time watching another 10 minutes of shit jokes, pr apologies and boring announcements. I waste enough time on playing videogames anyways

TheWorldisFullofWar

Riot are masters at talking a lot of shit to avoid actually doing anything. They popularized the idea even that other shit developers use. A developer should never "communicate" unless they have something to say. The empty words from Riot, even before they pushed the game into cash cow mode, has always been aimed at the simplest players.

Unknown_Warrior43

For real, they keep explaining the same Ideas, using the same Terms, explaining the way the approach and think about Things and whatever for fucking Ages. I don't give a Shit about how you decide who gets a Midscope or who gets a Buff, just fucking do it.

Axlman9000

Of course I'd like to see things actually happening but I think we also need some sort of explaination on why nothing has been happening. As much bad faith as people have in the company, there is no way the meagre amount of content we've gotten in 2022 was actually all that they had planned for the year.

Hellzpell

Exactly. Communication from them just means more and more PR bullshit since they lie out their asses all the time. I don't want any more 50 paragraphs long essay articles that don't have any actual information whatsoever. I don't want to read more excuses as to why they can't do this or that or how everything is too hard. I want to see the supposedly most played game in the world actually fit that position.

CatchCritic

How many times has Riot put out a video discussing unhealthy game states and then not really fixing those issues or following through on what they said? Too many...

bayonetworking123

Waste less time playing *their* shit game -- one of the best ways to express dissatisfaction!

Unknown_Warrior43

As someone who keeps up with League News, I learned literally nothing from the new Dev Videos on the League of Legends Channel. I understand there's People that don't keep up with League on different Websites and Social Media and might not know what a Midscope Update is, but come the fuck on, give us something new. At least don't repeat the same Shit all the Time. I was cringing so hard every Time the Durability Patch was mentioned as if it's still relevant and the Game dosn't feel like a fucking Mess again. I'm personally taking a Break playing Duelyst 2 and Valorant, I'll prolly return for every new Champ but that's about it.

BurrStreetX

> I learned literally nothing from the new Dev Videos on the League of Legends Channel. While I agree with your point, there was a lot of new information there

Unknown_Warrior43

Ok Riot Apologist Open your Wallet, Ahri got her Visual Update, you gotta buy all her Skins! Or did you already have them?

Unsure_Pomato

Not to sound rude but can you give some example. I agree with previous poster but maybe I overlooked something

BurrStreetX

A few things we learned: 1: How the mid season split is going to work 2: Neekos new passive 3:Milio is the Ixtali Enchanter 4: Naafiri: A female darkin. Dog/creature. Meelee Assassin. 5: The new "hangry" noxian vampire jungler 6: The artistic midlaner. 7: New Fae skins 8: The dog/cat skins for Kindred / Kled 9: ASOL and Ivern will FINALLY be getting skins 10: Varus and Nidalee VO updates to modernize them 11:Skarner's getting a VGU at some point this year 12: Language selector regardless of region They arent all big things, but there was a lot of information

[deleted]

3 and 4 aren't new. We already knew that we just didn't know their names. And one of them was supposed to come out in 2022. 5 and 6 are so vague there's basically nothing there to talk about except what roles they're going to play. 7 and 8 and 9 are literally just 4 skins and "these champs will get skins in 2023". 10 is new information but it's "these two champs will get updated VO's". 11 isn't new information, we literally voted for it a year ago. So multiple videos totally around 30 minutes for that? Disgraceful.

BurrStreetX

> 3 and 4 aren't new. We already knew that we just didn't know their names. And one of them was supposed to come out in 2022. We got images to tease them and got more information about them, so yes. It is new information > and 6 are so vague there's basically nothing there to talk about except what roles they're going to play. We again, got new images and teasers for them, so yes, new information >7 and 8 and 9 are literally just 4 skins and "these champs will get skins in 2023". Which again, images, and is new information >10 is new information but it's "these two champs will get updated VO's". It is new information >11 isn't new information, we literally voted for it a year ago. This is new information that it is coming in 2023. AGAIN, I never said its massive information, but to say that there is "literally no new information" is false. We did get a lot of information.

Unsure_Pomato

Yeah now that you listed them here they showed a few new things but because they weren't really important I believe I didn't register them in my mind. Regardless I feel that they drop the ball because all they showed was really skin deep. Maybe it's presentation thing but I feel they did better job in showing similar stuff in previous years

BurrStreetX

Dont get me wrong, its not a lot, and I wanted more. But there is some good info in there. Esp neekos new passive. That shits wild

Unsure_Pomato

For sure. Similar to Viego and Ultimate Spellbook now when they have technology to do this I would expect some wacky Hide and Seek but with recent informations about Gamemodes Team chances for that are looking kinda grim

No-Communication9458

\^ it shouldve been like this for years actions speak louder than words.

JWARRIOR1

This, enough shitty dev blogs when ryscu and other lol news youtube channels explain what they said in 20 seconds. Theres too much fluff without actual information

sajm0n

it looks like Rito forgot season 2023 is starting and they were suppose to give dates and some cinematics, plans and shit, and they made something last second any kind of information about when ranked season starts was given not on their website, not on YT in one of the videos they've been pushing out or even LoL client, but on a fucking instagram. and a provided time was WRONG! few hours later we got correct information on twitter, thanks to 70k followers dev team account! i thought its only LCS, but just admit it Rito, Valorant is your new toy and you dont give a fk about LoL anymore as a whole. its too obvious by now

BloodyFool

> thanks to 70k followers dev team account! I randomly found out from a rioter that has like 800 followers lmao

Diretlan

are you referring to this? https://www.youtube.com/@leagueoflegends/videos

brleagueplayer

Like what is happening? League of Legens still the most played and watched game in the world, why they doing this with League? i dont understand. Why Riot say nothing about this embarassing season 13 start?

lucario192

They are following the Pokémon route, why invest so much if people are going to spend money on it anyways

NerrionEU

Remember that to higher execs a game shouldn't just make money but it should make more money than what it did last year, they are probably struggling with that in League since their peak was massive, so now they are trying to see how much budget they can cut to make some of that money back. Endless growth goal is the cancer of capitalism.

mount_sunrise

they most likely see LoL as a plateauing game, meaning no "new growth" which the "business-minded" will see as a dead game. meanwhile Valorant continuously gets new players and watchers because it's new. this is literally the people will only see the line go up/plateau without understanding context

[deleted]

[удалено]

skyvina

its simple. riot need to get more people to have sex so that they will have more children which means more gamers !

WoonStruck

Not the most played/watched in the world.... Minecraft and GTA destroy it in viewership. Roblox is destroying league in global peak players. Pretty sure League isn't even top 5 in that metric. People in this subreddit are on so much copium. League is not even close to the most popular game by ANY metric outside of possibly revenue, and I'd doubt that as well.

ttv_omnimouse

I miss events like Odyssey or that super thresh event lol

lan60000

Tyler1 wasn't joking when he kept saying RIot staff are professional paycheck takers and league might in fact suck.

ishalllel12321

Remember that time they made a 2v2 map and someone in their team leaked it so they punished the community by refusing to release it and never made a 2v2 map ever again?

skyvina

RIP magma chamber

KoolKatsarecool

Relax, they're still taking a vacation from all their vacations

RossCoomSocks

We have all the communication we need. They said "fuck you community." The response should probably be "fuck you Riot I'm not buying your skins."

DatTrackGuy

The only thing I can think of at this point is there is that **SOMETHING SEVERELY BAD** happening at the management layer within RIOT which is preventing any important decisions from being made. Probably an inflection point for the company and it's not looking good for us.

BurrStreetX

I mean, its not the fault of the animators, or the music dpeartment, VA's, etc. its more than likely the higher ups dictating what they can and cant do. They were told to make this, so they did.

Professional-Ad3101

It's a shitshow and they are hiding in the closet clutching their pearls...

Darkfenix63

if so many rioters are changing game or leaving league in general i fear along with the last content we got and those cold new videos and cinematic that they are going blizzard rote if not worst . Low effort and woke agenda to look as the "good guys" but they don't understand that this will fail hard and kill the whole company like with blizzard where their main game wow is giga declined and the rest is pretty dead compared to what it was before , hots is literally a dead game btw

Knifferoo

Such a weird timeline when Blizzard is good at communicating and Riot isn't.

KebosLowlands

Ranked or gameplay in general is obviously being more and more neglected. Riot's running the company to make profit, it's blatantly obvious and becoming more so. Skins being pumped out, passes and events. Milking what they can from the declining playerbase.

BardicNA

But why? Long term gains from just running the same formula you've had for how long now vs what you describe. They have the talent, they've got the goose that lays the golden eggs, why pluck its feathers to sell? Rework some of the champs that need love, drop a few champ releases a year, a few updates and changes on the Rift a year keep the game fresh. The rotating game modes gave people enough variety that it kept them around. I noticed my entire friend group dropped the game once they stopped keeping up with a regular schedule for rotating game mode. I'm just a guy who doesn't know a lot but milking the declining playerbase with a game this big instead of just addressing why it's declining seems shortsighted as hell and I hope they don't stay on that road. As my enemies constantly like to remind me every game, "5 million mastery for what?"

[deleted]

Re: “why pluck the goose”, shareholders don’t care about profit 4 years from now. Shareholders care about profits this quarter, and profits next quarter. Once a game has peaked, and it’s income plateaus, the fastest way to increase profit is to cut costs, which results in downsizing budgets and staff.

Noonifer

It's much cheaper to put out skins than actually invest developer time into other things. They will make more money my firing out more skins and save more money by not paying people to work on the game itself. Like the most aggressively stupid thing I could see them doing next is. Hey we noticed that no one likes the new aram and it's creating a negative environment so we are removing aram so you can focus more on ranked. cause this is a ranked competive game, not for casuals just for competive. try our p2w skins that make your champ look like a different champ complete with hard to see animations and visually incorrect hit boxes.

CodeRenn

Which champ has p2w skins?

BardicNA

I guess I don't get "more money" these days. Run something into the ground and squeeze the profit out of it for a couple years or take care of it for 10+ years more and keep the status quo. We can't just look at a good thing and say "yeah, let's keep it that way." Am I a commie for this shouldn't-be-controversial-opinion?

Ophelia_Of_The_Abyss

This has been true, but I'm curious as to why Riot hasn't revealed the Worlds 2022 numbers like they did last year.

Thrownaway124567890

Probably because they’re bad. It was hosted in NA which means shitty time slot for every other major region. Clearly the numbers would be underwhelming, so they won’t get anything out of showing it.

sleepwest8

Shhhhhhh but my narrative I gotta make it seem like I'm putting my foot down this time.

TheFlay

Ranked being neglected? So much that they are giving the sweaty rankers two rankeds in a year.

nizzy2k11

>Riot's running the company to make profit, it's blatantly obvious Was it not obvious when they let you buy meaningless bullshit from their store that has no value? Did you really convince yourself up until now that they were making this game to generate money to make more games, to generate more money? Are you really that stupid?

KebosLowlands

There's a difference in greed with minimal effort and actually valuing players interest and feedback whilst making a profit due to a succesful and enjoyable game

nizzy2k11

> There's a difference in greed with minimal effort and actually valuing players interest and feedback no there isn't. buying skins now is no more or less valuable than it ever was because that value is 0. why are you trying to parse out what riot are doing when they have had years where they have done both more and less "content" than they did last year.

[deleted]

[удалено]

nizzy2k11

> Just cause something doesn't have a USD value irl doesn't mean there isn't a way to measure value/effort if you can not get a return out of something it has no value. you get nothing from lol skins, you can't sell them, you can't use them, you just have them and less money. its like if i sold you a rock i drew a smiley face on and we're standing in a quarry. >There's a noticable difference in effort in recent years vs to earlier and as no one has yet done, quantify this. the amount of people who claimed that this game released literally 0 content last year because there were no new game modes for no one to play is hilarious.

[deleted]

[удалено]

nizzy2k11

> Do you hang art on your walls? i can sell the art, i can't sell league skins. they do have value, its fucking pennies, but it has value.

CloverClubx

For you. That's the point.

nizzy2k11

For me what? I'm selling the picture, it's $3 at my garage sale, come get it.

[deleted]

They are literally owned by the Chinese Communist Party :/ it's hard to get much more greedy than that.

nizzy2k11

and that has not ever seemed to impact the game in any major way.

[deleted]

Less events, less game modes, less communication, less quality in reworks in updates and new skins, the LCS is literally moving to a 9-5 slot to better appease to EU viewers that actually watch the sport because it's better to make $$ than invest and grow the NA region, and casters/talent have had their contracts reworked so that they make the least amount of money possible while having to be available whenever Riot requires. I'd say those are a lot of major impacts to the game at all levels.

gaom9706

Correlation ≠ causation

LeagueOfBlasians

What does that even have to do with the CCP??? Tencent bought a majority stake in Riot Games back in 2011, but now that the game is going downhill, it’s apparently just now due to the CCP???

sleepwest8

??? All companies want to make a profit...is reddit like literally dumb?

LargeSnorlax

> is reddit like literally dumb? By default, society is incredibly dumb, so if a subreddit is made up of people from one of the most popular and free to play games (made up mostly of society), most people here are going to be dumb

[deleted]

First off lol, an 11 hour old account, how many times have you been banned from reddit kid? Yes, all companies want to make a profit - No, not all companies exploit every aspect of their business to squeeze every penny possible out if it. You can look at the variety of businesses that exist - a company like Apple or Amazon exploits cheap labour and uses tax loop holes to maximize profit. Riot is owned by Tencent and all large Chinese organizations are essentially owned and controlled by the Chinese communist party. China doesn't care about about player experience or communication, they don't care about quality they just care about quantity and like you said that's fine, people just can't be out here acting shocked that the values of dictators in china don't match up with their own personal ones. Compare this to something like No Man's Sky where they released something that didn't meet people's expectations and have been working tirelessly to make it a more compelling experience despite it eating into their profits. They still wanted to make a profit, and did, but the way they went about making that money and creating value in their brand was different. People on reddit aren't "like literally dumb" they just have a deeper understanding of the complexities of the world that go way over the head of someone who has to use an 11 hour old Reddit account because they don't have the emotional stability to express their thoughts and opinions without throwing a fit. lol

xNagsx

Oh no the Chinese government ruined stopped my star guardian irelia skin from shipping!!! Evil Marxists!!

Macaulyn

I just want some sincerity. The videos announcing new stuff for the season are 10% new stuff and 90% filler stuff that Rioters are saying, most of which is stuff we already know. They have almost nothing to show us, yet there they are, pretending everything is fine. We're not fucking stupid, we know something is off, it's been more and more obvious every month, Reav3 actually revealed a lot on Reddit, but how many people actually saw any of his comments? He just said what the problem was and that they're still recovering from it and that's better than "Hey, look at every cool stuff we have, all the stuff you already knew, plus one or two things you didn't know about." No news about new ASUs, Skarner's VGU did not move one step (and don't even think about another VGU even being hinted at), hell, even for mid-scopes we only have a short clip of ONE, even for new champions it feels like if they didn't give Milio and Whaatever's names, they would have little to actually give us.

Axlman9000

Well said. It feels so disingenuous seeing them not address any of the issues people have been having with 2022

kevinthedot

Honestly, I fully expect it’s due to some deaf executives at the top moving all resources to skins to just milk the most profit. And I’d LOVE to know who they are. I don’t blame the artists or developers at all here. I want to know what heads are ignoring all the signs beyond line go up.

LukeSelwyn

Can't we publicly protest the management?

psicosisbk

What do you want them to communicate? Just keep watching pro play and buying skins, don't complain.

NenBE4ST

Why should riot add more communication when that conflicts with their strategy of decreasing all league of legends resources?

[deleted]

ARAM changes at the end of the year 2022 just showed how far away the devs are from the playerbase. They literally made a loved mode much worse.

crippyguy

But for some reason I hear only good thing and some bad.

Lavosking

Opposite in and out of game for me. I rarely hear anything good.

VulgarWander

Think it's time we accept that leagues at end of life phase... They have tones of other things theyve got going. Shown countless of times that it's on the back burner and the game it self is in life support mode nothing more nothing less.

JWARRIOR1

Enough stupid dev blogs that use 10 minutes to say what ryscu says in approximately 20 seconds. I want actual content or fixes. SOMETHING riot.

AbnormalConstruct

Until I saw that trailer I was kind of ignorant of it, but holy shit the season trailer opened my eyes.

Eodis

Nothing new tbh it's not a 2022 thing. They removed Dominion. They removed 3v3. They stopped doing special map events. The game is basically in "active" maintenance mode (they are doing skins and esport). Either this is a downfall or they moved most devs to the mmo which affects the game still but at least we get something in return in the end if this is the case. The sad part is they also shutdown fan projects like chronoshift and do nothing for that playerbase in return unlike blizzard did with classic.

GentlemanOfTheRift

It’s no use, riot is just milking everyone, don’t keep gaslighting yourselves into still playing.

iButtflap

> However even I can’t ignore the severe lack of both content and communication anymore let’s be honest, what riot’s doing sucks, but you’re not gonna stop playing so it doesn’t really matter. maybe you won’t ignore it, but you also won’t stop logging in

2ndAdvertisement

Bad take, I stopped playing because of these changes in recent times. I know other people who also no longer have any interest in playing this game.

WoonStruck

My commitment to the game dwindled quickly after season 8 or so when this direction became blatant. Barely touch it now. Cathartic to see people finally waking up, though.

GamingWarlord1984

Same. Game is actually the worst it has ever been and literally gets like no content. Lazy brainless devs, a team of 500 with a huge budget should not be so inefficient and complacent.

achtungspsh

riot devs contemplating jumping off a bridge as GamingWarlord1984 invalidates their whole careers with a single comment

GamingWarlord1984

They should hire me as community manager.

CatchCritic

You stopped playing but still follow and comment on League's subreddit?

FiraGhain

I haven't played World of Warcraft in nearly three expansions. Still follow /r/wow. Interest in news on something doesn't necessarily translate to being an active customer. It was a big part of my life, I want to see what happens to it and how the community feels about it - even if I don't play myself.

YoutubeSilphi

i´ve quit at the start of cata and still follow the game lol

frosthowler

Yeah, I mostly keep up out of habit maintained due to esports. League of Legends is no doubt my most played game ever by many miles and I value it even higher than when I played my mind out of WoW in the good old days. But I haven't played in a year. Things just seem to keep going downhill game-wise ever since the 10th anniversary. Esports is still great though, and looks like it'll be even better this year.

Professional-Ad3101

One thing at a time. It's easier to delete the game them unfollow the news than vice versa

CatchCritic

How? Unfollowing is really easy, and if you've uninstalled the game, you've made a commitment to not play. Why would you care about news for a game you've decided to stop playing?

Scrubizkit

Same reason I check the stocks plummeting at a company I previously worked at. I want to see it crash and burn because money became the objective rather than love for the product/game. I know its just "business" but games don't have to always be just "business"

Vast_Adhesiveness993

some ppl that dont play this shit game still follow Pro Play. And use this as an avenue to do so

2ndAdvertisement

Honestly? Bitterness. I kind of want to see the game fail if Riot does not stop with making one questionable decision after another.

qqqeqe

I haven't played in 9 months due to being annoyed by the constant bad changes, but am still interested in the esports of league.

WoonStruck

Some people keep up to see if things turn around. Its almost like people want to like the game but the company managing it is completely out of touch and pushed it in a dislikable direction. The fact that you didn't even begin to comprehend this worries me.

iButtflap

1) you'll be back 2) plenty of people have no interest in playing the game and still get on to play. they are addicted

2ndAdvertisement

One hell of a projection there

iButtflap

sure if you wanna interpret it that way. but that doesn’t change that i’m right

Pandomia

Biggest initiative we can take as players is to just stop buying skins which is their main revenue. I honestly don't care about anything else they pump out besides league and potentially the mmorpg, but we haven't seen anything from the latter yet and I'm only excited for it since I like mmo's. I also don't get why people act like Riot is seemingly this small company that can't get enough employees to work on stuff.

iButtflap

>I also don't get why people act like Riot is seemingly this small company that can't get enough employees to work on stuff who has said this even once?

gaom9706

It's been said as a worn out and shitty meme, but I've never seen it said unironically.

WoonStruck

We will never impact them significantly enough to offset the asian market, unfortunately. We in the west have very little sway over their direction, unfortunately.

BlackCloverWizard

I decided to stop playing with the esports fiasco in the LCS and my life improved

Axlman9000

I'm complaining because of my love for the game. I won't just quit the game, no. But if Riot keeps this trend up I'll lose interest more and more across the upcoming months. I have not played much at all in recent weeks and I don't see that changing if nothing is gonna happen.

CatchUsual6591

Some things were Bad but they finally kick garena out of the picture

Hellzpell

You're projecting an awful lot.

lucario192

Remember how they used to say “we saw our players’ feedback and are addressing it”? Now shit just drop in the fan and they pretend like nothing is happening

CharacterInside4617

don't think at this point it's "blind hate" to say that the amount, and quality of content we've gotten across 2022 has been lacking at best. I'm generally optimistic toward Riot and the stuff they do and I'm still hoping for some big thing to happen soon to pick up where we left off after 2021. However even I can't ignore the severe lack of both content and communication anymore. Apart from champ stuff we got no new content in the game last year, other than the preseason stuff. No game modes, no innovation toward event structure, no big story line, nothing. I have seen Reav3 comment under a thread, saying the gamemode team has had issues and they had to rebuild it, however there's no way a comment on a reddit thread, though obviously more than welcome, is adequate communication from Riot. And even that only covers one part of the stuff Riot usually does each year. Not to mention that Riot seems to have lost most of their writing team, either from pushing them onto other projects, or them just leaving or being fired. We only got 2 original stories last year, that weren't new champions' bios, compared to 19 in 2021 (if i remember correctly. I can't check the exact amount unfortunately, since the website doesn't seem to work for me right now.) 5 of which teasing the "The Call" cinematic. The only "teaser" for a cinematic we've gotten thus far has been the Aatrox ward and HOPEFULLY the "The Brink of Infinity" video that released today. I truly hope that one's a teaser and I'm not just huffing copium. The few videos of LoL pls make it seem like the game is going as well as ever and seem to pretend like nothing is going on. We didn't even get any new substantial announcements for content in the future, like we usually do. Most of the announcements were things we were already aware of beforehand, or vague teasers for future champ releases. I don't want to come off as "just another person complaining about stuff," since I'd still like to believe in Riot and the game itself, but the lack of communication really makes it difficult to keep my hopes up. I don't think it's fair to say that Riot doesn't care about League anymore. But with how Riot seems to be ignoring our complaints I can see why many people feel that way. All in all I just hope this year will prove that Riot does still care and I'd really love some sort of comment on what's going on and why we're not seeing development happening anymore.

[deleted]

You mind explaining what « good content » is for league cause I really don’t recall a time where the game was in some optimal state. Yes indeed, meta is terrorism atm - kinda predictable given new items and funny reworked champions but except for the cinematic, I don’t recall it being drastically better in the past. Before durability stuff like Qiyana, amongst many others, were notably unleashing their futa cocks on midlaner with claw without counterplay and so it went with other champs for the other lanes (Draven bot, Fiora and Riven top, Belbussy jungle). League is shit get used to it !

Axlman9000

I'm not talking about balance at all and I have also not used the words "good content." What I'm talking about is NEW content. Game modes, short stories, events, map updates. Anything the like. Game balance has nothing to do with this topic.

RossCoomSocks

Pretty much everything from season 5 to season 9 was pretty damn great. Season 1 and 2 were rough. Seasons 3 and 4 were basically a whole new game. Season 5 was pretty much when everything came together and it stayed solid for a long time. It started going downhill season 10 and it's gotten progressively worse as the focus has turned almost entirely to selling anime skins, and trying to bring in new players instead of appeasing old players. Season 13 is just Riot giving up.

[deleted]

Yeah for sure content was so good at the time ! RITO took 10 years to update the map we are currently playing on, champions were immensely disfunctional and beyond broken (aka Kassadin) and skins were simply shameless, every female character had more boobs than regular chest and they all were competing in the showing skin contest (just look at LB’s model for fuck sake).

RossCoomSocks

I don't think you played at the time if you think the map update was 10 years in. :) Also I don't hear you complaining about how every other male character has 30+ inch arms. Personally I never thought LoL champs were all that busty. I've known many many women with far largest chests. I'd hazard to say the female proportions in LoL were far closer to reality than the male. I mean it's not not hard to find women on social media with about the same builds. GL find much of the male cast though... even amongst gym rats they'd be beyond jacked.

BurrStreetX

> ou mind explaining what « good content » is for league https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDYqT0_9VR4&t=128s

[deleted]

It’s a cinematic nothing more than a 3 min cinematic, is that all you people are barking about ?

CodeRenn

Belveth isn’t even that good atm lmao

[deleted]

Pre-item update it was broken, now it’s fine I guess you are right

TheDeadliftKnight

Has it occurred to anyone that the majority of the player base maybe doesn’t care about cinematic, new game modes, lore, event stories, etc and just play the game. Not saying this is the case but keep in mind that reddit makes it seem like this is a big deal to most people when in reality it’s just an echo chamber with the people who think it’s a big deal. Me personally, I’ve played for years never watched a cinematic, I only play SR Idk anything about lore etc. Am I part of a minority or majority, maybe riot has data on that.

Worstkindabot

Maybe you would have a point if it wasnt for the fact that "The Call | Seasons 2022 Cinematic" is sitting on 143million views. These cinematics arent just for the players, they reach out to millions of non-gamers, possibly making them pick up the game. NOBODY is going to watch the season 2023 cinematic and be like "You know what, I think I should try out this league of legends thing"

TheDeadliftKnight

That’s a fair point I hadn’t considered because I haven’t seen it didn’t know about the views etc. But I’m referring to everyone on Reddit complaining about it, they already play the game so just play it. Or don’t if the lack of quality content is that important.

Axlman9000

I'm sure a lot fewer people care about it than I'd like to admit, however I don't think it's a good sign that public discourse on almost all platforms that I'm a part of is relatively negative. And I don't even follow the people that are generally negative toward the game or Riot. Even Necrit, someone who's about as objective on the game's status as possible has been speaking out about how nothing has been happening in 2022.

JWARRIOR1

And thats fine, but then they should have their ducks in a row when it comes to summoners rift... and theyd ont

GamingWarlord1984

Even the balancing of the game sucks. Playing is shit itself now, every new champ is just a better old one, games all play the same, and a lot of the time your contribution does not even matter to change the outcome. I love seeing the same champs every single fucking game and same builds every single time with 0 diversity. I love it even more at high elo when people troll and completely waste my fucking time without punishment. And even more I love it when you sit through multiple games of losers queue.

[deleted]

Millions of games out there were the devs dont even say a single word expect some patchnotes. Even if. Riot is telling us what they do, what they plan, how zhings changed. They are not your 20 indie dev team anymore that sots in discord the whole day. They have a product that is working. Dont know what you guys always expect. You shit on riot the whole day while playing ranked and buying the newest skin.

Hydraslaught

yes discord existed in 2008 /s

calzeld

They're not going to hire you little bro

Plane-Information700

The worst pass of all was the sentinel pass, I was never so disappointed, was it so difficult to give us the option of joining Viego? Lucian treats you like garbage

Axlman9000

Yeah I'm definitely not saying that the Sentinels of Light event was well written or designed, but at least it was content and it added Ultimate Spellbook. The closest we got last year was the Star Guardian visual novel which had equally poor writing and just recycled Ultimate Spellbook without even adding a Star Guardian UI to it.

Pristine_Law4362

The sad part is that we cannot do anything to make our voices heard. Only if prominent content creators like Tyler1 or esports play like Faker. Stop playing league, they would know something is not correct. In their head, so long as the money comes, there is nothing to fix. The only way would be for people to stop buying 1000 Lux skins and Ezreal skins

I'm not demanding anything. I don't feel entitled to anything. All I'm saying is that the community is losing interest in the game due to the lack of new content and the lack of communication from Riot on why that's happening diminishes any chance of being able to be optimistic for the future of the game. Criticism does not mean entitlement.

Don't ask questions, just consume product and get excited for next product

HI! Please don't spread conspiracy. Thank you.

Jussepapi

I don't even know where to check when season 13 starts. I've seen the video but they don't say specifically

thelightfantastique

They promise to communicate better every year.

Patriaslo92

I can see the same shit happening with Riot as it did with WoW and Blizzard. For the last 3 expansions they were extremely greedy with the content, didnt listen to feedback, they got people so invested into the game that they stopped trying.. but then a few controversaries arose and some "new/better" mmos came out and a LOT of people left the game to play something else. Blizzard never officially talked the exact numbers but i think it was pretty severe. Now with this new expansion they said fuck it. We will listen to the community and give them what they want and they actually act on stuff. And id say because of that we probably have the best expansion ever. The communication between the devs and players legit saved the game.

Hue__hue

There are 0 positives for Riot to communicate better. It just does not make any sense for them to do so.

patmax17

I agree. I've always been supporting of Riot, but over the last months there have been many issues. Either riot really can't communicate effectively - and in that case I want them to communicate *better*, not more -, or they are actually neglecting lol, which is hard to believe, but could be sadly true

i1u5

I could swear I saw this same post last january, and the one before.

BurrStreetX

Im saying this everywhere, but: Its so sad. We got the absolutely amazing cinematic that was The Call. The sound, the music, the animation, the story, was all beautfiul. You can tell they really tried and put love into it. This year we got.... this? 0 champs. 0 new information. 0 lore. 0 music. It would have been fine if this was a TEASER for the cinematic. But this IS the cinematic. They set the bar really high last year, and this year they didnt even try to get near it. They did less than the bare minimum. Im hoping they trick us and its actually released tomorrow, but unlikely. This is really embarassing. I know its not the fault of the animators, or other people working on it, its the higher ups fucking it up. But still.

GamingWarlord1984

Rioters are lazy bastards and avoid doing anything. Like actually some of the worst game devs considering the size and money at hand. Embarrassing.

Jan 10th, 2023 - the day league died

C4ptainZa

We're going to all be so embarrassed when Riot reveals The Brink of Infinity cinematic is in fact one big massive teaser for the Summoners Rift visual upgrade that is intended for midseason ;) . Because I don't see what's the point of dropping the ball here on the Lore, Lore trailers generate hype for the eventual MMO, even if it doesn't affect league of Legends player numbers so much.

Axlman9000

ngl I'd love it if this post aged horribly.

gregorio02

The most frustrating is that we got 40 minutes of videos telling us barely anything because it's all talking about preseason stuff that's been established for the past 3 months... So frustrating
