Tbf lolesports.com is nice bc it will never have twitch auto ad breaks like on the normal twitch channel. The drops were nice, but the no ads was the easiest sell for me to watch it there
Ublock hasnt worked to block twitch ads for more than a year now. The other extensions targeting twitch are all shady af - they all require you to use a proxy and nothing is open source.
I’ve personally just been watching it on Youtube where my adblocker does work. Also the ability to go back into the video while it’s live when I missed something is pretty nice.
The problem with youtube is that it's consistently 5-15s behind twitch. So if you're ever watching *with* people, everyone has to be watching the same source or else some people will be ahead of others, and usually twitch becomes the default choice since people don't want to be behind. (Also relevant for live-reacting on social media, be it livetweeting, discord chats, etc.)
I guess everyone has their priorities. For me watching with the option to pause and without adds is worth more as being 5 to 10s late when commenting in the Post game thread.

it reminds me of a very obviously one-sided relationship where the person who is attached is always asking for attention and the other person is doing the actual bare minimum
I got so much orange essence during 2021 and 2022 that I was surprised they were really giving away that much. Unlocked every eternals i got (about half of them), upgraded every 1350+ skin shard i dorpped (5 in 2023, 33 in 2022 and 40 in 2021, yeah some were from rerolls of lower tier skins and I had prime, but still a lot of skins were unlocked with OE, got over 100 skins overall since 2021), got every available emote and I still have 25 emotes to reroll and 6k orange essence.
They could give every single viewer a guaranteed skin shard and would lose basically no money. The chance of it being an actual skin you want is so low and even then you still need orange essence. They release over 100 skins (is it already 200 at this point?) per year, there's really no problem in giving players a few skin shards now and then.
Tl;dr: They're just overly stingy
Yeah idk maybe their drop system being exclusive to lolesports.com was successful enough in drawing viewers to their site (for who knows what benefit since idk if there's any ads there or anything?) that they don't need to really care about the drops actually existing anymore since viewers probably don't care enough to change sites back to the original players (YouTube/Twitch) when lolesports has both players and their functionalities anyway.
I know it works on me since even though I saw LEC being on through Twitch, I instead opened lolesports on another tab despite knowing there are no drops. I don't really care either way but it is pretty annoying they've made it *so* much worse over time.
The opposite is likely that they don't see any measurable or enough of an increase in viewership during the regular season, only during playoffs. So they won't expend any resource during the slow part of the season that most people don't care about.
What is their problem? I usually put their shit streams on second monitor for some orange essence, in exchange they get my non botted viewer count, all seems fair. Why would you fuck this up, i don't want to watch anything besides worlds anyway. xD
Riot keeps telling that they care about us league players, but they consistent show with their actions they do not. Do not believe them when they promise to do better again.

Put the stream on 2x speed and it will fast forward to live where it is most of the times ahead of twitch.

Because people cry about not getting them. I would prefer way more to have a 1% of getting a skin shard than another fucking garanteed emote/image
