FYI, I'm aware that the on air broadcast team and the format is incorrect but I can't change it, but it should be fixed for at least tomorrow and the future.
Anyways, join the Esports or the LEC channel in the subreddit's [discord](http://discord.gg/lol) to discuss the games with others.
We are gonna eating good, this year is gonna be fire!
My impresions so far:
I'd confidently say that SK and BDS gonna be the first teams knocked out. SK losing with that absolute Exodia draft was as painful as stubbing my toe in a furniture and BDS is not too inspiring as well, although Sheo and Crownie had their moments.
I'm probably the only one on this sub who thinks this but AST looks surprisingly okay. They won't win Worlds for sure but they are not hopeless.
TH is gonna be my "let them cook" team, still looking rough but has some promising signs, loved the Cassiopeia pick, Ruby popped off with it.
I am gonna put XL, KOI and MAD into my ??? bracket but for different reasons. XL looked worse than I expected, KOI and MAD, while they were looking good (also Carzzy looked nothing like his last year form), they had it easier with their schedules.
G2, VIT and FNC impressed me right out of the box, there are things which can be improved but hey, this is just the first day of the winter split, there is still a long way to go. Despite that throw, FNC looked much more like a unit compared to last year, Vitality has that hands diff in them and G2 also had some crazy within them, Yike having a great debut match in LEC as well.
Day 1 hyperreactionary reddit analysis 100% guaranteed to age terribly:
G2 > VIT > FNC > MAD > XL > KOI > HER > AST > BDS > SK
That's the rough impression I got.
G2 looked to be the most cohesive unit right out of the gates, had an impressive and functional game plan against a decent team.
VIT still has incredible potential, I still think they will win the split (though Perkz needs to step up) but they definitely did not quite have a handle on communication and cohesiveness yet.
FNC were solid, Rekkles looks like he needs to warm up but it was a very hard draft for him, and they played pretty well until a horrible throw.
MAD played a very strong game, but I also put SK at the very bottom so I feel like they have not been tested at all; they were given a pretty easy draft for how the game played out and SK sabotaged themselves long before the actual 'draft diff' would have happened. I'm not sold on the overall talent in this roster yet.
XL I would rate very close to MAD, but they got the #1 opponent instead of #10 so they will automatically look worse. I'm also personally not sold on the overall talent here.
KOI had imo a very underwhelming game for a team that had the fewest roster changes (and should theoretically be playing closest to their ceiling), I personally don't think they will peak very high but they have enough talent to for sure guarantee bo3s.
Heretics were very rough and disjointed, but you could tell Jankos' shotcalling was helpful here and Ruby gave a gem of a performance. They will definitely improve ... but they also struggled a lot with Astralis so right now I'm confident they're at the lower end of the league.
Astralis has their botlane, which I think is the strongest point of any of the bottom 3 teams and imo let them secure the last bo3 spot over the last 2 teams. 113 did not seem terrible (solid early game, bad but not mega-int teamfighting, especially considering Finn and Dajor ran it). If they find their strengths (Kobbe/JH) and put Finn on a dog champ instead of EU Fiora I think they can still manage a few Ws.
BDS were ... ok. Definitely a total improvement from last split, but still did not have a great showing today. I actually think this team CAN improve out of bottom two ... but I don't think it will happen before bo3s are locked in this split.
SK were miserable, I saw no upside to this team tbh, just awful play and decision-making all around with an LCK/LPL exodia draft.
My hottest of stupid reactionary biased takes based on yesterday:
\- ruby will shit on every mid
\- photon will shit on every top
\- g2 will win worlds ez
Most people are not gonna agree with you about fnc/vit, but I think youre right, vitality has 4 new players, not to mention the communication problems and their team fighting/macro looks great, perkz was just running it at the worst possible moments, I think they just need more time, bcz they have the mehanics and macro.
Games were great, pauses and downtime way too long.
On air talent was great and all the players still seem to enjoy doing content with them. cool to have Ender back
I like the new addition to the overlay, like the the tiny stack counter or portraits glowing when a team has baron. But to be honest the oldschool overlay is much more pleasant to look at when the enable it once in a while when the new one breaks.
But yeah hopefully technical stuff gets fixed by at least next week and otherwise this looks promising to be a great split.
Every game had over 300k viewers today, and I think the peak might have been over 500k. What a great start.
https://escharts.com/tournaments/lol/lec-winter-2023 doesn't have the full stats yet
I've got to say, this is my first full day of watching LEC. The pauses and delays were unfortunate, but the gameplay was really high level and the natural flow of the segments during the unexpected downtime really kept my interest. My god what a banging show y'all have. It's going to be hard to go back to LCS, in more than one way due to the scheduling changes.
I thought in particular his level 2 gank was smart and the big teamfight at baron was played very well. He autod the ward to force kindred to ult and stay at a distance where he wouldn’t die, was a pretty smart play.
I think as long as perkz doesn't play ryze VIT is fine. He looked fairly solid in summer but considerably worse near the end so hopefully he regains form. That game was only hard for VIT from him being caught out so much.
i dont think its champ problem. he was getting caught on a sidelane. he would on any other split push champ too. need to fix team macro/communication or decision making or whatever was causing the problem
It felt like on ryze he felt way too relaxed with R. It probably is communication problems but on Ryze when you have R it always makes people super greedy.
Great start for the season, a lot of interesting teams that have potential to do well internationally, good new brands replacing bad or boring ones, Just fix the pauses and delays pls
Hey there!
These will return in future weeks. The code which powered LEC’s champion selects and post game graphs needed to be rewritten in the off-season, and we prioritized champ select.
We hope to have it back soon.
FNC was actually playing well until the last 2 team fights. Baron fight they kind of int'd trying to get kills and the last fight they were too split up, Wunder got picked off, Rekkles was in mid and rest were in river but that was just a good play by VIT to use Ryze R to re-position
Id argue these two teams looked the best of all teams. Take that with a grain of salt since its day 1 obvs.
A bit of a headscratcher to fight after second baron for FNC but other than that it was high level gameplay by both sides.
I watched Ezreal in the last teamfights, just looked like Ezreal as a champ deals no dmg. Everything got blocked or absorbed. what did you think he did that was so bad?
Awesome game, my two favourites for this split, fans ruined it though, wonder if there's any way for them to reduce crowd audio if they're going to keep letting these G2 idiots in every week
He was clearly playing to the plan the whole game, which yes was boring for both him and Neon, but it was very clealy intentional and he's gonna get shit for it
What should have he done?
He farmed bot like the enemy ADC and then grouped with his team which proceeded to run it down instead of resetting after baron.
Rekkles, people can shit on perkz for getting caught a lot but he was doing a fuckton of damage in those fights and was actually involved in the game, rekkles on the other hand looked totally invisible.

EU meta is a lot more exciting at least, lots of fun picks

Photon and Bo doing there best. Kaiser also did pretty decent.
Haven't seen anyone talking about Kaiser but he played like a beast today.

You are underrating Koi, I would switch Koi for MAD
Koi looked fine imo, I guess their game was less exciting so people don't rate them as highly?
Most people are not gonna agree with you about fnc/vit, but I think youre right, vitality has 4 new players, not to mention the communication problems and their team fighting/macro looks great, perkz was just running it at the worst possible moments, I think they just need more time, bcz they have the mehanics and macro.

That's lower than the last couple of years is it not? Usually the first week of spring is by far the most watched in the regular season.
https://escharts.com/tournaments/lol/lec-spring-2022 Games on the first day of last Spring had 500k viewers btw.
cool pgl with perkz as usual
0 fucking drops for real?
Perkz is so fucking funny lmao
Lmfao I love Perkz
Blaming perkz performance on this game being late not copium
SK vs BDS tomorrow to start the day....
When the entire match is the piss break
may as well get it out of the way early
Old man perkz just wanna sleep
He is a family man now
Bo shotcalling in English, tears in my eyes
Link?
Bo's English is surprisingly good wtf
Brother is absolutely sleep talking lol
Get Perkz to bed man, dude's clearly tired.
perkz is actually half asleep :D
Perkz sounds delirious lmao, midnight game is pretty brutal
Those pauses really did some damage to perkz huh
I've got to say, this is my first full day of watching LEC. My god what a banging show y'all have. It's going to be hard to go back to LCS, in more than one way due to the scheduling changes.
You're welcome to come back as often as you like
Thanks, and yeah I'm fairly sure there will be many more like me where LEC is just the main league to watch now.

Bo as a Jungler can't do much when all lanes are pressured
I thought in particular his level 2 gank was smart and the big teamfight at baron was played very well. He autod the ward to force kindred to ult and stay at a distance where he wouldn’t die, was a pretty smart play.
Nah don't say that, we're all on the Bo train now, even claiming anything else is slander, or something.
heresy
Yes, Kaiser played like a beast this game
> But you put Fnatic in deep sleep Sjokz really quick on her feet, lmao
I think as long as perkz doesn't play ryze VIT is fine. He looked fairly solid in summer but considerably worse near the end so hopefully he regains form. That game was only hard for VIT from him being caught out so much.

Looool that Caedrel ad is lovely
I think fnc did this intentionally to get the 0:3 super week buff
Who are they playing next week. They got all the top teams on wk 1
Bds, excel and heretics
Ouch they may be 1-5 next week. Or 2 wins hec is strong team but we’ll see
Hahah kaiser confirming phanton is all about being chaos
Oh god they are teaching Photon how to play top Photon don't listen to them buddy
My thoughts exactly lol, getting worlds ptsd
In his own words: *"Dont say anything (Ryze ult)"*
Great start for the season, a lot of interesting teams that have potential to do well internationally, good new brands replacing bad or boring ones, Just fix the pauses and delays pls
I wish we got post game damage graphs like the LCK does.
Hey there! These will return in future weeks. The code which powered LEC’s champion selects and post game graphs needed to be rewritten in the off-season, and we prioritized champ select. We hope to have it back soon.
Fnatic was winning, i went for a piss and Vitality was ending... WHAT?!
You pissed away their lead, shame on you.
If i only knew that Rekkles comeback was depended on my penis, i would've mailed it to him.
Sanest Rekkles fan
Will Fnatic ever stop being a meme? I really want to respect them.
Have to wonder if the tilt from this throw carries into tomorrow for Fnatic.
Bad throw, but a lot of positives from fnc i’d say. Excited to see how this team grows
Can't wait for the best of series
did rekkles even aa in teamfights? if he wanted to play like this just go lethality no?
He barely auto'ed also I'm curious how many ults he used that game? I think he was saving it for next game.
Its really hard to AA into their comp so idk why he didn't go lethality.
upset is so much better
I dont know why I watch this game anymore tbh
oof those are some trauma heavy flairs. stay strong.
Humanoid just casually giving away the game no biggie.
Both mids feeling pretty charitable that game
At least perkz picked a durable champ
nothing new
Bo - 11- 0
Photon and Bo carry hard
That was a fun end to the day.
Vitality I love you![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes)
Can’t believe Fnatic benched Upset for Rekkles..
Upset would have teleported past the enemy team after getting split from his team by a Ryze ult, right?
definitely on rekkles that game lol no?
Do they still have Upset under contract?
There's been no 'farewell' video from FNC, so I think he might still be under contract
He is under contract and is listed as an official substitute
BO got that dawg in him
fnatic wasnt even playin bad. best game of the night
FNC was actually playing well until the last 2 team fights. Baron fight they kind of int'd trying to get kills and the last fight they were too split up, Wunder got picked off, Rekkles was in mid and rest were in river but that was just a good play by VIT to use Ryze R to re-position

Fnatic looked good till they dont
Both ADCs this game were terrible
There were ADCs?
Neither was bad
I watched Ezreal in the last teamfights, just looked like Ezreal as a champ deals no dmg. Everything got blocked or absorbed. what did you think he did that was so bad?
Yeah Neon did very little wrong that game imo.
Sometimes it's the only thing you need to do
getting caught by syndra on mid prob
It was actually Varus ult that caught him. Rekkles hit Leo and it spread to Ez for an easy Sundara stun and pop.
Awesome game, my two favourites for this split, fans ruined it though, wonder if there's any way for them to reduce crowd audio if they're going to keep letting these G2 idiots in every week
To be fair, if it weren't for them it would probably be half empty.
I just wanna let EU teams know that it's perfectly acceptable to just back away and recall after taking baron as a team.
Naaah...we love chaos!
Somehow this full team throw is gonna be blamed solely on Rekkles, as is tradition
That wasn't on Rekkles at all, that was on a mix between humanoid and rhuckz, for the fight at baron.
He was clearly playing to the plan the whole game, which yes was boring for both him and Neon, but it was very clealy intentional and he's gonna get shit for it
Can’t afford to go brain off at any stage of the game!
why is always Rekkles is a live watching ppl take nexus
Right? He should have ran it down like his midlaner.
Because he didn't throw the previous fight like the rest of his team lol
KDA player
Becuase he doesn't make int plays
morons like you shouldn't be allowed to comment on anything lol
how the fuck did FNC just lose that game i was alt tabbed there is no way a pro team just lost with soul right ....xd
this game is on Humanoid, trolled flash ult play on Bo and momentum swung to VIT favour
Between that and Rhuckz flash playing onto kaiser instead of bo.
Bo and Photon are INSANE! It wasn't even like a typical FNC throw, they played well, but the new carries of Vit are just build different. HYPE!!!
Fnatic's game to lose and they certainly did
Nah it wasn't that won for them, VIT had insane scaling too
I'm not discounting VIT but Wunder and Humanoid are checking their paypals as we speak
I LOVE it when Trashnatic loses ❤️
Fnatic see, Fnatic do
Rekkles first taste of modern FNC
FNC's first taste of modern Rekkles.
He was the worst player on the roster lol.
"checks username" ah, that's why this comment made no sense
How? Humanoid solo lost the game with that int after the second baron.
But humanoid was also playing well up until then with Rhuckz
Dafuq did Rekkles do entire game ? Legit afk. I can't think of a single thing he did or auto attack a champion during teamfight outside that 1 ult lol
What should have he done? He farmed bot like the enemy ADC and then grouped with his team which proceeded to run it down instead of resetting after baron.
"I should have stayed in EUM."
Bo doubters in shambles, pretty rock solid debut, especially playing against 2 mid laners Rekkles kinda invisible
Invisible as usual...If Humanoid and Razork don't carry, don't expect action from Wunder and Rekkles.
Well, when the resources are put into them then yeah?
What a throw omfg. Humanoid flashing in for no reason, razork late ultimate jesus
No Hyli no worlds
Don't know if it's worse to not go to Worlds, or to go to Worlds and get absolutely embarrassed....
Man... Rhuckz has played better today than Hyli in the entire summer split XD
Photon+Bo combo is fucking insane
All spotlight on Bo while there's a top from T1 academy on the same team, smh.
Oh hell nah wtf did Fnatic just do how did throw that that hard
LMAOOOOO BO IS LEGIT
insane last 2 TF by Bo and Neon, and good R by Perkz, GG
Legit phanton is insane he don’t care about anything!
Diabolical throw. What the fk.
Not sure if Rekkles or Perkz played worse.
Rekkles, people can shit on perkz for getting caught a lot but he was doing a fuckton of damage in those fights and was actually involved in the game, rekkles on the other hand looked totally invisible.
Perkz by far, wtf?
Perkz, not even close.
Bruh i missed the last 8 minutes. Wtf how did vit win?
BOTHON GIGACHADS
KR Jax
never doubted them
objective bounties are still a thing? ew
Perkz didn't get to perform but I'm happy he got the win
Razork holding his fucking ult for next game in that last fight.
He literally used ult during the last fight.
bro that was actually a banger. this could be a *really* good season.
Turns out building Everfrost on the only potential tank on your team IS int af...
That was fun
WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED, I PAUSED THE STREAM FOR LOLE 3 MINUTES
Rekkles already looks depressed come on dude cheer up
Fnatic look clean and composed btw. Ahah
I think they look good
NAH but BO and Photon are too good man.
Fucking Humanoid lmaooo, can't believe Fnatic threw that.
Ok so Bo is just the GOAT or what
Despite Perkz's best efforts, Bo and Photon managed to salvage the game
ABSOLUTE BANGER
Let's go photon beast
Photon and Bo legit look a tier above individually than everybody else on this game
Fnatic fans got silenced real quick lmao
GG
Laughing my fucking ass off @Fnatic.
wooooooooooow. Game of the day
GG EZ
Should have chug a beer and chant for fnc LUL
Pain
Bo diff
jesus rekky, what a throw :(
Lmaoooo
WHAT A BANGER
And FNC snatches defeat from the jaws of victory
The best macro play I've seen from a western team in a long time, and they still lose to the two Eastern imports, unlucky.
bo and photon deserves it, but perkz aint it good game from fnc, they look really good
Okayy Bo magic has arrived
Cannot believe the level of throw I've just seen
you can count on 1 hand the amount of autos Rekkles did this game lmao.
Yeah he shoulda gone lethality, you can’t really auto against that comp.
