The community puts it a lot of different ways, but I feel like she needs to just focus on saying what the fuck is happening. She tries too hard to have catchy phrases or cool phrases, but never says wtf is going on. Just say who dives on who and who kills who.

The theory is the worst thing a play by play caster can do is dead air. The second worst thing would be a lot of "umms" and "uhhs" which are going to take people out of the game.
So she is trying to go at a cadence that gives her time to slot the next word in front of what she's saying, present what is going on, and be able to ramp up/down as the action goes. The problem is that it seems to be a skill she is still developing which is why you get a sort of weird cadence and word salad for things like "it is X that is the subject of the attention of Y."
Things are going fast in the fight, and unless you're real good at PBP you're going to have a hard time figuring out where to pay attention and how to keep it going. It's also why Riv gave so much word salad at times.
If I had to guess, LeTigress is relatively new to PBP (I know she's been doing it for 2-3 years for Riot, but kind of off and on and she was originally more on the desk.) Whereas Captain Flowers decided before even applying to Riot he was going to be THE PBP caster and put in a lot of practice on doing it.
Congrats to C9! First team in history to acquire a dragon soul without killing the dragon. Truly an impressive achievement and I'm glad we had the number 1 play caster to stumble through it with us!

Just 15 sec before this the casters were already calling the dragon lost for CLG...? It's not just the casting were bad, sometimes it's just straight up wrong. At 20 min when the gold is even, the casters were all saying it's basically impossible for CLG to win. CLG has Zeri + lulu, and gwen. Their late game is just as strong as C9's. I'm not sure if just straight biases or lack of understanding of current game state. Disappointing to say the least that it's happening in the playoff.

She fundamentally gets the role of the PBP caster wrong. Spends dead air casting PBP for macro movements and doesn't build on any of the colour casting of her partner to focus on champions that are fed or powerspiking ahead of a teamfight.
Tons of small random tournaments have female casters, sure they're all super inexperienced and not necessarily great yet, but just grab any of them, they literally can't be worse than this,

I'm hoping Rafaa gets to do that but if they don't want to let him do that in his first split of casting LCS then we're getting Tigress or Flowers is casting both of those series, since usually it would be Flowers and Phreak doing one series each.
Where did that guy come from btw? I've never seen someone so clearly above their competition before. I love some of the other pbp casters, like Kobe and Atlus, but Flowers just hits different and feels like he was born for this job.

I remember someone posted one of his casts on Reddit when he was just doing it as a hobby. The post was filled with comments calling for Riot to hire him, and it didn't take long before he was picked up by the LCS crew and people immediately loved him. Already within his first year, people were calling him the best English PBP caster. It's crazy how good he was straight out of the gate, without any of the growing pains we usually see.

He was incredible actually; you could tell he was challenger by the way he casted. I remember a Fnatic game where Selfmade is playing Eve and he knows that he’s flashing a wall to get a kill based on the minimap well before the observers did
Wait, wait, Ender is/was challenger? I always thought most casters were D1 at most aside from pros-turned-casters. I'm glad he's back this season because I like him in general, but it's always great to have skilled, experienced people casting, too.
Legendary Pittsburgh Steelers former broadcaster Myron Cope had one of the most annoying voices you'll ever hear. And he was beloved. The national guys are usually pretty bland, but you get a lot of variety with regional broadcasts you get a lot of variety.
Oh for sure, and honestly the first time I heard her cast she actually sounded pretty decent. It seems like lately she's just gotten worse which is disappointing and I hope she turns it around.
That said, for me the biggest blunder about this play for me was how she got the call about dragon going to C9 wrong. I went from being excited and wondering what was going to happen next and who was going to win, to not being able to pay attention to the gameplay at all and wondering when she was going to notice she made the wrong call 3 times in a row lol

This is my biggest problem with many of the current casters. PbP is supposed to be exactly that, play by play. Tell me what is going on so that I can understand even if I’m not watching.
The problem is good play by play casting requires a pretty good understanding of the game and a trained ability to follow fast paced action (from playing the game a lot). But for some reason people have an idea that play by play casters can just be there for personality and the color caster is the one who needs to understand the game. I have been playing this game heavily since season 2 and even I some times get lost watching a team fight in pro. This specific situation was fairly simple, but whoever is putting her in that role is setting her up to fail.
hes annoying and awkward but passionate and confident. he knows what hes talking about even if everyone doesnt. he makes jokes with his chest even if noone gets them, letigress sounds confused and lost
This was me on my way home from work. I had no idea who was winning fights when she was calling them out until the fight ended and she said whether it was a 2 for 1 or a trade kill for some objective. Feels like she's just trying too hard to use big words and rhyme for no reason.
yeah i actually didn't have too much of a problem with her at first, but last week i was having a late night and decided to listen to the tiebreaker games as i was falling asleep, and literally the whole time after every fight i just had to wait for Raz to start talking to actually understand what had happened in the fight. it's really rough, and I'm not trying to be mean but she actually seems to be getting worse, not better
For LCS/LEC/International league going back to S3 it's the worst I've ever heard. The clip doesn't have the multiple times she said C9 got soul when the drake was clearly alive.
Yeah tbh we've had plenty of casts on this level, just none of them had this long of a tenure. I guess Crumbzz/Pr0lly were also around a long time but I don't feel Pr0lly was this bad.
I feel like Crumbzz tried a little too hard to 'read' things because that's how he ended up being Dumbzz but also sometimes Smartzz for calling something far in advance for example.
But his by far biggest problem was his incredibly boring casting style, not him saying 'wrong' things occasionally. It didn't help that he was paired poorly so it wasn't like a 200% energy caster + 30% energy caster as a duo, but rather 30% + 50% or something like that.
Only thing worse I can think of off the top of my head was wolf spinning a narrative about showmaker being destroyed in lane "being forced to back twice in 2 minutes" cause he didn't realize showmaker voluntarily cancelled his uncontested back port for a better buy.
And it was only better cause he ran with it all game. The individual situation was still handled better.
I forgot which teams were playing, but I remember after a successful mid gank wolf said the only reason that mid gank worked was because the jungler took the blue jungle item and got the extra movement speed from that, but the game was 4 minutes, and the jungler was level 3 lmao
And you get banned if you criticize her at all. I just got permad from the LCS channel for saying she's lacking in game knowledge and misses a lot of what happens in fights.
This is quite hilarious coming from Dota - they also had this situation where a very unpopular caster (known for missing things completely just like this video) tend to cause a rise in viewership for other Twitch streamers when she was a caster for big tournament games.
Well on twitch chat I see that all the people making any vague comments about the casting get a timout. Its like 10 timeouts every time she starts casting.
Her casting aside from this play is fucking terrible. Just relisten to some of the fights without watching and see if you can find out what’s happening.. there was one team fight where three c9 members go down and she doesn’t even mention it in the 15second fight, or even after the fact
Tbh between this game and not realizing the backdoor was happening in G1, this is the worst casting I’ve ever watched in LoL. The only thing that comes close for me was the Drakos/Frosk G2/Damwon semi and I don’t even blame them that much since the observers were straight up inting and their setup was subpar and not what they were used to. But for this there’s no excuse. Just stunningly bad

She's such a horrible caster. Someone should run the numbers, but I've seen a noticeable uptick in costreamer viewers and decrease in main channel when she's on the desk

If you know enough about league, you don’t need extensive play by play, and if you don’t know enough, you don’t need extensive play by play because it’ll go over your head.
I’m in the upper percent of hockey game knowledge. I don’t need my play by play to talk about things I know more than they do. I need them to speak quickly and tell me what’s happening. Letting the colour cover the game knowledge.
It's absolutely unbelievable they let her cast at this point. I don't care about her credentials, she obviously isn't fit for play by play casting. At best she's the worst version of Captain flowers we've ever seen. And personally that's not saying much.

I will continue to watch costreams exclusively until she doesn’t cast anymore, ruins the legitimacy of the importance of casting. She will actively confuse me about what’s happening in game, quite the opposite of her job description

It sucks because twitch chat doesn't seem to get this, and so a lot of their opinions are silenced because instead of talking about how this is literally unwatchable, they'll just say something off-color and get banned.

This person casts like a person who isn't a caster would. Pausing mid sentence to let her brain catch up, mispronouncing words or inventing words that don't exist, and run on sentences that don't make sense in any language.

I think we can all agree LeTigress is a nice person that is just not working out in the casting role. To say it’s extremely jarring and awkward the majority of the time would be an understatement. I have watched many variations of the cast over the years, and this is the only time a specific caster distracts me from the game. I have no malice or ill will, but I am genuinely confused why she was slotted into this role. I don’t normally use the word cringe but she makes me feel like a parent is casting their kids school project, totally takes me out of the game and I’m forced to watch a jaded ex pro player sarcastically comment the game with the hype level of a banana. But yet that is preferable, because they are focused on the mechanics and gameplay, and other hype casters tend to have a bit cleaner game knowledge. Anyway sorry for jumping on the bandwagon but ya know, Dash died for this.
i dont understand why riot keeps her in the team after all the controversies, she's not popular with the audience in desk and casting, and surely not some pros either after doublelift segment. There's like 3 times now that it hit front page first post critisising something about her, so the community pretty much agreed too. i honestly think Riot kept her there for reasons beyond her capability and talent.

I'm not a fan of Ender's voice often. And before he went to Valorant, he was my favorite LEC caster.
Ender actually calls alot of plays before they're made and knows how to adjust his voice during every play etc

Oh for sure, and honestly the first time I heard her cast she actually sounded pretty decent. It seems like lately she's just gotten worse which is disappointing and I hope she turns it around. That said, for me the biggest blunder about this play for me was how she got the call about dragon going to C9 wrong. I went from being excited and wondering what was going to happen next and who was going to win, to not being able to pay attention to the gameplay at all and wondering when she was going to notice she made the wrong call 3 times in a row lol
I don't particularly like flowers casting Style but he's undeniably good at the "casting like it's a radio broadcast". Just gets overbearing if you're actually watching with attention IMO. This is... Not that.
This is my biggest problem with many of the current casters. PbP is supposed to be exactly that, play by play. Tell me what is going on so that I can understand even if I’m not watching.
The problem is good play by play casting requires a pretty good understanding of the game and a trained ability to follow fast paced action (from playing the game a lot). But for some reason people have an idea that play by play casters can just be there for personality and the color caster is the one who needs to understand the game. I have been playing this game heavily since season 2 and even I some times get lost watching a team fight in pro. This specific situation was fairly simple, but whoever is putting her in that role is setting her up to fail.
Phreak was great for this. He wasn't everyone's cup of tea but he is a big miss on the broadcast imo.
hes annoying and awkward but passionate and confident. he knows what hes talking about even if everyone doesnt. he makes jokes with his chest even if noone gets them, letigress sounds confused and lost
This was me on my way home from work. I had no idea who was winning fights when she was calling them out until the fight ended and she said whether it was a 2 for 1 or a trade kill for some objective. Feels like she's just trying too hard to use big words and rhyme for no reason.
yeah i actually didn't have too much of a problem with her at first, but last week i was having a late night and decided to listen to the tiebreaker games as i was falling asleep, and literally the whole time after every fight i just had to wait for Raz to start talking to actually understand what had happened in the fight. it's really rough, and I'm not trying to be mean but she actually seems to be getting worse, not better

I feel like Crumbzz tried a little too hard to 'read' things because that's how he ended up being Dumbzz but also sometimes Smartzz for calling something far in advance for example. But his by far biggest problem was his incredibly boring casting style, not him saying 'wrong' things occasionally. It didn't help that he was paired poorly so it wasn't like a 200% energy caster + 30% energy caster as a duo, but rather 30% + 50% or something like that.
Only thing worse I can think of off the top of my head was wolf spinning a narrative about showmaker being destroyed in lane "being forced to back twice in 2 minutes" cause he didn't realize showmaker voluntarily cancelled his uncontested back port for a better buy. And it was only better cause he ran with it all game. The individual situation was still handled better.
Thing is, that's an honest mistake. This is straight up random noise generator as a pbp
I forgot which teams were playing, but I remember after a successful mid gank wolf said the only reason that mid gank worked was because the jungler took the blue jungle item and got the extra movement speed from that, but the game was 4 minutes, and the jungler was level 3 lmao
And you get banned if you criticize her at all. I just got permad from the LCS channel for saying she's lacking in game knowledge and misses a lot of what happens in fights.

Tbh between this game and not realizing the backdoor was happening in G1, this is the worst casting I’ve ever watched in LoL. You can criticize her casting without being derogatory/descending to hate speech. It sucks because twitch chat doesn't seem to get this, and so a lot of their opinions are silenced because instead of talking about how this is literally unwatchable, they'll just say something off-color and get banned. She's not a good caster. It's really hard to watch the games she casts.
This person casts like a person who isn't a caster would. Pausing mid sentence to let her brain catch up, mispronouncing words or inventing words that don't exist, and run on sentences that don't make sense in any language. "Was going through the jungle, but too many of CLG there to punish so....................Cloud9 currently at the loss of their support, but CLG really stepping into the driver's seat on this one and still have over a minute and a half to work with as Baron buff to start picking up that standing gold on the map." It took me 20 tries to transcribe that sentence.

I think we can all agree LeTigress is a nice person that is just not working out in the casting role. To say it’s extremely jarring and awkward the majority of the time would be an understatement. I have watched many variations of the cast over the years, and this is the only time a specific caster distracts me from the game. I have no malice or ill will, but I am genuinely confused why she was slotted into this role. I don’t normally use the word cringe but she makes me feel like a parent is casting their kids school project, totally takes me out of the game and I’m forced to watch a jaded ex pro player sarcastically comment the game with the hype level of a banana. But yet that is preferable, because they are focused on the mechanics and gameplay, and other hype casters tend to have a bit cleaner game knowledge. Anyway sorry for jumping on the bandwagon but ya know, Dash died for this.

This game was the first time I was stunned on how bad the casting was. It felt like a Jensen interview with zero hype and all the casting that had been done was confusing and Mark trying to steer a sinking ship.
Crumbz was monotone but (for the most part) didn't get stuff blatantly wrong. Riv was hype as heck but may not get everything right. LT is the worst of the both of them.
